What do you think of that SB glitter foam, grammadee ? I keep looking at them but never quite buying them? I would never have purchased this. justjac and I got some as a welcome gift at a crop. But I LOVE it! So easy to cut with even intricate dies. I say if you see some colours you like, grab it up!

grammadee, your card is beautiful! Shakti, very pretty Christmas card, and I’m glad that you pointed out the glitter berries, because I am apparently blind. I rarely use glitter anything, because a grandchild dumped a full jar of glitter on my carpet years ago, and no matter how much I vacuumed, I couldn’t get rid of the glitter. I banned glitter from my home after that. However, I did find one glitter paper in my stash that wouldn’t spread throughout my house. Unfortunately, I did not think my project through, probably since it had been a very long time since I used glitter paper. I chose an intricut die, and the glitter paper did not die cut well, no matter how many times I ran it through my Big Kick. It was very time consuming to weed. Once I finished weeding, I decided to keep the rest simple.

That glittery frame is gorgeous, scrapnnana! Well worth the effort. It really stands out against that blue background to make a super pretty card.

grammadee So glittery! I like that even the sentiments are glitter paper. But I also like the textured background and then the patterned/cut background as well. Shakti 3 for 1 woo hoo! Your cards are so well done. Your papers and elements play so nice together. scrapnnana Worth it! Your frame looks great and adds plenty of detail to highlight the sentiment. angel97701 Thank you for the glitter challenge! Your flowers are so spectacular. They look like they are enameled or something. The lighting might have not captured all my glitter, but I have red glitter background paper, glittery candy canes paper, glitter silver washi strip and glitter emboss on the bow and sentiment. So sparkly!

scrapnnana --BTDT with paper that doesn't die cut well. Glitter paper can really be a challenge and so can high quality black paper! Your patience paid off because the card is gorgeous! jjpeapea Very fun use of many different kinds of glitter. I am glad the challenge was enjoyable you did a fantastic job.

I used glitter cardstock and a foil sticker paper that I was given which looks like iridescent rainbow glitter close up. (I also posted this in the sketch challenge.) Glitter sunburst by jo.blackford, on Flickr The lighting is awful but hopefully you can see the contrast between the glittery yellow gold cs and the shiny foil printed sticker paper with a glittery design. CARDtober #16 Get Inky! Use ink to create the background on your card. In my example I used six different inks stenciled on a background that used the matching 3-D embossing folder. These are Altenew Geometric Triangles. I really prefer the embossing folder version as it is easier to line up the stencils!
You can also blend inks like this card or this card. Another method is to brayer ink on to your card base like this card. Another fun way to use ink—directly ink your embossing folder and then emboss white cardstock, see this blog post. This card shows many other ways to create backgrounds as is comes from the scraps of a bunch of different techniques over the last 15 years. The goal of the challenge today is to get your fingers inky! Have fun!

jjpeapea, your glittery candy canes look good enough to eat! joblackford I absolutely LOVE what you did with the sunbeams and clouds on your cards! Thanks for the new challenge, angel97701. Your card is really striking. Mine won't be nearly as intricate, but I do like to ink embossing folders, so I think I will see if I can find a snowfall one.

None of the links to other examples are working for me, angel97701 . And I definitely need to see additional ideas for this challenge. I had kitbop check them while we were in the online crop today. They worked for her? Maybe turn your computer on and off? They are working for me. My blog has many examples, and the links were to specific ones. snippetscrafter.blogspot.com/Examples are on 1/30/24, 1/17/23, 7/30/24, 9/10/24, and 9/24/24. Hope that helps!

The example links are working fine for me. Lots of different ink blendy backgrounds I used a 3D embossing folder technique I saw on Vicki P's YT here - youtu.be/7qC6QOF3Oks?si=OejDfNzAq-FlLPlr That put dark red ink into the deepest parts of the design. The contrast between the white watercolor paper and the red inking didn't look quite right so I thought I should add more inking. I brushed ink lightly around the edges with a different red, regretted that it looked too pink, added the original red, added yellow/gold lacquer pen dots, regretted that (and put the pen in the donate pile!) I made the best of it with a gold sentiment. It's not horrible, but I'm not going to do it this way for the rest of my cards. October share by jo.blackford, on Flickr A good experiment. Thanks for the challenge I'll come back with an example I like better tomorrow. It's mostly done, just needs a sentiment.

joblackford! That was my hope that card makers would try some new things. I do like your card and the description of your experiment. Not every card will be a master piece BUT we should learn! I know I do, and you don't always see the "oops" I really don't like it ones! LOL

Here ya go, angel97701. This technique is one of my favorites with embossing folders. I borrowed the idea of the chimney from yesterday's Justine Hovey class. She had fun Christmas images flying into the chimney. I decided to use some feet from my Jaded Blossom gnome add on dies. Ct #16 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

That’s such a fun card grammadee! Perfect use for those gnome legs. Here’s my more satisfying inky experiment, starting with colored cardstock, inking on the 3D embossing folder to get a darker shade of red in the deepest grooves. I added the glitter tape, a thin band of baker’s twine, and my own color scheme challenge to make this a 4-fer! I could mass produce this one and change up the sentiments - both peace and joy in the same font looked good. CARDtober challenges by jo.blackford, on Flickr

Here is my inky contribution: I am not the deftest ink blender and nearly gave up on this one, but in the end I decided it looked sort of blustery.

joblackford I like your card. I like all the shades, layers and interest. Very dimensional. On your second card I see how the ink brings out the details. grammadee how cute and comical with those legs sticking out. You used the folder technique so well! Shakti so snowy and pretty. angel97701 Thank you for the ink folder challenge! Wow does your card look great. I have never inked a folder before, so this was a new technique for me. My ink is uneven but I like the swirly snow effect it created. As for inky fingers, I promise this clumsy crafter had much ink on the fingers.

angel97701, your example card is absolutely gorgeous! WOW!!! grammadee, cute card, and I love the snowstorm and inking. joblackford, both your cards are lovely, but the second one is really lovely. I like the silver ribbon just above the embossing. It really makes it stand out more, and the sentiment also stands out more. jjpeapea, very cute snowman/snowstorm. You did a great job on the inking. I inked an embossing folder, too. The inside of the card will say, “Get Well Soon!”

grammadee OH MY GOODNESS, LOL funny! Great job with challenge. joblackford I do like the version, color on color really does make it dimensional. Shakti Hand-made is not about perfection, it is the blustery that makes this card really fun IMHO. jjpeapea I ALWAYS end up inky after playing with ink and embossing folders. Glad you gave it a try and your card looks fantastic! scrapnnana I have this EF! Great use of the technique and your images. Now I need to find this stamp set, is it a layering stamp set with matching dies? It makes me happy to see so many try this challenge!

scrapnnana I have this EF! Great use of the technique and your images. Now I need to find this stamp set, is it a layering stamp set with matching dies? Thank you. The chickens aren’t stamps but are fully colored images from Creative Fabrica. I can’t remember if they were jpg or png files. I tweaked them slightly and then printed and cut them with my Cameo. I also typed the phrases that I wanted, using my Silhouette software, then converted them to print and cut, too. I have the Business Edition of the Silhouette software. I adapt a lot of designs. If they are print only, I turn them into print and cut. As for Creative Fabrica, I got the $47 year’s membership and have definitely gotten my money’s worth from it. I have downloaded a ton of designs for printing and cutting.

angel97701 is on a road trip and has asked me to post CARDtober #23 for her. She set the challenge, PM'd it to me, and I am simply copying and pasting it here. CARDtober #23: The product we are playing with is RIBBON! Tie it up with two or more ribbons or fibers! For this challenge you are to use at least two different ribbons. They can be tied together in a bow, or used in some other way. In my sample I wove together 8 different scraps of ribbon from my left-over ribbon jar. Here is her cool sample card... Her explanation: "This example on my blog shows three ribbons/fibers tied together to decorate a gift box. snippetscrafter.blogspot.com/2022/12/vertigo-christmas-gift-box-with-stazon.html Threading the ribbons through a tag would also count.
