Looking to go to Florida in February when the weather is really cold here in MN. We've done all of the southern parts of Florida. I've heard of Panama City before but know nothing about it. The airBnb prices look really good which I like. Trying to save money. What can you tell me about that area? Is Destin nicer? Where would you suggest I stay?

Honestly, with that hurricane, it’s hitting that area right now you might want to wait and see what the damage is.

I love PCB. Been there at the least 20 times. West side is quiet and beachy. East side is touristy

Agree about waiting until after this hurricane passes to check. My dd and her bf just went there before school started back up. They loved it. She likes to get an Airbnb or the other one. This time she rented an adorable little house right on the beach, ocean. Their plans were for Destin, but when she found that cute rental in Panama City Beach, she grabbed it.
I could ask her for more details. Although I picture her sitting near or actually on the beach most of the time. I know she misses Lake Huron a lot and goes there to visit whenever the opportunity arises. Me too. 😊

Panama City Beach in February is typically not warm like south Florida. I'm in central FL and January is our coldest month, February somewhat warmer. I would think it's probably in the 60's or maybe 70 during the day and 50'ish at night. So better than MN but not beach/swimming weather.
We were there last April and stayed at a Hyatt Place on the water which was nice.

I agree to wait until after Helene has gone through to see what the damage is, although it appears the far west panhandle may get less damage based on reports I'm seeing. If you are looking for bathing suit, get in the water weather that part of Florida in February is not going to be what you are looking for though. In addition to looking at Panama City and Destin, look at the area referred to 30A. Very nice rentals available there and good beaches.

Panama City Beach is beautiful. But...it can be chilly in February. Also, many places (like mini golf and restaurants) are closed for the Season except on the weekends (and even on the weekends some are closed). Just want you to be aware of that.

PCB has nice beaches. It has become pretty touristy over the years. We stopped vacationing there during the summer because it's so crowded and has become expensive. We have friends that live there and we'll go visit off season (like February when you are planning). Virtually no crowds, that is nice. It is on the colder side that time of year. And as Disneypal mentioned, lots of places are either closed or limited.
Destin is known to be a little nicer. It's just a little bit down the road from PCB, so the weather will be about the same.
