Did you grow up hearing tales of Baba Yaga? I did not. I learned of her when I began to study children's literature in preparation for becoming a librarian.
Here's some information

There was a book our teacher read us in grade school, so I have heard of it.

No, but I do know the term. From John Wick. The boogeyman is how they used it. I have also just read a book series where one of the characters was Baba-Yaga Yellowlegs. She was a witch.

I was a tremendous reader of fairytales, so yes, I know of Baba Yaga. When I studied Czech in the Army at 18, I became familiar with Jezibaba, which led to even more stories of Baba Yaga. I made up my own Baba Yaga stories for ds.

Oh yes, there is a large Eastern-European population where I grew up. And my FIL, whose background was Ukrainian, Slovakian, & Polish, used to tell my kids about her when they were little.

My favorite author duo is Ilona Andrews. She's Russian. They incorporate a lot of mythology in their books, not just Russian. But I'm fascinated by the Russian stuff since it's a big hole in my knowledge.

One of my kids received a beautifully illustrated storybook featuring Baba Yaga. It was on regular rotation when the kids were little.

I have never heard of her. Both of my Dad’s parents were born in Ukraine and eventually moving to Canada, which is where they met and married. I wonder if my grandmother used to tell Baba Yaga stories to my dad and his siblings when they were young. If they did, Dad never shared any stories like that with us.
