Years ago I used to always get my pictures from Costco and get 2 sets, one for scrapping and one for the regular albums I had. Then started just getting one set and had them saved in my computer. Now my computer is on the fritz and need to get those pictures off the computer and onto something I can access to print photos for scrapping, picture frames etc. what do you all do for photo storage? I do have an external hard drive but want something where I can know the pictures will always be there.

I have my photos backed up to an external hard drive, as well as backed up to Google Photos + Amazon photos. I also have paid a company to scan many of my physical copies of photos and put them on a digital download so I can make copies of that download and store in a safe.

I have an external HD that I plug in monthly for my photos and videos (some services don't back up the videos!!!), Amazon photos, Backblaze (which backs up my CPU and my external HD), and I tend to load them into Shutterfly after editing.
I will absolutely never forget my old external HD trying to die and making it almost impossible to get my videos off of it. I almost lost every single video from my oldest child's birth through the most recent Christmas morning. Never again.

I have my digital photos backed up on an external hardrive, a couple different online sources and use all Apple products so they’re all in my cloud. I have a LOT of photos (as scrapbookers do) and it only costs me $2.99/month for storage.

I use an EHD, Amazon photos and google. My EHD and Amazon are my main ones cause they are organized by year month and if my EHD died I could could down load the same structure already organized where as is google is big, unorganized batches.
Whatever you decide I suggest getting an EHD asap and getting everything saved to it quickly.

Yes, you either upload directly to the service provider or you can download to your device and the upload. I have only used my phone & Google photos storage to order prints from several different companies (Shutterfly, PersnicketyPrints, Costco Photo [RIP😞]) for close to 10 yrs probably. Difficulty will depend on the user interface of the app/website (PersnicketyPrints is not easy) and user comfertability with tech. YMMV

You can also upload photos that are downloaded to your phone (likes ones that someone sent you) or upload photos from your computer to Google photos (same with any cloud storage). I do pay for extra space as I have over 100k photos stores in Google photos. I also keep a backup on my computer hard drive. I believe I have about 20k-30k photos when I first transitioned to Google photos and it took about a week to upload them all from my computer to Google photos. That was about 10+ yrs ago.

I have 2 external hard drives. One is kept by my PC and is updated when I upload photos. Then a few times a year I update the other.
I keep 2 years worth of photos on my PC to make scrapbooking easier.
Then I make sure a year is all on the external drives and delete from my PC.
I used to also back up on CDs but no longer do.
Everyone knows where the external hard drives is at my PC desk so it is easy to grab in case if an emergency.
