From my scanning of home decor posts on Pinterest, it looks like painted accent walls are making a comeback. I love an accent wall because I'm usually too chicken to paint a whole room in some dark, moody color. I particularly like this look. pin.it/1kufVPp4eWhat do the peas think? Has anyone added an accent wall that they love recently/

My DS and his husband have a very pretty darker blue accent wall in their dining room. They've used the color in other rooms in their house but it is very striking.

I have no accent walls in my house, but when I finally get around to remodeling I'd like to add some.
In a perfect world, I'd love to do the long wall that runs from my kitchen through the dining area and then into the living room in a brick. It would fit into the aesthetic of my building. There are brick "tiles" for interior applications like this that look amazing with mortar (not regular grout) in between. I'm sure it would be ridiculously expensive, but one can dream.
I am planning on repainting my bedroom (a much lighter color) soon and want to add something on the wall behind the bed, Maybe a paint, maybe thin wood paneling in a fun design, maybe something textural...something.
I did paint over the (muted medium) blue accent wall in my office last year when I repainted. I painted the entire room a soft muted green and decided any accent would be too much.
Have fun deciding what to do...so many options!

Our bedroom has a navy accent wall behind the bed. The other colours in the room are peacock shades - emerald green etc. with soft blush pink accents.
Our other 3 walls are white but I am going to re-do them in the blush pink as it looks a little stark as it is 😊
We have dark wood flooring like your picture 😊

We just painted several rooms in our house. The bedroom and our "bonus" room have accent walls and I really like them. I wish we had done some other wall treatments as well (like board and batten or something) but so far have not added that.

When we first moved into our house, the office had a teal accent wall, and a window in the center of the wall. Call me weird, but the contrast between the light coming in through the window and the dark paint on the wall blinded me and kind of gave me a headache. That being said, I’m more of a light wall color person, but I adore the look of a warm olive green wall with brass accents. There’s something about those together that sings.

I love that look! I have already chosen the paint for the accent in my master and my living room accent wall currently has 5 different swatches painted on it to give me a sense of what will look the best.when I get around to painting all of the interior walls in this house.

I have no accent walls in my current home exactly ( unless you count a wall of fireplaces& built ins ) but I did in my last house & I like them.
Sometime it can add dimension to a room when used properly. We had an accent wall in our living room in the lighter part of the room leaving the darker areas a cream white. We had the Bay Area of our kitchen an accent wall because it helped define the dinette area We had the 2nd floor hallway wall that you face when you come in the front door ( open rail ) as an accent wall because everyone looked there so why not make it interesting. It was also the only single story wall in the whole foyer hallway area and I wasn’t brave enough to paint the larger walls colors that might not age well. lol
If you like it, Go for it, it’s just paint.

My walls are light grey (Sidewalk by Benjamin Moore). I have an accent wall in my bedroom behind my headboard and in my dining room that are lime green (I believe it is called Pear, by who?). I love them. They make me so happy!

Our bedroom and our living room / dining room both have accent walls. They are just 1 wall in each room and are several shades darker than the other 3 walls (on the same paint chip strip but a few apart). When we originally moved in here, we painted the LR/DR wall a deep cranberry and the rest of the walls on the main level were a darker tan. I didn't want to go that different when we repainted, but this adds just the right amount of variety for us.

I don't in my current house, but I've just bought my childhood home and will be starting updates soon. I will be doing an accent wall in the living room and probably in the master bedroom. The master bedroom will just be paint and the living room will be some type of wood slats, or board and batten, or paneling.

I'm happy that it's come back around since I did mine 8 years ago. I knew eventually I'd be in style again.
Our dining area and living room share 2 walls. I painted those a dark blue color. Depending on the light, it will go more grey. I love it.

Just last year we converted our dining room into a reading room. One wall became an accent wall, but we used wallpaper instead. There are some awesome wallpapers out there now. We really like how it turned out. A whole room of it would have been overwhelming in our smaller house I think.

When we were getting our last house ready to sell, we wanted to paint the fireplace with an accent color. Our stager suggested we paint on either side of the fireplace and we loved it! Wished we had done it 20 years sooner.

I still haven't recovered from all the accent walls I had in my house from 1998 - 2020! I'm just enjoying having plain white walls right now, and I think it will be a long time before I commit to another accent wall. Having said that, I *love* the look of accent walls!

The blue wall is the accent wall in my grey kitchen. It was a tough decision for this decorating challenged person but I love it!

Ive always loved an accent wall, bit we dont currently have any. I think they are a great way to bring in a color that you wouldnt necessarily want for the entire room

Question - are your walls textured and, if so, did you have to have that sanded down before you applied the wallpaper? I love the look of an accent wall with wallpaper but the texture has always been a concern for me.

If you like dark but not too dark, I like Hale Navy as an accent color. It looks good with gold fixtures too.

It had been damaged by a roof leak and the cost to replace it was very expensive (it was custom stuff). I agree though that texture would have bothered me.

My sister is a painter and paper hanger and they had a whole house full of paneling in pretty much every room when they bought it. They tried pulling it off in one room but discovered it was all put up with construction adhesive and there was no way they were getting that smooth. What she ended up doing was skim coating the paneling and then hung liner paper, then either wallpapered or painted over that depending on what they wanted for that particular room.

We plan on doing shiplap on the tv wall in the living room. We will whitewash it the same gray as all of the walls in that room. That way, it won’t stand out too much, but you can also still see the grain of the wood. It’s mostly for texture, but I think it will add some interest to the room without it being overwhelming.

I have a blue, somewhat similar to Kellee's (maybe a little more navy) on one wall in my living room. I like accent walls whether they are in or out.

We have a deep red accent color on the lower part of the wall in two places of our open entry/living/dining area (dividing wall between the area and kitchen and up the stairs) and still love it 18 years later. **GypsyGirl**, I'd love to do a big print wallpaper in a couple of places but don't want to deal with the prep of smoothing out the orange peel finish that is so common here.

My living room walls are white, but the wall on either side of the chimney breast is a beautiful deep flat navy. I love the warmth it brings to the room. And in my bedroom, three walls are painted in Farrow and Ball's Vardo (a rich teal). The whole room was meant to be that colour, but I ran out of paint, so did the window wall in white. 😄 It works really well.
