I feel ya, melanell! My sinuses seem almost permenantly angry at me all year, so no physical response to the closed windows, but I definitely feel better emotionally with fresh air flowing through my home. We have no A/C. Dh and I have an on going argument about temperature control in the summer. I believe heat travels UP and leave the upstairs windows open all day and all night. He thinks I should close up the house all day and only open them at night. But I feel SO much better with natural air flow. Ironically, he is now complaining b/c the air from those open windows is cooling off the downstairs too much LOL.

No AC here so I am definitely a windows open person. I have had allergies (especially to pollens/trees etc) all my life and spring is the worst of them but summer and fall also have their issues. I guess maybe I am just use to it.
I hate when I have to close the windows for the winter, and sadly we are almost at that time. I just came home from being gone a couple of weeks and the first thing I did is open the windows upstairs in my bedroom and bathroom. Unless I am gone for an extended period my windows are open pretty much 24/7 from May thru October.
I am always sad when the time comes to have to close them but I also get a ton of happiness when there is an odd day here or there in the ‘open window off season’ when I can sneak in a couple of hours of opening them up and letting the fresh air in. That is always what I hear so much of in the spring…people saying didn’t it feel good to finally get the windows open and let in the fresh air…yup. 😄

I love being able to open the house and get fresh air. When it cools down at night we open the house up to cool it down so we don’t use the AC as much. I usually keep a window open upstairs at night until it’s too cold.

I especially don't want windows open while I'm sleeping bc I don't want to hear a single outside noise. Oh, and I have the hardest time if I go to bed and it seems too quiet to me! That's another hard thing about closing the windows. Of course, some noises, like the foxes screaming at night, we hear whether the windows are open or not!

The first time I heard foxes screaming I was so freaked out! It sounds like a woman being murdered! My cat was at the window flipping out too. I haven't heard them since I moved to GA but used to hear and see them in PA.

When I was a kid, there was a cat screaming in heat outside my window. I did not know what it was and I remember yelling that there were witches outside my window. I was so scared.

It's an absolutely chilling noise---even after years of hearing it, the first time we'd hear it on any given evening I would be startled. Luckily we would hear it before we went to bed, so then after that I wouldn't wake up from it unless it was an exceptionally dramatic night.

Central florida here. No windows open ever. In CA you could have them open most of the year except summer. It’s nice to have a house with fresh air. I’m still getting used to a/c only in Florida.

no matter how cold it gets, i have to have at least one window cracked for fresh, cool air. those will most likely be the bathroom windows because warm showers and closed spaces is a playground for mold or mildew.

It's a lot more humid in here if I open the windows than if I keep them shut with the AC on, which pulls humidity out of the air. We don't have mold or mildew but we definitely would if I left the air off and the windows open all the time. But this is Georgia where it's humid for a large portion of the year.
