Today I'm going to enjoy my much cleaner office. I have some more stuff to put away, but it's basically done. Then I'm going to start my Hogwarts Castle Lego. First, I have a video appt and then I can get on w/my day.
What are you up to today?
How is everyone doing?
Linda, if you can check in w/us please let us know how you're doing out there? I'm thinking of you and your family.
leannec, how do you feel today? Your post really touched me last night.
tmarschall, how are you doing? I thought more about your situation and the good thing is that you have Nick, who is wonderful and supports you.
naby64, how are you today? Have you heard from your loved ones? What can we do to support you today?
I want everyone here to feel cared about, because you are important and worthy of empathy.
Dinner will be chicken marsala. What's on your menu?
May today bring healing to those who need it, comfort for those who are scared and peace to the tribe.
What's on your menu?
Make the most of your day, tribe.

It is day 2 (week 2) of dh getting trained to do dd's SCiG infusions. He took off 5 Wednesdays in a row to train.
Since it is infusion day it is fix what you want. Dd has her comfort foods available - gnocchi, waffles, pancakes, and a russet for a baked potato.
I have been craving lasagna soup so I think I will make that. Just need to pick up noodles.
Other than that it is Wednesday.
Have a good day peas.

First of all scrapmaven I read your post from last night this morning over coffee. I did not want to bump that post especially given that I slept in until 7 am. But I'm concerned about you too. I'm sending you all my love and prayers. I know, I know, you have a good attitude and never want to worry anyone, but you are our friend and we are just as concerned about you and your health as you are about all of us. Big hugs. Fingers crossed for some good news. Linda is on her vacation to England/Scotland if I'm not mistaken. So I don't know about the state of her home as far as this new hurricane goes, but I'm pretty sure her and her people are out of harms way. I'm hoping naby64 and tmarschall are having a much better day today. I am rewriting my cover letter or I should say, putting together a custom cover letter for this new job. I'm trying to keep my hopes in check and being all casual and cool about it. But honestly, it's the best job to come along in over a year now. It's not just a stopgap, but something that would be in my direct career path. And those opportunities don't come around often. So I want to put my best foot forward. I'll be having black bean and butternut squash tacos for dinner tonight. Jeremy will have boring tacos with meat and cheese. Hahaha... My tacos are way more exciting. I've got the black beans cooking in my little crockpot right now so they will be ready at dinner time. I am just getting myself together. I'm going to walk with my neighbor shortly and then I have two afternoon meetings from 1-3. Boo!! I ordered myself a surprise quilt kit. Fat Quarter Shop called it their "Spooky Box." It arrived yesterday and honestly, it made me so happy. I love surprises like that. This weekend I will begin the cutting for that quilt. I think I can do it. It's the perfect activity for October.

jeremysgirl, thank you for your true support and compassion. Honestly, I'm so used to bad news from this team that I stew for a few hours and then get on w/things. I hate going there, because there's nothing new that they can offer and it's always the same doom and gloom. Though they are experts and very kind. I know that w/o proper nutrition I can't sustain this body forever, but I'm fortunate enough to be doing so right now. You deserve to have a great job w/a great team, because you're so efficient and your work is excellent. I'm crossing everything I can for you.

I had a lovely day with my friend and DH and her DH finished the 18 holes but it was blazing hot. One guy only made it 7 holes and another guy only 14. We stayed up chatting way past my bedtime and I got up at 6:45 so I'll be dragging at the BBQ this afternoon. Dinner will be whatever they serve at the BBQ. scrapmaven big hugs. jeremysgirl fingers crossed! I got word yesterday that my friends in Sarasota have evacuated to the east coast of Florida. I fear for the devastation on Florida's gulf coast. They said on the news that so much stuff that hasn't been picked up from Helene will be like projectiles with the massive winds. For those who don't follow the NFL George Johnson is a Cowboy fan and he crossed off the state of Mississippi instead of the state of Louisiana even though he said the state of New Orleans.

Happy Wednesday! Hugs to all of those who need them. It sounds like our tribe is in a bit of a rough patch right now and needs support and encouragement. jeremysgirl Good luck with the new possible job. You deserve all the good things to happen. Last night did not turn out the way I thought it would. I got both my covid and flu shots yesterday and I wasn't feeling up to going to dinner for my mom so I stayed in and ordered Indian. I think I was just mostly exhausted from all of the social interaction that has been every day, all weekend and week so far. I'm an introvert and get exhausted from crowds even if it is my family. Tonight, I'm making chicken something or other because I took it out of the freezer and will come up with something. I play to stay in tonight and binge the new season of Love is Blind. It takes place in my old stomping grounds of DC so it will be fun to see if I recognize anywhere. Hope you all have a great day!

scrapmaven and jeremysgirl , you know, I am about the same. DH didn't really want to take much responsibility on his actions Monday night. I said we need to talk about it and all he would/could say is "I'm sorry". Nothing else accounted for. The people on FB with all their completely stupid lies, misinformation and conspiracy theories are just beyond me. I am doom scrolling and keeping up to date with all of the hurricane movements and updates. I am also near burnout with my body and mind. I had to talk my DD out of a spiral last night with the fridge that came with the house she just purchased. A nice and seemingly new LG. The freezer is out. The fridge part didn't seem to be cooling. There was lots of talk, deep breathing and taking some stuff over to her brother's. Her anxiety is out of control and these things are small to most everyone else but they just seem like monsters to her. I just can't take much more. Bit told me to take a social media break and come up for the weekend. I could just veg all weekend with them. I have decided to listen to a Taylor Swift mix list on Spotify until my tablet is charged up and then turning on Armageddon or Harry Potter movies to get me through the day. Which I think is a bit funny on the HP stuff. Shouldn't there be something written on a tablet somewhere about watching movies about magic in a church office? But I am ready to burn it all down so there's that. I am taking my Xanax today to not have another breakdown in public. I do thank you all for being here. And caring. Tonight is choir night so no dinner cooking for me this night. I did have the crunchy beans and tofu ricotta again last night. I swear, I think I could almost eat that every day! pantsonfire , I got stuff to make lasagna soup ages ago and never made it. I think once we get to our cooler temps next week, I am going to have to break down and make it. jeremysgirl I have my fingers crossed, good thoughts going and prayers being said for this new job to come to fruition! And those tacos sound excellent! I have another vegan cookbook coming today from Amazon. It was one of the prime day deals. I feel like with numbers not lying, I need to check out some other recipes. Some not so heavy on Indian/Asian accents. They are wonderful but cause some raised eyebrows when reheated. Ya know, boring tastebuds and all.

On another good note: I got my blood work tests back and my A1C is almost normal as well as my cholesterol. I've been on meds for both but glad to see it trending in the right way.
I made an appointment with the bariatric doctor for the end of the month for a consultation. I've made the decision to pursue this line of losing weight so we'll see what he has to say and if I'm a candidate.

naby64 you do whatever you need to do to get through your day. A getaway somewhere just for yourself sounds like a great idea, btw. Doing something that you love to do w/o all of the extraneous noise might be very healing. Whatever you choose, it's all about you right now. Take good, loving care of yourself.

I'm feeling a lot better today ... thank you all for the thoughtful comments yesterday on my issue with my dd's ... they really are wonderful and this is just a small blip! I need to do laundry and garbage today ... that's it! Yay! The new guy is in Vegas right now but has kept in contact ... he's super sweet! Dinner is undecided ... I bought a huge container of potato salad at Costco so it will probably be that with something else ... Thinking of you and sending you positive thoughts today naby64!

Thanks scrapmaven - not sure why I deleted. Just hard to vent sometimes. I know so many people here are facing much bigger struggles. I just don't always deal well with things out of my control. jeremysgirl - best of luck to you - you've got this! Take care all - going to have a lazy day and just try and let stuff go!

I think I was just mostly exhausted from all of the social interaction that has been every day, all weekend and week so far. I'm an introvert and get exhausted from crowds even if it is my family. It's weird because I always thought of myself as an extrovert. Then Covid happened. And I was comfortable at home for most of it. Maybe even too comfortable. And now I'm at the point where I'm like, I made plans with my sister for Friday night and plans with my MIL (Jeremy's cousin is coming to town) on Saturday night and I may not recover. Hahaha... I have decided to listen to a Taylor Swift mix list on Spotify until my tablet is charged up and then turning on Armageddon or Harry Potter movies to get me through the day. Music is a great healer. And even no TV me, has Friends to be my comfort show/noise. Let me know how it is. Last night I made a recipe from Isa Chandra Moskowitz's Isa Does It. I have several of her cookbooks and I can't recommend them enough. On another good note: I got my blood work tests back and my A1C is almost normal as well as my cholesterol. I've been on meds for both but glad to see it trending in the right way. Yay! So glad to hear it! I know so many people here are facing much bigger struggles. I just don't always deal well with things out of my control. I missed whatever is going on. But, if you are struggling with something your feelings are valid. Your struggle is real. And it doesn't matter at all if someone else seems to be dealing with something bigger. Big hugs.

Big hugs to everyone who needs them - there seems to be so many not so good things happening in our little nest lately. jeremysgirl - good vibes to you on the job application. naby64 - I ordered the vegan cookbook you mentioned a week or so ago yesterday. I’ve been holding off so it didn’t arrive while we are away. My last blood numbers weren’t great and with hearing so many people saying that a chan he d to more plant based eating has helped them, I’m going to try it, at least for a few months to see if it helps me. We are into the relax phase of our vacation. This morning we went for a long walk along the river that flows through Merano - 2km along one side, across a bridge and 2km back to the town centre, where we had lunch. I also booked so spa treatments - I am just back from a lovely facial and tomorrow I will have a massage. We will also go out to walk as much as possible, depending on the weather. Dinner will be whatever looks good on the menu. I had a Quick Look at breakfast, but don’t remember everything they had listed.

Holy moley, even the quiet thoughts are heard!! I have done a couple of The Family Freezer free video classes. She is a mass meal preparer and sticks them in the freezer for later. Like I said, I have done a couple or 2. The cool thing is after you watch the video, she sends the recipes, gro list and labels for the freezer bags with all the info. Name, cooking time and temps. Most are crock pot or IP friendly. I have full sheet labels and print them off. Well today, I have an email notice for a vegan prep video. Not sure I'll like them all but I will watch and give it a shot. When I clicked on the link it says 1pm on October 16. However, there are usually multiple times available. Once it is on her site, there are other days also available. jeremysgirl and suegHere is the link: thefamilyfreezer.lpages.co/live-vegan/?utm_source=ac&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ff-10-09-24-class-invite-1

I hate that so many on our dinner thread are struggling. Please know that ALL of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Personally, I feel that I can come here and vent when I need to and not be judged. I hope all of you feel the same. I started off my day by completing my tax return. About time... Then I treated myself to a pedi. I am back home and ready to take a walk. It's another beautiful day. I might even shed my jacket to walk. Tonight we are going to a flag football game for the YDGS. At some point I must start packing. Dinner will be chicken enchilada soup. I am putting lasagna soup on my list for next week thanks to pantsonfire.

Let me sit in the corner with the others who are having not so good stuff happen… Yesterday my bank account was compromised. After several hours on the phone with the bank and PayPal, it was discovered that I had a 10 yr old PayPal acct linked to my bank acct. I haven’t used it and it sat dormant. Someone used the old email address attached to it, changed the password and created a business acct with PayPal using my bank acct. Thankfully I check my acct often and noticed it immediately. I had to open new accts and get a new debit card. I have spent the morning notifying any automatic direct deposits and withdrawals of my new acct number. Getting thru to the government to make changes was awful. This whole thing has been so frustrating. Lesson learned: don’t leave accts dormant, make sure they are cancelled.
On a positive note: ODS and family are able to come to Thanksgiving dinner. Still waiting to hear from YDS.
Because of the banking issues, I missed my group alphabet supper last night. Supper will be grilled steak tonight.

Hi Ladies, Linda asked me to pop in here and let you know that the girls are safe and well prepared for Milton. She said the house is quite a bit North of Tampa and they are on the outer part of the cone, so are hoping it to less severe than Helene was there. Otherwise she's having a blast in the Uk!

Just got home from a retiree luncheon that we do twice a year with a large group. It was done at a local church where they had a small lunch sized turkey dinner that was absolutely delicious.
Hugs to anybody who needs them seems like everyone here is struggling. My anxiety is through the roof at times when I watch the weather channel and worry about some of my relatives that are going to come home to complete destruction. I am thankful though that they got out and that my niece is on the other coast.

I just heard from the vet where sweet Bella had her teeth cleaned and three pulled. She's still groggy so will hang out there for a couple more hours. Talking to him last week about the challenge of maintaining healthy dog teeth, and the fact that brushing can only do so much if you can actually get it done regularly, it is flossing that needs to happen. The lightbulb went off and I'm going to task DH with inventing a flossing device and/or water pik for dogs. It might take a couple years from product development to having one in every household, but I promise you this: I will host a dinner get-together with our first million. Sending out gentle hugs and a listening ear to all our sweet friends needing something today. Dinner will be shrimp and/or refried bean tacos with a slaw and assorted add-ons. I also have a cauliflower that needs to be used so will pop that in the little convection oven to toast/roast tossed with tajin and cumin. The shrimp and tortillas are technically from the freezer, but only went in last week so I don't think I can count them in the clean out. I did toss a container of unopened Talenti Mango Sorbet that was supposed to be used by Dec 2023.

I've been lurking here a bit, and I just want to tell all that are struggling that I am holding you in my warmest, safest thoughts. I wish I could come and give each of you a solid 20 second hug. jeremysgirl alerted me to the 20 second hug, and I freely give them out. I've been shocked at how receptive people are to it, and have had people ask for one more on the spot, or come back later and ask for one. They are awesome. BIG 20 SECOND HUGS FOR ALL!
