What's on the menu for your weekend? Any plans?
We are doing potluck with DH's sister & family. They host at Christmas the same deal - host makes the main, everybody brings a dish.
I'm hosting, so I have a 20 lb turkey. A local lavender farm that I love, posted a recipe for using culinary lavender in your turkey plans. (colour me stupid that I had no idea herbs de Provence contained lavender lol) I have a bottle that she gave me for doing lavender cookies for an event she was holding, so I'm totally doing this! And then I'll do the stuffing in the crock pot. And being me, we also have two desserts - apple crisp (Ina Garten's recipe) and a tequila pumpkin pie from the Violet Bakery in London (the one who did Harry & Megan's cake) - she has a book out.
And so far, somebody is bring a potato dish, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, mac & cheese, salad, carrots, and I bought the required Pillsbury crescent rolls lol.
We celebrate tomorrow, and then have two days to chill.
Gobble gobble all!
ETA - for those who will ask - here's her turkey rub recipe:
Lavender Turkey Rub Recipe: - 1 tsp Hereward Farms Culinary Lavender - 1 tbsp dried rosemary - 1 tbsp thyme - 1 tsp garlic powder - 1 tsp onion powder - 1 tsp paprika - 1/2 tsp black pepper - 1/2 tsp salt - 1/4 cup olive oil
Mix all ingredients, rub it all over your turkey, and let that lavender magic happen!

Happy Thanksgiving from Calgary!
I am going to my mum's senior's residence for turkey dinner on Sunday ... I certainly wouldn't let her be alone!
Then we are meeting up with my two dd's (ages 25 and 21) on Monday evening for dinner at The Keg! Yum!

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadian peas. Turkey sounds good. It’s a favorite of mine.

Happy Thanksgiving! We haven't cooked a turkey in years. My mom used to do one, and my sister-in-law when we were at their place. My husband is making an lasagna and we are going up to see his mom who is 96 in a couple of months and lives on her own. Our younger son will be joining us. Our older son lives in Nova Scotia so he doesn't make it here much. We saw him in May.
We used to have bigger Thanksgiving get-togethers alternating each side of the family. But since our parents have died (and my mother-in-law isn't up to it), they have gone by the wayside. Neither of our sons has a family either. Christmas is a more important time for us to have extended family gatherings.

Happy Thanksgiving from Ontario!
I’m cooking a turkey on Sunday and our two boys and their families plus my mom will be here. They bring the sides to make my workload easier. I have to say though that DH is a big help with the prep and cleanup.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!
One sis, who loves to make a big turkey spread, is running the Victoria Marathon on Sunday with her DS(33) so there was a bit of panic over their dinner plans. Instead of Thanksgiving dinner they pivoted to a brunch on Monday so those that need to grab a ferry home after the long weekend have plenty of time. I'm sad to not be joining them.

I had to go check the calendar as Monday is the day and today is Friday. However I am sure many families will gather this weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving, Canada!

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian Peas from the Kawarthas, where the trees give us a gorgeous show every fall!
We are celebrating tomorrow with around 10 or 12 family members. There is also a widowed friend of ours who is always invited but I haven't heard yet whether she's coming. My granddaughter is hosting, bless her heart. I told her if she does Thanksgiving, I'll do Christmas. LOL
We do the traditional big meal - turkey, stuffing, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, corn, yams, green beans, clover buns from the bakery and I make the desserts - cherry cheesecake and pumpkin pies. I also made my cranberry sauce so it's ready to go over there, too. We used to get a couple of bottles of cranberry wine from a local winery, but not everyone enjoyed it, so we gave that up and no one misses it. DGD got a case of Canada Dry cranberry ginger ale, which is always a hit.
The meal is always wonderful, but spending time with the family is by far the best part of Thanksgiving.

HOW did I not realize you were in Canada? LOL - I think I see "gramasue" and think UKSue in my head! My middle kiddo went to Flemming - so we are totally familiar with the beautiful trees up there!!

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadian peas! 🇨🇦🍁🦃
We are going for Chinese food tonight with DH’s family and then tomorrow we’ll be having dinner with my family at my sister’s place. She (well, her DH 😄) is making turkey and ham and all the sides. I’m bringing our traditional broccoli casserole and some nice soft white tray buns…I always make up a ham bun with lots of butter! 😄 Looking forward to it. Have a great weekend all! 🥰

I’m typing this as I lounge in bed with a mimosa in my accommodations for the weekend - a converted fishing boat (hot tub included!). We are on land so no worry about sea sickness 😉
We will be home Monday so I bought a small-ish turkey for the two of us and will do our regular favorite sides - must have is always sweet potatoes! DSO is having surgery on Thursday so I wanted to make the meal so I would have soup and a casserole or two for his recovery as he will be home for 4-5 weeks and I’m only taking the first 2 weeks off.
Hope everyone enjoys the holiday!

We had a turkey dinner on September 22, my birthday and my aunt and uncle were here from BC. Then my mom and I went on a European river cruise so no Thanksgiving gathering for us this weekend. My younger DD is coming from Edmonton in 10 days so it will be nice to see her. I had to go check the calendar as Monday is the day and today is Friday. However I am sure many families will gather this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving, Canada! It's Thanksgiving long weekend. I think most people have their gatherings on Sunday or Saturday to leave Monday free to relax and eat leftovers.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Island. I hope your plans are wonderful.
We are going to the kids’ house for Football and turkey. I am bringing blueberry crisp and good red wine. We are very excited about this because it’s the first celebration in their new home.
The diet will end tomorrow for a day! The saving grace is my dislike of the dessert. At least I can skip that. Everyone knows I don’t do blueberries ever. I am more than happy to indulge the other 3.
