We've been in the market for a larger SUV than the compact one we had for a while, and were waiting for the right car to come along as we only buy used. Finally I found a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with only 16K miles on it. It has ALL the bells and whistles that I wanted - leather seats, sunroof, driver 1 and 2 seat settings (DH and I share a car so this is important), lots of exterior sensors and safety features, smooth suspension, remote start and park assist, A/C vents in the back (and seats large and comfy enough for friends or our adult children), wireless phone charging, quiet interior, good sound system, power everything. Zippy engine and good mileage. It's a pretty metallic dark blue color with retro-style chrome trim, which I love. They've changed the body style with the 2024 model so we got a really good deal on it relative to the MSRP if we had bought it new. I prefer the 2023 body style to the new one anyway. Super happy with this purchase. If anyone else is looking for a mid-size SUV, I highly recommend the Santa Fe, and particularly the Limited package. In this video comparing the SE and Limited packages, the Limited one looks exactly like ours. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLeeYzVP0BU

Congrats! We are looking now to downsize our SUV. We currently have a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer and are looking at Subaru Forester. We do road trips so trunk space is important. I take my elderly Mom places and it's getting harder for her to get into the Trailblazer. Many of the smaller SUVs seem to have such small trunk space.

My sister has a Santa Fe that she's had forever. it's a secondary car now and the family borrows it from time to time when cars break down or we need more room.
I'm not sure what year it is but it doesn't have bluetooth or a backup camera but that thing it indestructible. It's got about 180k miles on it and it's still going strong.
I have a Hyundai Elantra that I bought new in 2018 and I plan to have it for a long time. The only thing I've had to do in 6+ years is replace the battery twice because I don't drive it very much. I've thought about the Santa Fe since my parents both have walkers and I can only take driver plus 2 passengers with me as one of the walkers has to go in the back seat. I do like having no car payment though so for now, we'll make do.
I love Hyundais and hope you'll love your new car!

We recently took a road trip with my brother in his Ford Bronco. We were impressed with both the ride and the trunk space - both of their 60-lbs dogs plus luggage for four people fit in the back. Four adults rode comfortably in the seats. I wasn't able to find a Bronco in our price range but that might be another option for you to look at. We also have friends who love their Subarus, though - you can't go wrong with that!

Congratulations. It is a very pretty car. I am still driving my Subaru and probably will be for the rest of my life. They are 300,000 mile engines and although I have had mine for many years, I haven’t hit my first 100,000 mile in this car yet! I just don’t drive much anymore. I am quite happy hanging around the house, crafting and puttering in my yards. And I can walk to the clubhouse easily for socializing if I want to. They also have a library and restaurant, pool, and several clubs I will eventually join. This is my second Forester and although it is quite old, I still love it.

I bought a 2024 Subaru Forester Limited in June and I absolutely love that car! Great safety features, easy to drive, easy to get in and out of. The back seat is roomy enough for adults and the trunk space is perfect. I can load up a month's work of Costco shopping without problem.

Living where you can walk to places sounds lovely. To be honest, it is nicer than I thought it would be. Most of the people have met here have been very nice. I haven’t done anything at the clubhouse yet because I have so much to do at the house and yards still. Plus, their pool/spa room is undergoing some renovations right now. When it is operational again, I plan to join the pool exercise classes. I do miss my pool. They distribute a little community newspaper for the 1510 homes that make up the senior estates community. In it they tell you what is happening in the community and list all of the meetings and club schedules. During the really hot days last month, they put in a little reminder about their library and that they wanted to invite members to come and sit in their air conditioning to stay cool. I thought that was really nice. They have a cooking club and several craft type clubs that I will be joining. With having Instacart to deliver anything from any of the stores listed for my area, including restaurants now, I rarely have a need to drive anywhere right now. And having a nice restaurant and opportunities to socialize within walking distance pretty much fulfills my needs these days. About the only driving I have been doing is to have my blood drawn for my regular monitoring checks. I don’t even need to have my doctor’s appointments in person unless I want a physical or have an issue. The estates recently opened up the golf course to people who want to just take a nice long walk on the paths through the lush greenery. The walkers get certain hours only, and they divide the golf course during that time so that the golfers can still get in 9 holes during walking sessions. Then the following day, they switch to the other 9 holes. You can still play a full 18 holes each day, you just need to start after the walkers are gone. I need to go walk the golf course when my knee recovers. When my realtor first told me about this development of homes for people 55 and over, I wasn’t sure I would like not having any children around. My previous neighborhood had tons of kids living there. We used to close off our street and have big block parties during the summers and there were certainly many more kids than adults. But since people on my street are so nice and then having the clubhouse so close, I am finding that I don’t mind it at all.

I just upgraded my 2021 Forester to a 2025 Forester. The 2025 has had some changes but not a ton that I can see. I upgraded from the mid premium to the Limited. Just as an FYI The basic things that limited has that are not on the upper premium is navigation, a heated steering wheel, 18 inch tires (premium is still 17 inch) and the leather seats…I think. I really wanted that heated steering wheel though. 😆😆 I got a great deal. I will tell you they gave me a good trade for my 2021 (but I only had just over 25,000 miles on it and it was in good shape). When I looked at what they were asking for it used it was only a 1000 or 2000 under my original sticker price…so I wouldn’t call that a great used car deal. Used car prices are crazy these days, almost as bad as new. ETA - the 2025 Forester does now have a wireless phone charger and CarPlay.

It sounds great, enjoy! I am a firm believer in buying cars that are a year or three old, love that you do that too. My current car was a year old with 11k on it. I've had it for 10 years and hasn't given me a minute of worry. Best of luck learning all the bells and whistles

With our Suburus & Ford, we bought them used with less than 10,000 miles. Super happy with all of them. Toyotas, unfortunately don't have the same discount on gently used cars or we haven't been able to find them. We bought 2 Rev 4 Hybrids in the last couple of months. One for middle ds who just graduated from college and one for dh. We're waiting for his to be delivered, hoping to pick it up on Saturday. There is apparently a shortage the hybrids, we had to put a deposit down one one in transit and wait a month. They're being sold before they even get delivered. Kind of crazy.
Glad you found something that works for you.
