My family is having a progressive brunch on Sunday for our October birthdays. I signed up for appetizers/charcuterie as the first stop. I think I'll have a selection of meat and cheeses but any other suggestions? We'll be stopping also for soup/salad, mains and dessert so we don't want too much to eat at any one given place.
Anything creative would be super fun too!

What is a "progressive brunch"? Are you moving from one home to another to another to eat?
That sounds kind of tiring... I'm staying put wherever the mimosa station is.

Yep we go to about 4 houses and each person hosts a different course. We've done it for a few years but we usually do dinner and switched up to brunch so more of the families with kids could join. Right now, I'm thinking of sausage balls with Rotel, meats and cheeses and some fruit. I'd ideally like one more thing to serve.

One of our favorite appetizers is Manchego stuffed dates wrapped in bacon and broiled. What about something like mini quiches or small spanakopitas or samosas? You can usually buy those frozen and just heat before serving.

Honestly? A relish tray with pickles, olives and carrot sticks. I think if I was going to 4 places, that would be enough for an appetizer along with what you mentioned already.

What about some type of mini croissants or Naan bread dippers? I’d want some type of bread or crackers or something to go with the meat and cheeses. Another thought would be some pressure cooker egg bites like Starbucks sells, I think those would go nicely with the charcuterie options.

It ends up being a lot of food but I want to have options.

I don't have anything to add to your menu but I think it sounds like a lot of fun!

A light option I like is caprese skewers - wooden skewers with cherry tomatoes, small fresh mozzarella balls, fresh basil, and a splash of balsamic vinegar on top. I also like doing small glasses with hummus or dip in the bottom and then longish carrot, celery, cucumber, and jicama sticks standing up in the glass to dip in it. Both make a nice presentation and can be made ahead.

Its very easy to pull the goodness off of the toothpick in one bite.

I think I'll be heading to the fancy store to look for the little cheese balls. I don't recall seeing them where I normally shop. They do have some fresh mozzarella and I could cube it, worst case scenario.

Most grocery stores carry mozzarella pearls which is the perfect size for these appetizers (right next to all the other fresh mozzarella). I'll add I do something similar, but I add a cooked cheese tortellini and do a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze.

Then the basil leaf, again if its a really big leave I will tear it into smaller bits, about the size of the diameter of the mozzarella ball. I find the wee mozzarella balls, called either Ciliegine, or Bocconcini at my everyday grocery store where they have the nicer cheese.

I've also done ones with a folded up piece of salami between the tomato and cheese. And yes, I drizzle with Balsamic vinegar and olive oil and a bit of nice salt and cracked pepper.

I like any of the light & fresh options. Progressive meals can be both tiring & filling, so starting off with a lighter option that includes fruit or veg would be appealing to me.

It sounds more like lunch than brunch based on what you have described. I- I'd probably do a veggie or fruit tray or some summer sausage, cheese, and crackers or a dip of some sort with tortilla chips or crackers.
Id be full before the main course though!

I saw this last night and thought of you. Monte Cristo Pinwheels - Puff Pastry styleThe above recipe uses puff pastry, which I think would be ideal. Monte Cristo Pinwheels - Crescent Roll recipeI think the puff pastry option sounds better, but I like how the crescent roll version puts the jam inside the roll (my favorite part!). I think I would read both recipes and make it according to your needs and tastes. If you used very little meat, it wouldn't be a heavy big item, and maybe could even use the prosciutto?
