Hi everyone! Today will be a quiet one which is a good thing because yesterday was super busy and I am peopled out! Scrabble yesterday with my mum, aunt and cousin (the four biddies) was a lot of fun! . I even came in second on one game ... I usually come in last ... OK, I always come in last! Today I need to wash sheets and towels and take out the recycling ... fun times! I plan to also take a nap sometime because I didn't sleep at all last night! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I have chronic RBF that I inherited from my Mum and now my dd's have it too! Ack! Dinner is up in the air ... maybe potato and onion perogies if I feel like cooking ... yum! How are we all feeling today? naby64? The Birdhouse Lady? scrappintoee? KelleeM? rymeswithpurple? ... and anyone I have missed! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Good morning, leannec. Woohoo! 2nd at Scrabble. That would be a dream for me. My mother was an avid chess and Scrabble player. No one could beat her at either game. Can you get a nap in today? Not sleeping must be so hard on your little body. Yikes. Will you see your new friend this weekend? The ironic thing about the Golden Girls is that the actress who played Sophia was the youngest of all the women. A little trivia that no one cared about. hehe. We're gonna take our cameras down the block to a little park and practice shooting photos. I have a game to play and I've been practice knitting. So, we're really wondering if our stray is pg? She's still big, but it doesn't look her tummy is hanging to the ground anymore. It's really hard to tell now. She won't let us get close enough to really check her. We've been feeding her, in case she is pg, but I don't want a 3rd cat. I'm going to work on getting her trapped and fixed. If she's not pg and it's a male then I still want to have the cat trapped, fixed and released. Why do I love cats so much? I think I'm making fajitas tonight. We are almost done w/our peppers and I want to make a pepper dish before dh has to pull the plants. Enjoy the day, my lovely tribe.

Today is our last day of vacation. We’ll be out reasonably early tomorrow to drive home - it should take about 4 hours if all goes to plan. Today, DH drove to a local wine store that we have been to before - it stocks mainly local wines - and bought a few cases to take home. While he did that, I wandered down to the weekly market near our hotel. It was so different to the one yesterday - very small, and only one stall for each thing. One side of the road was food - fruit, veggies, cheese, honey - and the other side was hand crafted objects. I picked up some little felt animal puppets and some lovely handmade sheep’s milk soap. We then walked 2.5km, a lot of it uphill, to the Botanical Gardens. They were absolutely wonderful and we stayed nearly 4 hours before walking down the hill again. DH decided we deserved gelato after that, so we crossed the bridge to where we knew there was a nice gelato shop, then sat by the river and ate it before returning to the hotel for a swim and a soak in the jacuzzi.
For dinner tonight, we are going to a restaurant we’ve walked past every day going into town. Not sure what we’ll eat - they specialise in pizza but have a full menu.

leannec I hope you get some rest! My grandmother was a Scrabble and crossword puzzle whiz! scrapmaven I just watched a video this morning about a couple in their mid to late 70s who transformed their huge back yard into an oasis for older cats who would otherwise be euthanized. Amazing people! sueg your day sounds absolutely perfect, except for the walking uphill part! Glad you’ve had such a lovely vacation! Thank you all for your kindness yesterday. I’m doing pretty well today. I told my dear friend I was giving myself a few days to wallow and would snap out of it and I think I have. I did something yesterday for the staff in the ICU where dh spent his final three days and it made me feel really good! Dinner here is beef again…not my choice. Ds wants stroganoff. I’ll cook the meat in the Instant Pot and he’ll handle the rest.

Can you get a nap in today? Not sleeping must be so hard on your little body. Yikes. Will you see your new friend this weekend? I hope so! I have bags under my eyes ... not pretty! I saw him last night and he gave me two huge bags of mint M&M's from Las Vegas! I'm pretty sure we will get together tonight ... maybe go for dinner Why do I love cats so much? Because cats are the best animal to exist! (Dogs run a close second). Have you ever seen the cat videos where they "talk" by pushing these round buttons on the floor? Each button says a word out loud ... "eat", "love", "noise", "window", "closet", "upstairs" ... it is so cool that these cats actually understand the words and know which button says what! Happy Saturday, ladies!
We are running errands this morning and will have brunch/lunch. It's been a rough week. I've been keeping up mostly and sending good thoughts for all of our friends here. My family stuff is better. I think I'm just over people. But in the middle of the night my sweet former student who is like a daughter to me reached out. Her parents were in a terrible car accident and her mother has died. Her father is injured. The relationships are complicated and now this. Of course she is devastated and trying too hard to be the only adult in the family instead of trying to process everything and take care of everyone. We are set to go camping this week but we are up in the air now as I will drop everything when she needs me, when arrangements are made, etc. So, while I am fine, please send love into the universe for a young woman who has lost her mom. She texted the news at 2am saying she wanted to tell her mom something bad had happened and realized she couldn't, so she texted me. 😭😭😭

We just returned from our walk. The air has a chill and the sky is blue. A great fall day. I'll work on my layouts for the crop and at 4PM will be glued to the TV for the LSU vs Ole Miss game. **GypsyGirl** , I hope it is a great game with no injuries to either team. Dinner will be Chicken Noodle Soup. KelleeM , I'm glad you're doing better today. Big hugs. leannec , I'm the queen of RBF. I hate it.

Happy Stay at Home Saturday!!! I've taken the day off and have the goals of not getting in my car and catching up on things around the house. Just a lot of little piddly things that need to be done but only take a few minutes. They have really stacked up and are beginning to stress me. It feels good to not have to be anywhere though. The reinforcements have arrived! DD got back last night from Berlin and is visiting with her dad this morning. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Dinner tonight will be the spaghetti sauce I made on Thursday. Not sure if DD will stop by for some or not. I'll work on my layouts for the crop and at 4PM will be glued to the TV for the LSU vs Ole Miss game. **GypsyGirl** , I hope it is a great game with no injuries to either team. Same here! I'll be watching and either quilting or needlepointing away the stress! Just put the Ms State Bulldogs flag out front since they play first. Told DH it was going to be a bloodbath (they play Georgia in Athens). His comment was that if Vandy could beat Bama then there was hope!

DH and I went to the last of the small town fairs this morning. We hadn’t been for a few years and it will probably be another few years before we go back. We bought some cheese, honey garlic pepperoni sticks and sweet potato dental sticks for Walker.
I think I’m ready for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. The whole family is coming so 10 of us in total. The food is bought, turkey is thawing and DH will clean up the garage so we can eat out there. Supper at 5 tomorrow if anyone wants to come!
Supper tonight will be cleaning out the fridge because we will need the room for leftovers tomorrow. I have some steak leftover that I will probably have with a salad.

leannec Woke up around 4:30 with some dull sternum pain, and a touch of congestion and sore throat. I've just grown accustomed to having ear pain at least once a day. Not sure what was going on there. (I also had some bizarro world dreams, but that is not the least bit concerning to me, because I always have the strangest dreams.) tmarschall I think that speaks volumes that she reached out to you. And I'm not surprised one bit. You're so caring! We went apple picking this morning (though there was not a whole lot left), then to breakfast, a farmer's market, and the bookstore. Now I'm just relaxing and cross-stitching and enjoying a cup of coffee. Dinner tonight will be butternut squash soup.

Dinner here will be a grilled burger, rosemary fries in the AF and Apple Crisp I made, although I just realized there is no vanilla ice cream , so it will have to be whipped cream on top. I went to HL to get some foam adhesive and a basket I need to gift some Halloween candy in. It was pretty crowded...and I just told DH it looks like Christmas threw up .....It was EVERYWHERE!!!
I got word yesterday that most of the elective surgery has been cancelled for tuesday and wednesday of next week. Monday is the holiday here. The shortage of IV fluids is REAL....the Baxter Factory was hugely impacted by Helene....Not sure how or when they will recover. I feel bad for our patients impacted by this, as they plan their life around scheduling surgery...Jobs, Family, child/elder care.....It is terrible. I feel really bad for the folks directly impacted by the Hurricanes so devastating .

Had to run by Costco for a gift card and gas after yoga and plan to spend the rest of the day puttering between my craft room and backyard. I'm trying to finish a book and think I've decided what to do about my craft supply inventory. With everything else going on, I've been limping along but getting frustrated and at the point I need/want to deal with it. I've used Evernote for everything (stamps, dies, embossing folders, stencils, etc.) for years and seriously love it but they have basically shut down the free access so I'm moving my craft supply inventory to AirTable. Anybody else use AirTable for anything? Before moving everything into the new database, I WILL purge ruthlessly. Dinner will be homemade lasagne and a Caesar salad.

So here is my weird situation.
I took some generic of a generic drug last week for a uti and it’s still there. I went to the lab Thursday and still have a UTI. It’s a long weekend, right?
I call the Healthlink BC number and waited an hour online and on another phone called the pharmacist I deal with. He cannot prescribe anything strong because it’s out of his scope of practice.
I have 5 Macrobid left and it’s not a full Rx but if will get me through all day Monday and my GP can prescribe something better on Tuesday.
I used to see a urologist and her Rx was 2 pills x2 days. My GP thinks I need a week of meds and I just have 5 pills. Either way I have enough meds to get through the long weekend.

karenlou.....How scary about the shortage of IV fluids! @tcmarschall.....How sad! It's sweet you're like a Mom to her. KelleeM.....How nice that you did something special for the ICU staff that cared for Dick! Yesterday, I was remembering when I made this beef/puff pastry dish around the time he'd died. I made a little sign that said "in honor of Kelly's DH's Chinese Pie" (I think that's what it was called?) It always made me laugh how you said you didn't like it and something about garlic...? Anyway, I don't know if you ever saw that pik or not. christine58....Hmm...even if they weren't joking, I'll bet "picnic food" at a fancy country club would be delicious. scrapmaven....the way you said "why do I like cats so much !??!" made me laugh. It's so sad that all the rescues/ trappers are so overwhelmed and can't help. I can't read our bulldog or pug rescue facebook pages anymore. I just cry and wish DH and I could take all of them. I have SO much respect for the amaaaazing hoomans who help these precious animals. I do miss going to all the fund-raising events, (and petting/ meeting lotsss of bulldogs and pugs !!!) but will go back someday.

Turkey burgers, fries, and baked beans is what I am serving tonight.
Ds and I got home a bit ago from some city activities. Fire station open house, stop at the library, then a ride on the Arrow train end to end and back.
Dd is at an event for a Paleontology. Dh has been sending photos. Some of the curators she works with are there.

pantsonfire....I wondered if "Arrow Train" was one of those fun trains where they take you around to see Halloween stuff, etc. When I googled, it said it's in San Bernardino----omg, if that's where you live, I am SOOO jealous! My Dad and his second wife lived there for a while, and I LOVED it !! I love every California city I've visited, and have always wanted to move there! leannec scrapmavenTearisciAnd anyone else who watches "Love Is Blind". I've been enjoying this new D.C. season, but last night, I discovered another version "Love Is Blind Habibi". Many of the contestants speak multiple languages, which I love listening to (with sub-titles, of course). The other thing I LOVE about this and the others (Mexico, Brazil) is that they don't say "LIKE" every other word! And, no vocal fryyyyy like many of the Americans. That one cute couple in DC---the physicist and I can't remember what she does for a living-- they say LIKE so. many. times. in every sentence, I've had to mute them. I find it interesing that two highly educated professionals speak like that ?!!!

**GypsyGirl** cadoodlebug All your college football banter is fun to read, and I *wish* I liked football, because sooo many of my friends and family are very into it. I have no idea if Texas A & M ("gig 'em Aggies!") are in the same (conference? ) of your teams, and I don't wanna start a riot but just wanted to show you my babies in their Texas A & M gear! Fun twist----Meaty and Sophie's Daddy graduated from Texas A &M *AND* University of Texas. But since DH's first college was A&M, he has much more sentimental attachment and roots for them. (P.S....Got to go to my first college game about 20 years ago. It was soooo fun, and A&M's band was amazing! I've always loved the excitement of the crowd, and the music! I just wish I loved watching the game). Got to take the babies to tour their Daddy's Alma Mater a few years ago--- so fun! Laughing at myself for posting so much....I obviously have wayyyy too much time on my hands today!

I haven't had a chance to read everything but I saw I was nudged here. I've been nursed by 2 crackhead Aussies (the 4 legged kind), and sweet adult kids. Started the day taking my car in for an oil change and then to breakfast. Headed to Barnes and Noble, where I want ALL the books. I settled for Wuthering Heights and on jeremysgirl's suggestion, Isa Does It by Isa Moskowitz. I'll be looking harder at it tonight. DD, her visiting friend and I even braved Sam's on a Saturday, midday. More chilling this evening with tv shows catch-up. I am feeling better but miss my puppies. Trying to not think of real life again for a bit. Thanks for checking!! Oh, and dinner is a charcuterie board we'll put together after a very short road trip to grab some essentials. And a French 75.

A&M has been in the SEC for a while and Texas joined this year. 16 teams now which I think are too many. They did away with the SEC West and East divisions so now some of our rivalry games have gone by the wayside. We play A&M this year but not Texas. Cute photos!!

scrappintoee I don't live in San Bernardino but close. My grandparents lived there and I went to school in that district. It is an extension of Metrolink so you can take it from Uni if Redlands to downtown San Bernardino and then connect to the larger Metrolink trains that have various lines like IE, OC, LA, etc. We have done that a few times as well. In Jan or Feb Arrow train will be the first hydrogen powered train. They are training right now. We got it over summer and they have to do training and certification. It will only Emmet water vapor. We are hoping to do the Perris Metrolink line in Dec for the Santa train.

Hahahaha scrappintoee, your babies are so cute (sorry, I mean adora-BULL ) in their uniforms! tmarschall I'm sorry for your friend who lost her mum. How fortunate she is to have someone like you to call on at a time like this. DSO went to a 60th birthday party for one of his colleagues. Partners were not invited. On one hand I was glad, because I wouldn't have wanted to go anyway. But on the other hand..... it's a bit rude. I had rechauff pasta for dinner.

(Not a fan of the expansion if you can't tell ) We are both from original SEC schools. DH, my dad and both sisters went to Miss. State. Mom grew up in Texas and was always an A&M fan so I was raised with that influence, although now half the family is Texas and half is A&M. Makes it interesting during football season! As for Meaty and Sophie, they are the cutest Aggies I've ever seen! Was your DH an engineering student there - or part of the corp?
