Seeking recommendations on new front load washing machine. Ours broke down today. Ours is Lg. Too costly to fix.

I went to a top loading machine when our front load broke, so can't help with a recommendation.
My only advice is to look at what is actually available/in stock locally rather than set your heart on a particular model unless you are willing to wait for it.

Do you have your heart set on a front load machine? Everyone I know who has one hates it ...
They have to leave the door open to prevent mold or something?
Anyway, I have an LG top load that I love! I have only ever owned top loading machines and they have lasted forever!

I have relatively new LG front load machines. Went for size and not as expensive as the last machines. I think theseWhat I did right was get the washer drawer instead of the pedestal. What I wish I had known was to buy a more expensive dryer to get the ex low setting. The washer is so big that washing a few things is not possible per the instructions. I have clothes with nothing else to wash with, bras, the dog leash 🤣. The washer and dryer are also so big, it has seriously cut down on laundry. I’m washing 2x as much in a single load.

I have always been #TeamToploader. Then when we had to replace our washing machine a year or two ago, we ended up getting a front loader for the first time. I really really love it! It has freed up a fair bit of room in our laundry, and we were finally able to put a bigger cupboard in there. We bought an AEG that was quite a bit more money than I had wanted to spend, but it's worth it.
A friend of mine just bought an Asko, and she really loves it.

I have LOVED our front loader. We had a Whirlpool Duet and left it in our house when we sold it last month. It was almost 18 years old and never gave us any trouble. I did leave the door open slightly after washing to allow the seal to dry. We had ours on pedestals which made them so easy to load and unload.
We are in a short term rental currently while looking for our next house. They have a top loader and I hate having to reach inside to remove the clothes from the washer.
How old was your LG? A house we looked at over the weekend and might make an offer on, had an LG set. They were 2 years old.

Our machine is over ten years old. Our Maytag set lasted over thirty years. We went looking at washing machines tonite. Front loaders were blue, white or silver. Not comfortable with the technology to link it to your phone etc. Seems like more things could go wrong. The motherboard went on my last machine within two years (it was under warranty). Some top loading machines are difficult for me to reach into the bottom of the machine to take the clothing out,
Any opinions also on top loading washers too?

Any opinions also on top loading washers too? My LG top loader has no agitator so it holds a huge amount of stuff! It is fancy! . Was here when I bought my condo two years ago so I don't know exactly how old it is but the set seem quite new ... I love top loaders and I am short so I have a small stool in front so that I can reach the bottom easily ... that solves the problem!

I loved my front loader until it started being smelly and the gasket got nasty. I left it open after all loads, cleaned the gasket between loads, etc.
I replaced it with an LG top load and have zero regrets. Team top load for life at this point.

I recently had to replace my front loading LG after 20 years…I bought another LG I personally love it!!! I do leave the door open, which is not an issue as it is in the basement

I know this isn't answering your question, but top load Speed Queen is the only way I will ever go. I have a commercial machine and it is a work horse!

I have a top load LG. Before that I had a front load Kenmore. There was no water in it, they clothes weren't even sopping wet. So how could it wash clothes? My new one even if I don't choose water plus still has water in. I just swing the drum wall to reach clothes from the other side.

We’ve had top loaders for the 15 years we’ve been here. The first one - which we ‘inherited’ from the prior tenants - gave out after a few years, so I guess our current one is about 10 years old and going well. It is a Bosch and it has a ‘drum clean’ cycle that it tells you to run every so often, which avoids the smells

They were 2 years old. WE JUST replaced our 17 yr old Duets. The dryer konked out and since they were old, it was hard to get the part (it was the control board) and attempting to repair that was just as expensive as getting a new dryer. So we got LGs. I like front loaders. We only needed the dryer but the repairman mentioned that washers and dryers have changed a lot in size/capacity in 10 years that we wanted them to match each other.

honestly, appliances are crap. I buy the cheapest and they break. I buy the "best" as recommended from consumer reports and they break. One repair guy said get the warranty because they are all crap.

boys5times, does it dry just a little bit of laundry? Yes, because once it washes, it tumbles with just air, no heat. I've only used it a couple of times when I needed something for the next day, start it at night and take it out in the morning.

I have Whirlpool Duet washing machine and dryer that are about 20 years old but still working, however looking to get a new washer and dryer as they have so many features now. Was thinking about Samsung but after reading this thread I think I will look at the LG washer and dryer as the Peas seem to like them.

We also switched from a front loader to a top loader when when our old front loader went out after three or so years. My only wish is that I would have gotten one with an agitator! Sorry, I'm no help on choosing a new front loader.

Whatever front loader you choose, make sure the drain line is easy to access. Draining it once a month (at least) and cleaning the filter will avoid most of the smells. It’s really easy to do! This washer in this video is set up exactly like mine. Warning: if you’ve had your machine a while and have never done this, be prepared for an extremely foul odor the first time! youtu.be/RCoZy2g7mVg?si=XxKZl7gX6h8bnOXc

I have a Samsung front load, one of the models that has a terrible record for breaking down. We're in year 10 or 11 with no issues. I got it because we could stack a dryer above it and make an otherwise too small space work as our laundry room. We had to replace the dryer at the year 6 mark because it blew a component that was as expensive as the whole dryer.
I actually really like front load washers. I do a lot of laundry between hosting an airbnb and caring for disabled family members. I can do huge loads, stuff gets really clean, and it's just one thing I don't have to give much thought to. Maybe because I am running it almost every day, and because I leave the door open, and ventilate the room, I don't have a problem with mold or mustiness.

We researched washing machines last week, shopped appliance stores on Saturday then purchased from Rona on Sunday. We bought a Lg front load washer with a pedestal in grey colour and the extended warranty. Some stores no longer carry the pedestals for this machine as they have moved onto the next generation of machine with more difficult controls. You can even download more wash cycles for our washing machine (won’t be doing that)..Thank you for sharing why you like your washers.
