We have way too many trees in my area to have good viewing of them. If I was at our cabin I’d be able to see them very well over the lake if it was a clear night. We are totally surrounded by other houses and trees, but we were able to see them straight up above us last night. Maybe give that a try tonight. You never know!

I actually saw them pretty much overhead tonight. Didn’t even leave my yard to see them this time! We have pretty heavy tree cover in our yard/neighborhood. Once I get far enough away from the trees then I’d have the light pollution to deal with. We saw them very clearly earlier this year at our lake though.

We might be going to our cabin tonight though and I would be able to see them there.

I guess they were visible in my area, but we go to bed early so werent awake to see them. I have never seen them in my lifetime Try tonight as soon as it starts to get dark! People in my area were seeing them early on. A couple of nights ago my DH said that one of our employees saw them after he got to the shop and was heading out for the day so it was just before sunrise. Last night I also saw them before it was totally dark. Another tip, they aren't always in the north. Look straight up, very straight up. I saw them from my east, west and south facing windows last night. Just because they aren't out at 9pm or 1am or whatever doesn't mean they won't be back, could be in 2 minutes could be in 2 hours. They could last 2 minutes when they come back or last 2 hours. Lady Aurora is a fickle dancer. Take a photo with a long exposure to see if it picks up anything.

Hope it works.

Too many trees and lights and if I can only see it with my phone (looking at a couple people in my area!), I'm not counting it.

I'd have to leave my house and travel a short distance to get away from light pollution to see them. I get up so early for work, so I am in bad by 8. If they are out tonight I will attempt it. I've seen them in the past but have never photographed them. Even if you look up and don't see them try looking through the camera. We never did see them with our naked eye but saw plenty with the camera. I did this. Definitely couldn’t see anything with the naked eye. I THINK I might have caught a slight pinky/purple tinge…maybe.

I did. Now if I can remember how to post a picture For me the easiest way to attach a photo is to go through the app on my phone. Normally I come here on my laptop since typing on my keyboard is so much faster. But in the app go to the thread where you want to reply and post a photo, open that thread, hit the arrow to reply, then the screen will say "reply topic" at the top and your cursor will be on "write something". Click on the icon on the bottom that looks like mountains. Your photo library will come up. Choose the photo you want (or photos, but I can only do one at a time), click the check box in the upper right, click "done", choose the size (I always choose "small"), it will attach it, click post, done. If I can do it then anyone can. lol

I went out at 8, 9, 10, 11. By 11 I had a hard time getting anything with my camera. 10 was pretty decent. Nothing compared to May tho! Mays were awesome and I could see with my naked eye very faint.

I live in N. Idaho and Aurora has been putting on a show lately. This was taken off our deck.
