Don’t really want to get into nitty gritty, but actually seeking who actually has first level family/friends (ie you actually know and speak to them not friends of a friends cousin etc) of active military? National guard? FEMA? Sheriff? Lineman for an electric company?
Cajun Navy? Red Cross? World Central Kitchen? Samaritan’s Purse?
Waffle House?

First hand knowledge of what?
My cousin who used to live with us is in the CA National Guard as is her husband. Her dad is in the WI NG.
My dad was in the air force but retired many years ago after serving 20 yrs.

DH was active duty Air Force for almost 33 years and we were married for all but the first month of it. 17 moves in 32+ years!
Needless to say, I know A LOT of active duty military personnel.

Not sure if you are looking for actual information, which I probably could not help you with, or just a poll or knowledge of how many people actually know people. I don’t really fit your categories but feel I do have some “first hand knowledge” for a few of those you listed.
I have a cousin who works operations for an electric company, so while not an actual lineman, someone who deals with that area of the company as his job. My best friend’s son is active military, while “i” don’t speak or message with him, I do talk to him when I see him and have known him since he was a small child. I have a family member who is part of the State Police, so while not a sheriff’s employee, has first hand knowledge of.

We have a family friend who works for the power company. And one who is a police chief, but not a sheriff.

Are you looking for specific information about the areas hit by the hurricane? I'm assuming so since you mentioned FEMA, the Cajun Navy, World Central Kitchen.... Also, why did you include Waffle House? We don't have them where I live though, so maybe they're known for helping out in natural disasters...? Anyway, dh has two family members who are police officers but neither has any connections to North Carolina or other hard-hit areas. |

I assume you're wanting to see if all the Facebook rumors that FEMA is confiscating supplies and the government is hampering Helene disaster relief efforts are true, or looking for first hand info to refute those claims.
I have seen those things "a friend whose cousin lives there is reporting that" etc .
I don't have any first hand knowledge, unfortunately. The conspiracy theorists are out in full force.

When *Republican* pols in the affected areas are repeatedly saying that help is on the ground, that the effort is well-organized, and that Biden has been forthcoming about giving them whatever they need - and when they're begging people to stop spreading conspiracy theories to the contrary - I have to shake my head at people who think they need further confirmation. |
