I just wanted to share a lovely tradition we have in our area. Brittany was an eight-year-old third grade student at Heritage Lakes Elementary. She was born with a heart condition that, with medication, was thought to be controlled and allow her to live a normal. She was living with a congenital heart condition called Long QT Syndrome. Sadly she passed away in 2005.
Family and friends to come together every year on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. The morning begins with friends and family surrounded by hundreds of Christmas trees, they split up into teams and go from house to house, spreading the Holiday spirit to all of those who are so kind to participate. For a small donation, that goes the SADS Foundation, the trees are delivered, and the members of the team string the lights. All they ask is that you run an extension cord out to your tree.
2005 delivered and set-up 22 trees in our town
2024 they plan to deliver and set-up 2,200 trees to 30+towns
Last year they raised 40,000.00
What a wonderful way to remember Brittany and help a worthwhile charity.
