I jumped awake at 5am with the alert. Couldn't fall back asleep.

Wait, was this nationwide? I thought it was just Texas that got woken up at 4:53.

"A Blue Alert is activated when a violent attack on a law enforcement officer has occurred and poses an imminent threat to law enforcement or the general public." My alarm goes off at that time anyway so I didn't notice it right away.

I think most states have a “blue alert”, California has it. But we don’t all get phone notifications. On my phone, besides emergency ones, I only have amber alert. I don’t have any options for other colored alerts.
ETA - Blue alerts can also fall under “Public Safety Alerts”. But anyways, never received one on my phone.

What were the comments, for those of us who can't see?

I thought it was just Texas too. I didn't hear it. I have alerts silenced.

Comments were along the lines of "What the heck can I do about an officer getting shot who is 6 hours away?"
Also, a funny gif about everyone at the table grabbing things and running off....
I have to say, I agree, why was this sent to anyone who was more than an hour away.
Over the years, I was awakened by Amber alerts (from far away) so much that the phone is left downstairs for the night and I am sleeping upstairs.

I have Amber alerts turned off because I am not getting out of bed to go look for a white Subaru last seen in the next county.
I'll see it when I get up or check the news, and I'll keep it in the back of my mind as I drive or whatever.
I'm quite sure I don't need to be notified of any Blue Alerts, they can share that amongst themselves because what am I going to do. I guess it would let you know to avoid the area but pretty sure there will be a strong police presence there already by the time I get this alert. (Which I've never heard of before) What's next?

One of the primary jokes was the guy they were looking for had certainly long since crossed the border into Oklahoma. Those folks should have gotten the wake-up call instead!
I have those notifications turned off, but my husband and kids - who both happened to sleep at our house that night - did not. So yesterday I went on and turned them off on all their phones.
