My dad I think was planning to snack at the funeral which is being held at a nice country club (great food) and he won’t need much for dinner. He will not eat the leftover Chinese food so I will get to eat it. I don’t mind because I still am treating this UTI and think food not diet food should be eaten when taking antibiotics. (I don’t really believe this but someone has to eat the leftovers.🙄). It’s already cooked and waiting to be reheated and it was excellent last night. I can diet tomorrow.

Happy Saturday!!! @rhymeswithpurple such a cute photo of you and your grandma!!! She looks fantastic for 88 lucyg enjoy your dinner cruise!! scrapmaven thanks for the update on the mama cat. If she gives birth in the bushes will the kittens be okay? Does it get cold there overnight? I haven’t done much today. I’ve been resting but I have meds to take in a few minutes so I guess I’ll get up!!! leannec I think my recovery is going well. I think wearing the brace has helped a bunch. It’s big and cumbersome but it offers a lot of support. I have my first post op appointment next week. It will be interesting to hear what the doctor says. Dinner tonight is steak and baked potato. Dh is home and is in charge of feeding us tonight!!!

cadoodlebug that is an impressive freezer stash. I have got to get better at that! jeremysgirl that card is just adorable! rymeswithpurple what a sweet photo My front porch is done. Just waiting on 5:00 to set the timer candles. Laundry is done, folded and put away. Dinner plans changed. DH is eating his sub leftover from yesterday with Wingstop fries. So I made some Just Bare nuggets and will also have some fries. Then spend the night on the sofa, playing on the Switch and watching Halloween movies. The required first viewing of Hocus Pocus is happening as I type. Ope, it's 5, gotta go!

I've missed the thread for the last few days. I'm sorry you haven't been feeling good leannec. It sounds like you could do with a day playing on your laptop, and watching Netflix. I laughed at your meme, it is accurate! I love a good weekend where I do nothing, especially if the weather is crappy (like it is here this weekend). cadoodlebug that meme is accurate too! A friend of mine just bought an expensive Asko washing machine to replace the old one she'd had for THIRTY YEARS! I bet she doesn't get 30 years out of this new one. rymeswithpurple that's such a lovely photo of you and your grandma. She looks like a sweetheart. I'm looking forward to seeing your photos sueg. I hope you have some of the glass blowing - I'd love to see that IRL one day. I love your haunted camper sign jeremysgirl, it's so cute! That was very thoughtful of you scrappintoee. ntsf I feel exhausted and stressed just reading about your very eventful drive!

Missed the last couple of days due to migraine. It’s finally gone and my sister as having an Ohio state tailgate. It was 77 but full sun so it was so hot. Even dh opted to not go to the game. I’m never going because it’s just too long for me. We ate there so we’ll probably just snack for dinner. jeremysgirl I love anything carved pumpkin. I belong to the conservatory and am carving pumpkins for their pumpkin show opening next week. I get free passes to go sometime. They used to just do a member’s free preview I hope your date is a success leannec

Went to a seven hour scrapbooking event today at a church about 20 minutes from here. All of the money raised from our entrance fee, which was $40, plus some raffle tickets, luminaries etc(there were people/vendors there that gave part of their money) went to the Relay for Life. Apparently this was started by a group of women who were high school friends that used to scrapbook together as they all had children, etc., and one of the four died from breast cancer. So they do this in her honor every October
One of the women had this T-shirt on with a last name, and then it said, neuroblastoma underneath it. I immediately knew who the little boy was that died. His uncle had volunteered with me for a couple events and that’s how we found out about his nephew Patrick and his fight against neuroblastoma. Unfortunately, Patrick passed away about seven years ago. So long story short I asked how she knew Patrick and her eyes filled with tears and she said “he was my nephew”. So we talked about Patrick for a good 15-20 minutes along with us talking about his uncle James that I know. I haven’t seen James in a few years. It truly is a small world.

AussieMeg Thanks! She is my favorite crossword and Jeopardy! fan and has been for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure if it's a result of my grandfather's passing or just something I never really picked up on until the past few years, but she's definitely got some snark to her commentary. I have to repeat myself from time to time (ex., she asked what my shirt meant), and that's tough, but apart from that, she's pretty healthy. My brother got her a pair of socks a few years ago that say "This mother has seen some shit," and the pic of her with them cracks me up.

I had a big day of eating on Saturday. I went back to my favourite cafe for brunch with a friend. When we first went to this cafe back in March, we loved it so much and said we were going to go every weekend for the rest of the year so we could try everything on the menu! This is only my third time there, and this time I had the loaded croissant: Baked croissant with an olive, caper & chorizo sugo. Filled with rocket, bacon, fried halloumi, hollandaise, cherry basil tomatoes & two poached eggs. Finished with sriracha cream & dukkah. It was amazing! Oh wait.... this is the "What's for Dinner" thread, not the "What's for Brunch" thread. For dinner we went out with friends to a Thai restaurant. I was a bit worried that I was still going to be too full from my 9:30am brunch to eat anything at our 7:00pm dinner, but luckily I started feeling peckish by dinnertime. We shared a mixed entree plate, and ordered several different mains to share. I didn't take any photos this time, because I'm sure I annoy the hell out of our friends when I take photos all the time!

My brother got her a pair of socks a few years ago that say "This mother has seen some shit," and the pic of her with them cracks me up. That's hilarious! I need to find some of those socks. It reminds me of the undies that my cousin bought for our rather straight-laced elderly aunty for Christmas one year. (Side note: The right wing Conservative Party in Australia is called the Liberal Party - what a misnomer! But that's important to understand before I tell the rest of the story.) The undies were sexy lacy undies with "Vote Liberal - My Arse!" written on the bum. I have never seen my aunty laugh so hard in my life. We're not sure her new man friend was as amused as she was, seeing that he was, in fact, a Liberal Party voter.

It's been a busier than usual day for me, starting with speaking at an event this morning, returns to Ikea and a few other errands. We are having dinner with friends and my last errand was to pick up flowers & dessert. I don't think she knows we know it's her birthday today. Just before that last errand I had my flu & Covid vaccines and am going to try squeeze in a 20 minute nap before heading out. Glad your were able to get the car checked enroute, ntsf.

forgot to say....that sweet camper for jeremysgirl was also sort of a *nod* to Esther , since she had a Halloween birthday. teddyw ....so sorry you've had a migraine--those damn things plague way too many people. I would NOT be able to handle a headache that painful. scrapmaven....That sweet Mommy kitty and her future babies is so sad. So glad you're helping her as much as you can. It's a shame that all the rescues are already overwhelmed.

Dh and I got Covid and Flu shots yesterday evening. Today we picked uo MIL to take her to the cemetery as she hasnt been in about 2 months. We offered to take her to lunch and ended up at Shake Shack. Then she wanted to go thru the drive thru and Krispy Kreme and go to Kroger because she had coupons expiring- this woman has a ton of money, but the amount of upset that she was that she might not get her free jar of Miracle Whip was really something. But we took her, and her energy petered out at Kroger. We returned her home and then did our shopping, which included something for her as well, so back to drop it off.
Dh went to the driving range when we got home and then, when he got home, he started to get achy from the vaccinations. I just have a sore arm and am very tired. I made popcorn for dinner since neither of us felt like a full meal.

Tearisci , I just got back to the thread. Thank you your great suggestion. As it turns out, that was my strategy and it worked well. That was a tough one. scrappintoee and jeremysgirl , that's a super cute Halloween camper. scrappintoee is beyond genereous. I have the stuffed adorabully to prove it. rymeswithpurple , your grandma looks like a true sweetie. To help her memory, it's a good idea to exercise her brain. Jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles and stuff like that will keep her brain active and that's important when trying to slow down the progression of dementia. She should watch Jeopardy every night, too. Keep her on her toes. Nothing too challenging, because you want her to feel accomplished and proud of herself, but she needs to use that thinker. My fil had dementia. I learned from psychologists and neurologists. leannec, I hope that he took you to a nice dinner and that you're both enjoying the date.

I watch videos when I get stuck and that seemed to be the way to go. I'm stuck now and had to put down my controller so I didn't throw it to the TV lol!

Halloween is a big deal scrappintoee. It was when I was a child then it kind of petered out as me and my cousins got older. When Esther arrived, I was only too glad to revive it. Having all these Halloween decorations around me makes me feel close to her in a way. October can be a real up and down month for me. I'm so glad all of you remember her. ❤️🎃
