We live in the path of this storm (as projected) and I’m worried about it. We are supposed to leave for vacation on Tuesday, as well. Right now, the plan is to put shutters up and head out. I can’t think of a reason to stay through the storm… but I’m worried. Is anyone else tracking this storm? I thought it was going to be a bad rain/wind storm but, now it’s projected to be a hurricane.

Oh no. My son has a second home in Naples. So far, he’s been lucky.

From James Spann's FB page, meteorologist **UPDATE: This is now Tropical Depression 14. The first NHC forecast track will be out within the hour** EYES ON THE GULF: Invest 92L is expected to become a tropical storm or hurricane within the next couple of days, with likely landfall on the Florida West Coast (the peninsula, not the panhandle) Wednesday. The system hasn't formed, and there is still no way of knowing the exact point of landfall, or the intensity. But, those along and south of I-4 (Tampa to Orlando to Daytona Beach) will need to keep a very close eye on this. This will NOT impact the Central Gulf Coast (Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach) other than dangerous rip currents. NHC will likely initiate "potential tropical cyclone" advisories later today.

Seems the situation is still pretty fluid. theeyewall.com/Hoping you all just get a rainstorm out of it and nothing too serious.

That's where I have family just east of Tampa, and good friends just north west of Orlando.

I just saw this and all I can think is enough already. This has been a horrible year. I hope it somehow doesn’t turn into a hurricane and hope it doesn’t do much damage. I had read T/W but who knows. I know people will be watching this and praying for anyone in its path.

Stay safe everyone! I have a friend whose home was flooded out by Helene. With this new one coming, and they are in the path again, they are like go ahead, come, we have nothing left for you to damage. I feel so sad for them.

Consider turning off the main water to your home. If you have outside cameras be sure they are working so you can monitor the situation.

Originally I saw some prediction before Helene that showed 3 storms one right after the other, Helene, one on the 4th, and one around the 10-11th. Thankfully that middle one did not happen, hopefully this next one veers off or weakens.
A storm doesn’t have to be a hurricane to cause widespread devastation. If you have storm shutters etc I’d engage them just in case.
I hope everyone can stay safe.

3 named storms in the Atlantic rn - Kirk, Leslie and Milton. Kirk is a fish storm but predicted to head towards Spain/France. Leslie is also a fish storm but doesn't appear to be a threat to land as of now. Milton is predicted to become a hurricane by overnight and a major hurricane by Tues before landfall along the west FL coast on Wed. Everyone in FL needs to be prepared. So far it looks like it will go across FL then out to sea, but you never know. There's also a cold front coming down that will affect the steering of it (which is why it's predicted to cross FL and not go norh after landfall), so what that front does directly impacts where Milton goes. If the front stalls out before hitting the gulf (they're not predicting this though), then more of the gulf coast and possibly eastern seaboard is at risk.
Hugs to the FL peas/pea families and friends. A hurricane double-tap is the last thing anyone needs.
Hang tight everyone. We still have about 7 weeks of hurricane season.

I am on the SE Coast of Florida. It looks like we are in the cone but on the the very southern edge. That most likely means is we could get at the minimum tropical force winds, maybe gusts to 40mph and some flooding, 4-6" of rain added to the already saturated ground. As it travels across the state it is predicted the land mass will not have a huge effect, just reducing it from a major hurricane, winds 110mph+ to a hurricane, winds 74-110mph.
Will probably not close the shutters unless there is a change. Been in South Florida all my life, been through many hurricanes and they are awful, terrifying and always take them seriously. With that in mind I find the NOAA Hurricane Center provides the most dependable information and will follow that opposed to the often hyped up crazy media.

I hope this turns out ok. We used to vacation annually in Sanibel or Captiva in June. On our last trip we were there during a tropical storm for part of it. While we found it interesting, we were surprised at just how much damage a tropical storm can do. It ate out an incredible amount of the beach - taking out all of the turtle nests with it. There were tornadoes popping up on the mainland, flooding, and extended power outages. Good luck to all of our Peas in that area.

We're on the East Coast and should get storm winds, but not the worst. We're away and all boarded up but it really p*$$es me off that we ordered a hurricane-rated replacement door in January and it's still not installed. I no longer have shutters for the front door because I had all my old shutter panels hauled away right before they were supposed to install the door. When it came, it wasn't made right so the door's still not in. Fingers crossed.

My DS's GF is leaving here tomorrow, landing back in Orlando just before midnight. She is pretty concerned about how strong the winds will be by then, and also whether her mom will be able to collect her.

My sister is in the direct line (last I heard).. she is a bit inland though, usually Zone 4 I think.. out of 5 zones, 5 being the safest.
She can't go anywhere because of her cancer stuff going on. She is currently hooked up to a vacuum thing that sucks out bile stuff from her incision. With luck it comes off today. But she should be okay. Her neighbors put up all her storm shutters. Her son is there. My mom just got out Sunday after being there six weeks. (A LONG time).. so we are all happy she is gone. She is a huge worrier over weather. She saw the shutters go up on the house across the street and had a little freak out. My sister is so happy she isn't there to worry about her.

Yeahhhhh so I slept in by accident and Milton which was a 2 and going past the Yucatan was a 4 and heading straight for us when I woke up
Now it’s a 5 and they are evacuating the coast. I’m inMerida, inland, but not very far. Maybe 30 miles?
My house is cement (they are all here) and my area doesn’t flood so physically I’ll be ok. Neighbors damn leaning coconut tree is a concern as is losing power and water for a very long time. Services are wonky and slow in MX at the best of times.
Have a stray dog in my house to ride it out with us. And a tiny kitten who showed up Friday. And my 2 dogs and every feral cat in the neighborhood will be here when the rain starts….I won’t be lonely anyway 😂

He's like 19 years old. lol... She stored her neighbors 9 foot skeleton in her garage. That's pretty funny to see. I'll post a pic.

Good grief, wtf is wrong with people? Our local news station has a post on FB about this hurricane, and the things that people say/believe is unbelievable. There are really people out there who believe the government is engineering hurricanes?!?!?! Where do they get this stuff??
