leannec, I hope you feel better and more inspired. It sucks to feel so down. Where did you meet the new guy? Thanks! I met him online ... there are some normal guys online ... I'm normalish and I'm online! jeremysgirl Which scary movie are you watching? I am a horror aficionado and love scary movies! I can't watch gory movies but I like psychological ones ... loved Paranormal Activity though I know a lot of people hated it! I'm sorry you're feeling lousy too. Thanks ... we are a bunch here! We are making reservations to go to England and Scotland next year in July. I haven’t been anywhere since 1-Covid 2-buying a new home 3-adopting a sick, old dog and 4-newest grandchild who needs babysitting. So this is a big deal for me and I’m super excited. So jealous! My dream destinations! (Other than Hawaii) The cruise was amazing. We had lots of adventures including zip lining in Newfoundland, kayaking in Prince Edward Island and electric scootering in New Brunswick. My bestie turned 60 during the cruise and our cabin attendant put up decorations while we were away for the day and then made us both towel animals to bring home. The entertainment was great, food was delicious and music was plentiful. I've never been further east than Toronto ... sounds fabulous! What cruise line were you on ... I'm researching cruising now ... @leanne if we lived closer we could lounge around together and watch Bravo!!! 😄 YES! And Netflix!! Dinner tonight is takeaway pizza because we have a ton of errands to run once DH gets off work and then finish up packing (we leave tomorrow) so super easy is the plan and the girls will eat the leftovers. Have a great time ... you are visiting family? leannec I couldn’t get off the bed from Thurs last week until Wednesday this week. If you had what I had, the light switch changed and at 11 on Wednesday I was better. I am way better now. Good to know! I hope that switch changes for me too! leannec. Have you been subbing at all? Nope ... mainly because there has been nothing available in my grade levels and specialty ... it will change next week I'm sure so I expect to work then! If I taught Phys. Ed. or Elementary I would have been working ... lots of those teachers have been off ...

Do you know what Red Barn Market in Victoria is? Is it as good as Trader Joe’s? I know they are different but they are both awesome. Red Barn is more like a local farmer's market store here than TJ's. They have a lot of similarities with no big brands, but TJ's doesn't carry local products so I shop both. I'm more likely to shop at Pepper's in Victoria. What is Peppers like? It’s too far away to shop now. Even Root Cellar on McKenzie is too far and their stuff is great. It’s worth checking out for their green sauce. The kids put it on everything. Their produce, baked good, deli and meat counter are wonderful. They even have dairy. It is very good.

Pepper's was our local grocery store and I loved helping mom do the weekly shop there. It is still fast and easy for us to shop when staying with my DSis and generally has what we are looking for, but it is tiny. Packed, but tiny. And good.

Have a great time ... you are visiting family? sort of - Dh and I are meeting up with my younger sister and BIL at Heathrow (they're flying out of Boston, we're flying out of Orlando) and we'll spend two weeks together in England and Scotland. We'll meet up with our older sister (who lives in England) and some 2nd cousins -including my younger sister's "twin" cousin. They were born the same day a few hours apart. She is the youngest grandchild and he was the oldest great grandchild of our paternal grandparents. They both turned 50 on Wednesday. But we're also taking in some sites that relate to our Dad - there's a D-Day museum (Dad went over on D-day) and a Gordon Highlanders Museum (that was his WW2 regiment) and we'll go to the Isle of Mull where Dad's family was from.

There is a campaign promise here that the Conservative Party in BC wants to bring back plastic bags, straws and cutlery. It all has to be free of charge.
We got rid of plastic years ago. My good grocery store makes excellent reusable bags I use for groceries or hobbies. They are big and very useful for other things. They are about $2 each and have lasted at least 5 years.
Why is BC considering going backwards? We are the environmental province.

Ugh, the landscapers were fertilizing our front yard and noticed a rattlesnake slither into the plants by our front porch/door. They were whacking away trying to get it out but DH told them to get out of there because it can bite through their pants. Ugh, now I have to watch out when I go out on the porch. Between that and the skunks tearing up front yards looking for grubs, it's a nightmare. Thankfully the HOA takes care of our front yards.

We have some poisonous snakes here in Texas and I'm terrified I'll get one in my yard. Closest I've come is a turtle that found his way to my backyard and lots of lizards/geckos.

Hello and thanks, everyone, for the kind words the last couple of days. I apologize for apparently making things worse, not better with my yammering. Will try to go through the responses again this weekend so I can answer any questions, etc. ntsf, I was so sorry to read about your SIL’s passing. So heartbreaking for the whole family. My DD is here but she’s headed to some kind of concert in the city tonight and won’t come home till tomorrow night. Hard to believe she’s over 40. Dinner MIGHT be sloppy joes because she picked up buns for me ( jeremysgirl) but more likely I’ll wait till Sunday when we’re both here for dinner. Tomorrow I will be going on a dinner cruise with the gentleman friend, and we’ll pick her up at her friend’s house and bring her home with us afterwards. So romantic.

Have hamburger cabbage soup simmering. I think I'll share with my older neighbor couple if I don't freeze some. The once in a blue moon steak yesterday was good but nothing thrilling. I think I have to be in just the right mood to appreciate a good steak. And sometimes not even a "good" one. Some of the cheaper seem to have more flavor to me. I'll chew a bit more for better flavor. Lol Went to an estate sale of a couple in their 90s that moved into an apartment after living in this home for 65 years. They were both artists/artsy and some cool stuff. Second day so lots was gone. It was one of those hexagon pieces some shaped houses. Bigger inside than looks. Maybe I'll add a photo in a bit. Here it is. Needs some updatung but cute inside. Main floor, upstairs, downstairs, wrap around porch/deck and garage.

jeremysgirl and scrapmaven sending feel better wishes your way. lucyg You didn't make anything worse. Read and post however and whenever. We are just blessed when you post! Had an early hair appointment and picked up lunch on the way home. I do need a nap as I didn't get much sleep last night and the eyelids are drooping! Tonight will be chicken, roasted butternut squash and rice.

A dinner cruise sounds lovely lucyg. We have a steamboat here that goes up and down the river while you have dinner. They often have live music too. It's actually a really nice way to spend an evening.

peasapie.....I just saw where you asked me how to do "quick quotes." I hope I can explain it well . Keep in mind, it has been very sporadic lately. It's always worked for me for years, but recently, it'll stop working for a couple days, then it starts working again. Today is one of the days it's NOT working for me, but reading through the thread, it's working for others. ANYHOOO..... I rarely ever post from my phone---only my computer---so I don't know if it's possible on a phone. Maybe others that post from their phones can chime in. 1. On a COMPUTER (not phone), hover your mouse over the part of the post you want to quote (in other words, let's say it's a long paragraph, but you just want to quote a sentence of it. It keeps you from having to quote an entire, long post). 2. then click, using the left key of your mouse. 3. The section that you're quoting will be highlighted, then you see the words "quick quote" 4. The part of the post you quoted will automatically go into the "quick reply" box 5. Here's where it gets tricky If you "quick quote" multiple posts, they will all be jumbled together in the reply box. 6. You then separate each "quick quote" by looking for the end of each quote, where there will be the word quote]7. Hit enter, then each little quote is separated, so you can add whatever comment you want to make. Clear as mud?

lucyg, do not apologize for anything. It's not your job to take care of us or try to make anyone feel comfortable. It's our job to support you, listen and remind you that you are surrounded by people who care. Let us be there for you. I hate being scared more than anything else. I'm gonna get dark. I had a terrifying childhood w/so much violence. So, fear is not fun. It's horrible to be afraid, even if it's just cause of a movie. I don't watch any horror movies. Though, I love Silence of the Lambs, but that is because of the forensic psychology and Anthony Hopkins was just great in the role.

Hi I am really, sick so we had Chinese food for dinner. I have a uti that won’t go away. I liked the Chinese food we had very much but it threw my keto eating off by 4 days. I had to give my head a shake. I am really sick. I will hopefully be better on Sunday.

Delta Dawn.....Hope you feel better soon! You said you're very sick--twice---I hope you'll be okay. Are you on antibiotics? Please remember to also take some PRO-biotics, too. To avoid getting a super-infection. *IF* you're also in pain, I hope your doc has you on pyridium (or similar)---it's a med that can help the pain. scrapmaven....(( hugs )) I'm sure that dealing with that trauma has been very difficult. I've told you before, I really admire your attitude about your childhood and your current medical issues! lucyg...I know how much you've always loved this, so I GOTTA post it again.

That is a super cool house PLurker! I'd love to see inside photos. It is a cool place. Didn't take any inside photos, felt weird to do although it occurred to me. Of note were the floor tiles in bathroom and tiles in kitchen. All artsy tiles not like big box store ones for sure. Had a fireplace with old timber mantle from back when it wasn't the cool/trendy thing to do making it that much more cool. It was kept pretty simple in there, white walls/ceilings as they are kind of one and the same in a dome home. It was in need of some crack repair and probably due for another paint job. The guy there said they were ready to replace the roofing (must be complicated) and the quote was 40k. Yikes. Roofing is costly but this has its own complications I'm sure and the whole thing is "roof". Cool as hell nonetheless.
