I am tired of freezing my a$$ off during the cooler months. I live in a 115+ YO building (former high school converted to condos) with horribly drafty windows. The building is designated historic, so there is little we can do abut the windows situation and my main floor is SO stinking cold during the winter (my upstairs was added in 1980-something so it's a lot better). I end up hiding out in my office with the door closed cuz it's the only place I can stay comfortable.
I am tired of living in fleece lined pants and jackets when I'm at home.
So anyhow, do you have any long underwear that you'd recommend? Ones that don't overheat me if I'm in a "regular" heated space (so I don't have to take them on and off depending on whether I am in or out of the house) AND that will not add bulk under my clothing. BUT, they need to also keep me warm in a downstairs that sits at about 60-62 degrees (with the heat set to 68-70...grrrr). A scoop neck option as well as a tank option would be lovely.
I will want to buy 2-3 pairs of whatever I settle on. While cost isn't a huge factor, with 4-6 pieces total, it is relevant.
Thank you so much!

Sorry, I'm no help. Most of the time I'd be more comfortable in a meat locker than wearing long underwear, or heaven help me, pants.
Good luck. I think something made out of bamboo would be yummy against the skin.

Unfortunately my living room (my downstairs is completely open) has a complete wall of windows (up to 12+ feet high by maybe 16 feet wide) divided into 3 portions so shrink wrapping them really isn't an option. My neighbors and I have discussed it. About the only thing we could do would be to have huge custom made "covers" for the windows during the winter, but then we'd need a place to store them for 7 months of the year. And to hire someone to install and remove them as well. So, right now, we all freeze (and pay horrendous heating bills).

Cuddl Duds work for me. There are many different fabric weights and colors to choose from. They are affordable and widely available.

Have I purchased 32 degree products at Costco (not a member but go with a friend once or twice a year) in the past? Or am I making it up that they sell this brand?

I find if my shoulders are covered I feel warm. Around my apartment I wear a vest more often then not regularly with short sleeves.
You might try to cover even the half bottoms of the windows. It helps with the cold air. The rising heat handles to cool air from the top of the windows. Although permeant weather stopping would help on the top windows. That would be a one time treatment. Insulated drapes on the bottoms, maybe?
Another alternative might be ceiling fans to more the warmer air down...
High ceilings are great but they do have issues. I can feel the difference when I climb to the upper cabinets and my ceiling are only 9 feet. The neighbors on 2nd & 3rd floors have 8 foot ceilings.

Do you have a Uniqlo nearby? I imagine Seattle would have one. I’ve bought their winter underwear for a ski trip. They seemed fine.

We just got a Costco membership a couple of weeks ago. I'm thrilled to see, based on comments above, that they carry this brand. Dh loves their t-shirts, but he keeps ordering the same 2 colours. Perhaps now I can correct that. 😉 Your condo sounds like it would be beautiful and unique. Those pain in the ass windows in winter sound like they would be divine the rest of the year.

Well, other than the summer months when we cook (direct sun from sunup till about 2 pm gets our places well into the mid 80’s by 10am) with no AC and no way to add it to the downstairs windows, and the winter months when we freeze, it IS lovely. April, May, June, and September are the months where I don’t either have fans running 24/7 or am bundled up with space heaters running. The joys of living in an old building, it’s not for the faint of heart!

I have a lot of 32 Degree clothes from Costco and am really pleased with the way they feel and look and keep me warm. If my feet are cold then I’m cold all over so a good pair of warm socks and slippers might help. I also have a couple of Snuggies, the big oversized versions for indoors. I sympathize as I hate feeling cold.

Do you have any curtains on the windows? If so, I wonder if something that is thicker would be helpful at keeping the colder air out?

Another possibility -- a heated vest or jacket. I bought my son an Ororo brand vest from Amazon a few years ago and he has been happy with it. Keeps him warm when his office is cold, wears it to walk his dog too.

32 Degrees long underwear are affordable and pretty good, but what we got for snowmobiling was silk long underwear. It’s thin so you can wear them under street clothes without issue and breathable because it’s a natural fiber. Silk is more expensive but so, so nice.
The house my DH lived in growing up had big tall windows like you mentioned. What his parents did was made some inserts out of foam for the windows. They covered one side with silver reflective stuff and the other side with black fabric. They didn’t make them the full height of the windows but in smaller sections that could be stored in a closet and “stacked” one on top of the next in the windows when in use. In the summer months they would put them with the reflective side out to help keep the house cooler and in the winter they would put the black side facing out. I think even if you were to cover part of the windows it would help somewhat.
Have you ever considered getting an infrared space heater to use when you’re in the room?

I always liked cuddl dud’s long underwear. They are silk, warm but not too hot and not bulky, IMO.

Do you have any curtains on the windows? If so, I wonder if something that is thicker would be helpful at keeping the colder air out? I have roller blinds. High quality blinds on a remote that I bought when I moved in 7 years ago, but BEFORE I knew what I was up against as far as the heat and cold. These windows are very large. Lovely…and they and the view sold me on the place, but huge and impractical. One of these days when I remodel, I will change the blinds out. I wont ever do curtains…we're talking, well, I dunno, but a ridiculous amount of yardage, and I have allergies and just removing them to be cleaned, well, no thanks, but I will be looking to find something better for sure. To be clear, the panes themselves are double layer, and not terribly old, it’s the old frames that are an issue. Ahhhh, the good old days. Gawd, can y’all tell that these windows are the bane of my existence or what?!?

I’m another fan of Cuddl Duds (soft wear). You can get them through Kohls. Look for “under scrubs leggings” or another type is Cuddl Duds Climatesmart layering leggings. The under scrubs ones are more for inside. They don’t “stick” to the pants worn over them. I’ve worn the Climatesmart ones camping in sub-zero temps, skiing, etc. I've never felt sweaty when wearing inside. I know people who work in chilly warehouses and they are happy with the Climatesmart ones. I don’t think you can use Kohls percent off coupons, but Cuddl Duds are regularly buy one get 2nd 50% off. I have Cuddl Duds tops that correspond with these leggings for 10 -12 years and they still look nice.
They have fleece versions, but I personally just don’t like to wear fleece clothes against my skin.

I like Cuddle Duds. I have found them @ TJ Maxx or Marshall's. I live in the Northern climate and wear them from November on. They are light weight and comfortable. I, too, lived in a house with a 20' wall of windows. I hear you about the cold. I used to spend a lot of time in the master bedroom (warmest room in the house) or in my sewing room which was next to the furnace. I feel your pain.
