Learned this week that an infected tooth will do the same. Oh interesting- I hadn't heard that before but it makes sense.

For the elderly, is one of the causes not being as active and not drinking enough to consistently void?

For the elderly, is one of the causes not being as active and not drinking enough to consistently void? I asked the doctor when my mom got it and he said no, drinking more water doesn't always help. Lot of it is due to the lower estrogen which leads to an overgrowth of bacteria. That is why her doctor prescribed an estrogen creme for her.

So hormone imbalance is a cause, would this lead to pH being off, too? Thanks for the info.

I just got back from taking some stuff over there and he's still pretty loopy. He thinks I'm my sister and then he'll realize it isn't the case but his dreams are like his reality. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon!

This thread just reminded me of an incident with my grandfather. He called the police because we were trying to poison him with fish 😳. The police were really nice. He had dementia and I don’t remember if he had a UTI and don’t remember the outcome.
I know that UTIs are more common after a hysterectomy as well. I had a few not long after mine and I have the estradiol cream which I need to get better at using. It helps keep things moister the way they should be.
This is a good reminder as we and our parents get older.

We went through this with my mother-in-law in the last year or so before she died. After the first one, anytime she seemed off, my husband would make sure she was tested for a UTI - and it was always positive.
