Hi everyone! Well, my date last night went really great! He's super nice and we have a lot in common! Like neither of us are campers! We went to my neighbourhood pub and spent a long time there eating and talking about anything and everything ... it's like we have known each other forever ... He's working in my neighbourhood today so I might see him at some point through the day Anyway, we'll see how it goes! In honour of scrapmaven's upcoming backyard birthing event I posted this on Facebook today! Needless to say my mood is improved today. How does everyone else feel? How is your dh **GypsyGirl**? I hope sueg and Linda are having wonderful vacations! Dinner will probably be rechauffe pizza ... What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Glad your date went well, leannec! All of the energy I had yesterday has gotten up and left the building. I didn't sleep well and I'm not feeling great today. I did do a load of laundry and I have dinner in the crockpot for after the game. We're having beef tips over noodles. It's a very fall dish that my DS loved growing up. It's my sister's birthday so we're all meeting at our local Tex-Mex joint for lunch today. I think there will be about 25 of us altogether. We're a big family when we all get together! I'm hoping I'll feel better as the day goes on. Hope you all have a great day!

It has been a wonderful, sunny day here today. Unfortunately, it is king tide season, so even without rain Piazzo San Marco was covered in water by lunchtime!
Today we visited the Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) before lunch and the Museo Correr complex which includes 5 or 6 museums.
We went past a really busy restaurant last night when looking for somewhere to eat, but couldn’t get in, so we have reserved for tonight. Their menu looks a bit different from most - just like last night’s was - so we’re looking forward to it. DH said earlier this afternoon that he doesn’t think he’s eaten enough pasta since we’ve been here, so I know what he’ll be ordering!

leannec , great meme, today. LOL. I'm very happy to hear that your date went well. I hope you have a great 2nd date, too. Tearisci , Happy Birthday to your sister. I hope that you feel better as the day goes on. Insomnia sucks.
sueg, enjoy every second of your vacation, especially the pasta. Apart from waiting to see if my stray cat gives birth in my backyard there isn't much going on today. It's a football afternoon. I'll be doing some cleaning. Bathroom mirrors anyone? Also, I ordered some stuff to help me organize and decorate my office. I'm going to try and get dh to hang some paintings in there this am. Dinner is up in the air. I'm thinking panko chicken from the air fryer, due to the heat. I have all of the ingredients for chicken marsala, but I don't want to heat up the house. Enjoy a relaxing, fun day, my lovelies.

Morning everyone. I just have 2 loads of laundry left to do today. 2 are done. Going to relax and watch football. Hoping to watch the Bills game at 10am and Packers game at 1:25pm (that one will definitely be on local channels as they are here in LA to play the Rams). I have been looking forward to relaxing today. I moved grocery shopping to Friday and I prefer it. I would spend so much of my weekend shopping and food prepping. Now doing that Friday opens my weekend up more. With it being 101° today because Summer Satan hasn't taken his freaking vacation yet (!!!) I will be doing braised chicken, Southern braised green beans and red potatoes, and chilled cranberry sauce. I also have left over mixed green lettuce I will finish off with topping like kidney beans and broccoli to get my protein. Enjoy your day. Glad you had a fun date leannec !!

Sounds like a great date leannec ! We walked this morning and now we're hunkered down inside because of the heat. I think I'll order a pizza for dinner, it's just too blazing hot to cook. I'll do some stuff around the house then work on my crop prep. I'll have some football games on in the background.

Well woohoo for a good date leannec. I'm so glad that has improved your mood a little. I just finished cooking 6 cups of rice. I'm going to stick it in the fridge for Jeremy to make chicken fried rice for him, the kids, and Kylon. I'll have a flatbread. I made one yesterday with sauted red peppers and kale, vegan whipped feta and crunchy garlic lentils. So that's what I'll have for dinner. We got pumpkins for Kylon and the kids to paint. We thought Kylon would find that more fun than carving. I also made cookies to decorate. I'll be getting in the shower as it's almost 12:30 and they are coming at 2 today. I'm dying to know about the kitties so keep us updated scrapmaven. Tearisci I hope you don't stay out too long at lunch and can rest this afternoon.

Happy Sunday! DH is doing very well, thanks for asking. They removed his trach on Friday morning and that has gone well. He is going to be moved to a rehab facility any day now, just waiting on the insurance approval (which we are not worried about). It's the same facility he spent a week in when he had Covid in 2021 and it's a really good one. It is a further drive as it is out in Katy, but I don't go visit daily when he is in rehab and it is very near a nice quilt shop. Will take me about the same time to drive it since I can get on the toll lane vs all the local streets and red lights. Today we begin Week #15 and they expect rehab to take 2 weeks minimum. With any luck he'll be home by the end of the month! Fingers crossed. I am in very slow gear this morning and didn't get up until after 9:30. This is the first day since Monday I have not had a sinus headache which is a huge improvement. Going to get dressed and then go spend the afternoon with DH. Normally DD splits the day with me but she left for Berlin yesterday (business) and won't be home until Friday evening. Absolutely no clue once again on what dinner will be. Maybe I'll stop on the way home and grab something. Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing Sunday.

We just had a late lunch (again!) so Im not going to make the chicken pot pie I had planned- I will push that to tomorrow, that way ds can take home leftovers to have before softball on Tuesday.
Last night we had popcorn for dinner. When we get hungry later, we will figure something out.

pantsonfire. Lol. Summer Satan. There’s another hurricane headed from the golf into the state of Florida. My cousins house in Clearwater has probably been condemned. They’re waiting to hear about that this week. That state does not need another hurricane.

Since I missed grandboy #3’s birthday last week because I was away, I took him on an adventure today. We visited the Animal Farm which is like a petting zoo, went to the playground, had lunch at McDinalds and went shopping for a new toy that he picked out. I just dropped him off at home and he had fallen asleep in the car.
DH is off riding his ATV so Walker and I are relaxing on the deck. It’s not very relaxing for the dog though as the bees are in abundance and he tries to catch them. Yes, not an ideal activity but he hasn’t learned after being stung 7 times last summer. When they get really bad, we keep him in the house.
Not sure about supper yet.

Nice to hear your date went well, leannec. Great to hear your DH is likely off to rehab in a day or two, **GypsyGirl**. PLurker, I love geodesic dome houses, but don't think I could every live in one. There are 2 side-by-side that we can see from a local highway and I would love to see inside both to see if/how differently they are finished and decorated. Weather here is reminding me why fall is a favorite time of year. Cool evenings and mornings with lovely mid70s/20s during the day just can't be beat IMHO. We had a great evening with out local BFFs last night. They bought an apartment in Scotland last year and have been going for months at a time, so we had lots of catching up to do. They also introduced us to Black Butter they picked up on Jersey, which tastes like the filling of a mince tart. I didn't make plans for today in case I had a reaction to yesterday's vaccines, but thankfully only have a sore arm. I'll putter around crafting, reading and putting on paper a couple house project plans. DH and I are great at getting things done if they are on paper, otherwise they just get talked about a lot. Dinner is a bit of a mash up. Baking potatoes need to be baked and I'm excited to roast the first home grown butternut squash of the season at the same time. They will be put out with a ground turkey and Trader Joe's Holiday Hash ( naby64 mentioned last week) mix and people can put together their own plates whenever they want to eat.

Happy Sunday!! I didn't sleep great last night. I have gotten quite a bit of stuff accomplished. Doing laundry with my grabber stick takes more time than usual but, at least I can do it without asking for help!!! I am still on the strict no bending, no twisting, no lifting. I have a 5 pound max for lifting. Dinner is meatball from the freezer and some side yet to be determined. leannec glad it went well! taylortroop sound like the best kind of outing for you and your grandson!!

I have meal prepped for some lunches this week. I haven't thought about dinner. Except to tell DH we have hot dogs now. So I am thinking he will have hot dogs. I'm still up in the air on what I want. I have some leftover smashed potatoes. Shouldn't I be able to make a soup out of that? And then maybe a grilled cheese and mushroom sandwich.

it is way too hot!! I am going in a bit to teach an intro class to older girl scouts on backpacking.. so the pack is packed, and ready to go.
I have no desire to make dinner so it may be just a salad and snacks. there are leftovers for dd. one of my best friends is coming into town this week (lives in dc).. so I am looking forward to catching up with her. and getting all the political dirt (she does major fundraising in politics).
dh is coming home tuesday. he is spending the afternoon with friends on top of their small building on main street in idaho watching "the trailing of the sheep".. about 1500-2000 sheep move down main street -part of festival but actually moving them from the mountains down to the plains. car goes into the shop tomorrow
have a great week!!

leannec glad you had a fun date! **GypsyGirl** happy to hear your DH will be moved soon. It's been a quiet day here. I've been doing laundry and cleaning. Took a long walk. Washed my Jeep. DH won't let me take it thru the car wash when the soft top is on. We will be heading to my parents in SC on Thursday. We have debated going because the route we take is closed due to the hurricane. My youngest brother will be there and I haven't seen him in almost 4 years. If it wasn't for that we probably wouldn't go. All the kids and grandkids plus FIL are coming over for dinner. We will celebrate one of the grandsons birthday. Dinner will be chili and corn casserole. Of course we have cake for dessert for the birthday boy.

leannec sounds like a very good night! Tearisci hope you get your energy back. We haven't had beef tips in a very long time. Soooo good! sueg I am loving reading about your trip! scrapmaven you just seem so calm about new kitten hood. I love my AF for getting the best crisp without heating up the whole kitchen. pantsonfire Summer Satan is leaving us for a bit beginning tomorrow. Supposedly, we get a bit cooler tomorrow. cadoodlebug I am sure DH would love a pizza. Maybe I'll give him a push for that Wednesday. jeremysgirl that flatbread sounds divine! I have forgotten flatbread the last 2 times at the store. karenlou I thought all my laundry was done for the weekend. After prepping food today and cleaning yesterday, I now have enough for another load. **GypsyGirl** so glad to hear your DH's progress! The Birdhouse Lady I'm glad you are continuing to heal and do small things.

pantsonfire....LOL over "Summer Satan" **GypsyGirl**.....Yipppee on Mr. Gypsy being moved to rehab soon! leannec....So glad you had such a good time! I am SO thankful to NOT have a headache in 2 1/2 days!!! . They were starting to be a daily thing, and they are just so damn painful. I was FURIOUS for a brief time earlier, because I almost tripped in the garage, and the feeling of possibly falling and breaking a bone (again!) is scary. I reallllllly wanna go to Trader Joe's today, just can't decide if I want that long drive...especially since Satan's extra-long summer doesn't seem to be going away. My big concern is if the car had a problem and/or I was in an accident, I'd be further from home than usual. Trader Joe's Holiday Hash has been mentioned here in previous years, and it sounds so yummy! Not to mention all the other fun Halloween/ Fall items. Although it can still be hot during the day, DH and I have been LOVING how cool it is after dark. I LOVE sitting outside to read, but haven't been able to for months. DH laughed when I told him I miss being outside with my book so much, I'll go out there after dark with my booklight.

The kids are coming for dinner! Omg I am so excited (I did invite them!) we are having rib eye steaks, Caesar salad, corn, tomatoes, and cucumber. We live close to the kids but we only see them once a week so we don’t bother each other.
My son has changed. Most of you know my son is Japanese and Canadian. He is much more Japanese now. He is taking care of us (as is DDIL) like a Japanese son would care for his parents. He has totally changed. It’s all sorts of wonderful but it’s interesting to watch. It’s called Oya Kouko. This is a thousands of year old tradition brought from China to Japan. I knew I loved my son and his wife before. I just love them so much more now.

Sunday already? Ugh. Dinner today was salmon, rice, and DH switched it up and let the corn cool and added some tomatoes and homemade dressing, and we also shared a bagged salad from Aldi he added tomatoes and a cucumber to. Now I am trying to figure out what shoes may go well with some new pants I bought ( these ones, specifically). I usually wear Converse and don't do heels, but thought a red pair would be fun (especially for our trip next month - I actually bought both colors). Any ideas?

leannec I'm glad your date went well. **GypsyGirl** that's really exciting to hear that your husband could be home by the end of the month. You must both be feeling so good about that. scrappintoee I love Mr Bones! Does he glow in the dark? tmarschall you will be happy to know that I cooked something from my freezer.... I mentioned on a previous thread that MIL and I went halves in a whole lamb, and my half is in my outside freezer. I took out the lamb chops and marinated them in tandoori paste and Greek yoghurt, then DSO cooked them on the BBQ. I made parmesan potatoes as well. I'm thinking that I might take the crumbed lamb cutlets to my MIL's house, and get her to cook them up for all of us. There are way too many for the three of us, and MIL has already cooked her lamb cutlets for us. Lamb cutlets are soo flipping expensive.... they cost $4.50 EACH (!!!) at the butcher. Ridiculous!

Yay leannec I’m so happy it went well. I love the Summer Satan name too Your tree behind Mr Bones is so pretty scrappintoeeI had a brief headache today-a cold front is coming through. Thankfully no migraine. Worked in my yard, did laundry, other household chores and realized at 8pm I needed to carve 2-4 pumpkins for the pumpkin events at the Conservatory. I bought 4 only did 2. I decided to scrape the skin partly off one. Hadn’t done it before so I didn’t know it’s definitely an outside job. I then had to mop the floor too. No cooking. Grazed the fridge.
