Also if you have never tried it fry the peanut butter and jelly sandwich just like you would a grilled cheese, it's wonderful. A friend's mother made them like that when I was staying the night many years ago, went home and told my mother how good they were fried and she made them for my siblings and they loved them. My sister and I thought we were geniuses when we came up with this idea as kids. I haven't made one that way in years though. DD preferred her pb&j regular.

Peanut butter, then jelly. Or, peanut butter on one slice, jelly on the other slice. This. But I still do peanut butter first so I don't dip jelly in the PB jar.

Yeah, one slice for PB and the other slice for J then smoosh them together.

I hate jelly, but I do PB then whatever topping I might add. Honey is my favorite, so PB goes on bread, honey goes on PB, 2nd slice of bread is added.

While I don't think there is a wrong way to do it, I always do PB first. It seems like it would be too messy to do otherwise.

Peanut butter, then jelly. Or, peanut butter on one slice, jelly on the other slice. This is the only correct answer lol

Peanut butter goes on the bread first, always. If I’m making one for DH, the peanut butter layer on the first slice needs to be literally 1/2” thick, thin smear on the second slice of bread followed by a healthy layer of jelly. If it’s for me, I just do a thin layer of peanut butter on both pieces of bread, then jelly on only one. Put it together and eat it.

Jelly, then wipe the knife on the other piece of bread, then peanut butter on that piece of bread. It is a lot easier to clean the jelly from the knife than the pb.
In reality though, a lot of times I do the PB first, then get annoyed because I have to clean the knife. 😂😂

A layer of PB on each slice and then jelly. The PB creates a barrier that keeps the bread from getting soggy. Yep. This is how you make a good PB&J. Especially if you’re taking it for lunch!

There is only one correct way for me. LOL
Peanut butter then jelly and then swirl in a little peanut butter. Do this on both slices.

Two different slices, PB always first for unknown reasons. But… what do you do with the PB left on the knife? And do you use a spoon or knife? I have a tiny spatula left from childhood for PB and won’t give it up.

Never really liked pbj but when I was little bitty, my Nonnie, the best grandma who ever lived, could get me to eat one by putting pb and jelly in a bowl and mixing it all together before she spread it on the bread. I swear it tasted so much different than pb on one side and jelly on the other, and really was delicious. If I ever find myself in need of a pbj in the future, that is the way I would make it. 🥰

Peanut Butter - and sometimes sub jelly for Honey which is better on toast!

Peanut Butter on both sides, jelly on top of one side, which keeps the bread from getting soggy

One on each side, you savages Right! I am finding this thread absolutely shocking! PB one one side, jelly on the other. Never in my life have I experienced the jelly sliding off the bread when putting it together

But it's mostly that I can't picture being able to spread either on top of the other in equal measure.

In reality though, a lot of times I do the PB first, then get annoyed because I have to clean the knife. 😂😂 Exact opposite here. Peanut butter on one slice then use the other slice to wipe off the knife so it can go in the jelly jar. DS requires extra jelly both strawberry and grape and cut in quarters for it to be considered an acceptable sandwich. I have always detested pb&j but the kid lives on them.
