I shred a lot of chicken and it's not worth the trouble to me to drag out my Kitchen Aide. And I think the mixer shreds it too fine. Walmart

I love my kitchen aid but hate dragging it out. That looks like a handy tool.

My Kitchenaid is on the counter so it's easy to use it, but I don't always want to dirty it up if it's a small amount of chicken. I have bear claws that I use then. I like them. That's a cool gadget though.

I just saw this used on a TT video. It seemed ok, but I would almost rather use 2 forks?
I've also seen a smaller garlic grinder and I thought what a PITA, I would think a garlic press would do a better job.

I want one. I googled and saw some on amazon. The reviews say it works good. Thanks for sharing this.

One of the ladies I watch on YouTube uses one snd I’m a kitchen gadget person but I just use two forks to make mine. Maybe if I did larger amounts but then I would be more likely to use my KitchenAid. I have never used it for this as I don’t want to dirty it when I can easily use two forks. That said it seemed to work pretty well. I think she had that one but now has a different one that she got on Amazon.

Use 2 forks. I never liked the consistency when I used my KA mixer to shred chicken.
Two forks works well.

I would either use 2 forks for a small amt or get out the KA. I don't need another tool for sure.
Though I like my garlic grinder! I don't know what happened to my garlic press, I either dice it with a knife or use the garlic grinder thing. In general I don't like a bunch of single purpose gadgets.

What does the grinder for garlic look like? I do cut it with a knife because I refuse to use jarlic. Lol

I cut the chicken in large chunks and then break it up with my hands. I don’t like one purpose gadgets and gave away the claws because they were awkward.

That's a cool gadget though. I was given a set of bear claws, but have yet to try them. I have used my Kitchenaid several times and find it easy enough to wash by hand. It remains on my countertop so it was convenient. This new kitchen has half the amount of countertop though, so I don’t know if I will keep it out or not.

I have a small kitchen too and a love for gadgets. I would say it's probably equal amounts of time that I use either the KA or the bear claws or forks. Whatever is most handy because I'm lazy. I do have to admit that when I use the bear claws I have to stop for a sec and think how would I shred this meat if I was a bear?

DH was just looking at one of those yesterday and I said, why not just use the KitchenAid we already have? Ours lives on the counter full time so it’s not a hassle to use that. I don’t even find it all that difficult to clean. The stainless bowl can go in the dishwasher and the paddle washes up quickly by hand. I think the shredder thing would be much more difficult to clean IMO.

Anyway, mine gets used a lot bc I like Italian food and I don't use jarlic either. It tastes off to me. You do have to use a fork or something to get out the little pieces that get stuck in the teeth, but that's no different than a press. This is easier than the press (I have occasional tendonitis in my wrist that can make the press very difficult for me to grip sometimes!). Everyone on TikTok seems to use this device, but I kind of shake my head when I see it. It’s easy enough to shred with 2 forks if I don’t feel like washing the KitchenAid bowl.

90% of the time, I just use my hands. I either bake chicken breasts in the oven for 30 minutes or in the crockpot. Usually they are so tender that they just fall apart. If it’s really hot and I don’t have the time to wait, I’ll use 2 forks. I cook a lot from scratch and moving so much with the military often left me with smaller kitchens, so I tried to maximize my space.

Zee. Love the Dracula one. Lol. Thanks I do have the garlic press from pampered chef but you can only fit one clove in there and either one of those would be even better.

i cook my chicken breasts in the crock pot. if not overcooked, they shred very easily with a fork. I’ve seen some people take their handmixer and shred the chicken in the crockpot. If I have a lot to shred, I’ll take out my KitchenAid mixer. Otherwise I do it with a couple of forks

I have something similar from Amazon and like it. It does take some hand strength to use it. It washes up easily in the dishwasher.

Not a fan of one-purpose gadgets. Two forks or even a fork and a good knife work just as well. If I'm shredding a lot of chicken, then I use the KA.

I struggle with a 'shredded' texture. I just don't like it. For chicken, I will just take a large heavy knife and do a rough chop. By the time I stir it at all, it is approaching the "too shredded" texture for me anyways!

It would be more stuff to store in my kitchen. 2 forks works for me. For me it's an issue of storage.

Alton would call this a unitasker, and the only unitasker that belongs in a kitchen is a fire extinguisher.

Zee, Thank you for sharing the Ototo brand. They have the cutest stuff! I just ordered the little crab spoon rest for my team's white elephant party. I don't really eat pasta, but I really feel like I need the pasta monster!

Alton would call this a unitasker, and the only unitasker that belongs in a kitchen is a fire extinguisher. He's clearly never used one. . I guess it would depend how often you needed shredded chicken and if you want to drag out big appliances that can't be tossed in the dishwasher. It is a great time saver. If the meat isn't super well cooked, it works much better than two forks as well. To be fair, my kitchen space is way more than I need so having this shredder is just a win-win for me.

I cooked 4 lbs of chicken breasts in the IP today. Shredded it by hand after it had cooled. Then I divided it all into 2 cup portions into ziplock freezer bags. They are now frozen for future use.

I have one that I got off of Amazon similar to this. I cook up batches of chicken breasts quite often and shred them. Freeze most of it for future meals. I agree, hate taking out my Kitchen Aid, so this is very quick and easy to use.
