ds,dh and I tested positive for Covid on Saturday morning for the Ds started not feeling well last Saturday then dh and I mid week. I called healthlink and they would not give paxlovid, did an assessment and said to go to urgent care. The gal that assessed dh and I did not wear a mask til I mentioned two positive tests. The doctor assessed us and gave me a pill for my sore throat. He also did a strep test after I asked for one. Would not give Paxlovid as we were fully vaccinated up to last year. Waiting for the new vaccine to come out. There is so much conflicting advice out there. What are the current recommendations for after contracting Covid? We have not been masking for a while. When will we test negative? When can we go out in public? How long can we transmit it? We will go back to masking. thank you

DH and I and a bunch of his coworkers contracted Covid after a business conference in New Orleans in early August. The info I’ve seen from a Washington Post medical writer is to wait 2-3 months before getting the new vaccine, because we have some immunity. I would check the guidelines from the Canadian version of the CDC about your other questions. DH tested negative 4 days after being sick for 3. It took me a bit longer.

The individual recommendations/requirements from businesses/schools are all over the place. Some places are saying that there are no restrictions anymore. Kids at school are allowed to come to school even if they have tested positive for Covid. Although I guess if they have a fever they would get sent home for 24 hours if that is the school policy? Here's what the CDC is saying: www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/prevention/precautions-when-sick.html

I had it for the first time this summer. I tested positive for 10 days (no paxlovid). I am fully vaccinated and would have gotten the new one with my flu shot last week but am waiting for November to be 2.5-3 months post infection. I plan to get the booster 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. For what it's worth, I got it from having outside coffee with a friend. I felt pretty crummy for 5 days and then super fatigued. I stayed home for the whole time I was testing positive. My mom had it the same time, got paxlovid and tested negative on day 5.

I was told 5 days after positive test AND resolving symptoms, fever free you can go out but mask for 5 more days. Negative test, no need to mask. I tested negative on day 9.

I’m pretty sure that I have come down with it today. I just got the new free tests, so I thought I would take a test this evening. I have no where to be this week, so I am just going to stay home and rest. Right now, I feel like I do after getting the vaccine. I have a fever and have lost my sense of smell.

I would check the guidelines from the Canadian version of the CDC about your other questions. I have seen so many different guidelines about how long to wait until getting a vaccination after having COVID. I got COVID in April, and I had planned to get my next vaccination in mid-August, two weeks before heading to Thailand. My friend who is a GP told me in no uncertain terms, that I should not get the vaccine, and I needed to wait six months. She herself had COVID in January, and was going overseas in May, and didn't get a COVID booster before going because it was only five months since having COVID. When I googled it, I saw advice to wait anywhere from two weeks to six months.

Sounds like the ‘vid. Hope you’re feeling better soon. Thanks! I tested a little bit ago and it was positive. This is my first time with it. Ugh. Hydrate like crazy and treat symptoms. Contact your doctor, they may want you to take Paxlovid.

I would still follow isolation for 5 days and then 5 days with a mask after that. After 2 negative tests on 2 separate days, no more mask.

I started feeling achy Monday, Sept 23, went to bed early. Tues morning I felt like I got hit by a truck. Took a Covid test that I thought was negative but looking back I think it was defective. Wednesday I still felt pretty bad, another test was immediately positive. I work from home, and my office is set up in the basement, so I stayed confined to the basement for 5 days, then wore a mask for another 5 days (but mostly stayed in the basement still). Day 10 I was packing things in the basement and refinishing furniture outside for my DD's move into her first apartment - 10,428 steps. Day 11 was my first day with no mask and the day we helped my DD move - 14,590 steps. Day 12 I helped my DD a bit more and then went to Witches Night out event - 14,499 steps. I don't recommend jumping in full force like that!
