We are ready to go. Got the snacks and drinks ready. My eldest daughter is home in Melbourne from Brisbane for Uni break, so we are all going for the Lions. Hubby and my eldest daughter are both Hawthorn so they are a little disappointed they didn't make it. My team is St Kilda so I'm used to not being there.

I'm a Hawthorn supporter too, and even though I probably should be disappointed that we didn't make it to week 3 and 4 of the finals, I'm actually not - they far exceeded my expectations this year. 🤎💛
I really like both Sydney and Brisbane, so I would have been happy with either team winning. However, I was barracking for Brisbane, due to the Hawthorn connection (Leigh Matthews, Dennis Fagan, and Luke Hodge). If Buddy was still playing for Sydney, I may have barracked for them instead.
The game ended up being a fizzer. I don't think I've ever seen a scoreline like that before - the Brisbane goals, behinds, and points were all exactly double that of Sydney: 18.12.120 to 9.6.60.

I couldn’t watch the game - disadvantage of being an Aussie in Europe is that the AFL plays at times that are not friendly for us, as well as the difficulty of finding a feed. I’ve been a Sydney fan since we lived up on the Central Coast in the 1990s and managed to see a few finals games live at the SCG in that time. I was hopeful, but it wasn’t their year.

My DH was almost going to try to get to Melbourne for the game since he's a Swans supporter. Good thing he didn't! I can't believe they choked again so soon after the last time. On to football (soccer) season as a long-time member of Sydney FC.

I'm glad Brisbane won but would have liked it to have been a little more exciting. Brisbane were already celebrating part way into the last quarter. We still had a good day. It was great having the whole family together to watch.
AussieMeg Hubby and DD were happy the Hawks made it as far as they did. They were hoping for more at the end but I remember them at the beginning of the year thinking it wasn't going to go well. They certainly turned it around.
