CARDtober #2 Washi it up!
For my sample I created a baby card for some dear friends who have experienced loss and infertility and are now blessed with a wonderful baby boy. We are overjoyed for them. This card actually was mailed two weeks ago!
For this card i selected several coordinating washi tapes (Recollections and Paper Studio) and applied them to a strip of cardstock adhering the ends to the back of the strip. The strip was trimmed at an angle and adhered to a 4" x 5.25" base. The images (Peddler's Pack from 1997 and Fiskars 2012) were stamped in Memento Luxe Teal Zeal) on the base. The base is backed with pearlescent paper (Paper Pizzaz) trimmed with my CM wave blade. All layers are adhered to an A2 size card.
The main goal is to have some creative time to push your boundaries a bit!

Thanks for the challenge, angel97701! Love your colour combo, and that the strips are at an angle.

Cute angel97701 ! Some of your washi seems to have a texture, lending multi-dimensions. Congrats to the baby boy parents. I was inspired by the angled strips. I tried resizing my card BEFORE the upload, let's see if that helps.

Great cards angel97701 and jjpeapea. Did you put any dry glue under the washi? Some of my washi tapes don't hold or come loose after awhile.

I don't have a lot of washi tape but I did pull out this Lego themed one to use on a birthday card for DS

Thank you for this challenge! I've been meaning to try using this super fancy, wide washi tape on cardstock for cardmaking. The images are gorgeous but a little smaller than I'm used to using as focal points. I stuck the tape to white cs scraps and then chopped it down to size which will hopefully keep the edges well stuck down. Washi tape by jo.blackford, on Flickr

So cool the way you worked those stripes, jjpeapea . I love the way they continue from one square to the one in the alternate corner. Of course you have LEGO tape, Linda LOL. Perfect way to use it. Ooooh, love that artsy card, joblackford ! Who knew you could do that with Washi? Here's mine, Didn't do much to change it from your wrapped cs, angel97701; just set the block vertically. washi greeting by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

angel97701 , that is a lovely baby card, and your angled strips look fabulous! jjpeapea , very cute and clever to use the washi to make boxes and divide your card front into quarters. It looks great! Linda , your Lego birthday card is delightful. Any child would love it. I am envious of your Lego Washi tape. joblackford , I have never seen such wide Washi, and with such lovely scenes on it. You used it well for this challenge. grammadee , that is a very cute and endearing anniversary card. I’m not sure how all of you have coordinating washi. Mine all have designs that were a bit difficult, but I also liked the angled washi, so I copied the idea, and then I cut my washi covered card stock into a tag and two banners. I made a mistake, which you may already have noticed. I cut the tag wrong. My musical washi is upside down.

Your washi looks very coordinated, scrapnnana. Love the blue/green combo, and how you did the horizontal banner pieces to balance the tag.

I have never seen such wide Washi, and with such lovely scenes on it. You used it well for this challenge. Thank you. I actually got inspiration from a recent Kristie Marcotte video where she used washi and PET tapes, and Vicki Papaioannou shows a lot of different kinds in her mixed media videos. I got influenced to buy washi tape mostly by the journaling and planner community.

Linda You have Lego washi tape??!! A little jealous here! I was a Lego day camp lady breifly. Fun! I love its use on your Lego card. joblackford OOOO your washi is SOOOOO pretty, like a beautiful watercolor painting. Love how you put them on cardstock and arranged them. Your card turned out so pretty. grammadee Awwwwwww I can feel the love oozing off the card. I like how each strip of washi says "love you, love you, love you". So much love! scrapnnana so pretty! Those colors are a favorite. I am not someone who notices music note arrangements, just pretty colors and shapes. Washi tags and banners look cool - I'll have to remember that idea as a possibility to add a lot of impact in a small space.

Wow, I am super impressed with all the great cards!
jjpeapea Very clever design, two squares are so pretty with the butterfly is great!
Linda I think I have that washi tape. Love the birthday card for DS,
joblackford LOVE the Japanese washi. I know you spent time there, as did I 47 years ago. I do love the images and you have used them as a great focal point.
grammadee The hearts and changed directionality is brilliant. Very nice card.
scrapnnana Fun use on the tag and embellishments for your card!
I am home after going to the Twin Cities for 2 days. Now time to see the other challenges!

There's a piece of washi tape in place of the sentiment banner in the center of one of the top middle card. You just have to look closely! It has koi fish swimming in a pond which seemed like it fit the heron theme very well and worked over the navy blue cs. Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr

joblackford, your cards are delightful! It’s a good use of the washi tape, and I love the various animal and bird designs. I can’t tell if they are stamped or ephemera, but they catch the eye.

I have exactly one roll of washi tape that I bought because I actually liked it. The rest were part of an assorted pack on got early on because it was sale and washi was a thing -- a thing I didn't have and hadn't tried but a thing other people seemed to like. I think this would have worked better with at least two patterns of washi, but here's my attempt.

Yes you may get glitter on your hands that eventually ends up on your face! LOL! The CARDtober #9 challenge is to make a card that has glitter of some sort incorporated in the design. It can be glitter paper, glitter washi, loose glitter, or Glitter Stickles.
For my example I used glitter paper for the base layer. The next layer is a pearlescent paper but this is not necessarily part of the challenge. After I stamped, colored, die cut, shaped, and assembled the flowers on the card I added Stickles in two different colors. The flower centers have a large chunky glitter added to liquid glue. Oh, there is also glitter in the iridescent embossing powder on the sentiment.
Have fun and create something sparkly! This sparkly card was gifted to my MIL last week for her 84th birthday.

Shakti What a fun way to use the washi you do like! I think trends can be very subjective, and sometimes I don't jump on right away.

Lovely card angel97701 - I bet your MIL loved it. In my case it will have to be glitter paper because we try to keep our home glitter free (with extreme difficulty!) I think I have a couple of sheets, definitely one pale yellow-gold. I’ll see what I can come up with tomorrow afternoon!

Love that pretty green, Shakti. And the texture of that background. I have to remember to take out my texture plates. Thanks for the new challenge, angel97701. Pretty sure I have some glitter pp. If not, I know I have some glitter washi. Your glitter card is gorgeous. Love the flowers with their lifted petals, all the glitter and shine.

Can't wait to see what comes out of your plotting, Shakti! I looked for glitter pp, and what I found was a Spellbinders' foam glitter sheet in green. Thought Christmas card. Hmmm... Have gone through my Christmas dies, and now have a plan of my own. Won't be as elaborate as yours, angel97701, but it will meet your latest challenge.

Here is my take... Glitter foam, glitter cs, and glitter paste, so I think it meets the challenge LOL. Ct #9 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr The colours didn't come out so well in the photo, but I like the look of it IRL. Tthat shaped mat is a deep moss green foil, and the inking is a pretty gold rather than a sickly yellow. Still have an extra sprig of holly and all the other supplies out. Might just make another of these before stowing away supplies and tools.
