Sorry you're not feeling well leannec . We just got back from a long walk on this beautiful fall day. Today I will continue to work on my layouts ~ I didn't do it yesterday because I kept watching college football. Dinner will be Horseradish Meatloaf.

We made it home from vacation just before 2 this afternoon. I’m glad we left when we did - with roadworks, weather and slowness at toll booths only going to get worse as the day went on. First load of laundry is done and I’ll do the next tomorrow when this one is dry. All other unpacking has also happened.
As Sunday means no open supermarket and there’s no food in the house, dinner tonight is Indian takeout. DH is on his way with it right now.

Just checked the turkey and it’s cooked. I’ll let it rest for awhile before plating it for supper. The turnip is in the pot, coleslaw is made. I’m also trying my hand at cooking squash which could be interesting! Everyone is bringing the rest. Looking forward to a day of family.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinners this weekend for those celebrating! We are going out to celebrate DH's birthday tonight. His birthday is in March. His dinner out was put off because of my treatment and, even though we have been out celebrating other things since then, we haven't specifically celebrated his birthday. He picked his favorite Brazilian steakhouse, Texas de Brasil, which is a serious meatfest. He and DS love the continuous stream of grilled meats (multiple cuts of beef, pork, lamb and chicken) coming to the table. DD and I like it, although DH knows I will patiently wait until they bring the filet mignon. I do love that the salad bar includes enough seafood options to keep me happy.

We went to one of these in Napa last year. Since neither one of us could possible eat enough for the price, we ordered off the menu and the food was amazing. We did, however, get a huge kick out of watching all the waiters walk around with the giant *skewers* full of different cuts of meat. Have fun and happy belated birthday to your DH.

leannec feel better soon!! We just got back from the farm that has a pumpkin patch. We love it as it's a real farm, has lots of animals we can look at and pet, playground for ds to dig with his trucks, and great prices on their pumpkins. Now we are relaxing after a fun weekend of events. Got some laundry to finish up and some food prep to do. Fixing braised chicken, braised red potatoes and green beans, cranberry sauce, and muffins. Not sure which type I will make yet. Maybe coffee cake.

Morning, all. Dinner is probably rechauffe pasta salad. I made it yesterday for a picnic at a winery where we went with friends for a jazz/soul/rock band. Same venue/band as we attended before, in August. So much fun. (No, the pasta salad didn’t sit out all day and then come home with me. This is the extra I left in the fridge at home.) scrappintoee, sorry I missed yesterday’s thread, was gone all day. Thanks for asking about me. I am doing fine and have just been so busy. DD was here for a week and I’m still recovering. She says she’s coming for one week/month for the rest of time. No, really. KelleeM, I’m sorry I missed your sad anniversary of Dick’s passing. You take care, sweetie. tmarschall, I’m so sorry about your friend’s terrible loss. Probably missed some others skimming through.

Dinner is in the slow cooker, white chicken chili….this is a first for me. The recipe was in the issue of cooking light I got the other day. It called for boneless skinless thighs, however I had both breasts left from a rotisserie chicken so I used that and I’m sure it will be fine. I’m working tonight so will be taking a nap soon…..
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Peas!!! Enjoy your time with family and friendsđź’ť

((hugs )) to anyone who needs 'em! I'm excited because DH and I are going to have "Dunch" (between dinner and lunch) at a restaurant we haven't determined yet, then to Home Depot* and then we'll grab groceries. I've always loved grocery shopping, and since I couldn't do it for a while, it's an EXTRA fun treat for me now! *stopping at Home Depot also probably means a "quick" stop at Lowe's because HD won't have some specific thing he needs. leannec....Oh nooo! Hope you're feeling better ASAP! bc2ca.....That restaurant is awesome! We went to the one in San Antonio for niece's college graduation. One of my hilarious sis-in-laws thought the skewers of meat were a bit..... phallic, so there are some funny photos. I remember the salad bar was also fantastic, but don't remember the seafood. lucyg....Glad you're okay! I know you've been ultra busy lately. pantsonfire.....Ohhh, that looks beautiful! I've been waiting for the weather to cool down in order to go visit the farms/ gardens that have lots of pumpkin displays. Next weekend there is also a "Haunted Pooch" parade downtown, and I reallllly hope my bones will allow me to go. I miss Hallo-woof doggie events so, so much! scrapmaven.....Like, I, like, laughed at like, the way you imitated like those two like highly educated like scientists. Like....can you IMAGINE them in work meetings? What about when they have to like, make a professional presentation? Seriously! Although I have to wonder---maybe the excessive LIKES happen because they're nervous being filmed 24/7 ? I cannot IMAGINE letting millionsss of people knowing such intimate details!

Since neither one of us could possible eat enough for the price, we ordered off the menu and the food was amazing. This steakhouse is a set price, with no menu options, but DH & DS make up for my inability to get my money's worth. Costco gift cards give us a 25% discount which helps a lot. We just got back from the farm that has a pumpkin patch. I love a real pumpkin patch! Looks like a perfect day. She says she’s coming for one week/month for the rest of time. No, really. Sorry I LOLed and had something similar going on with a couple sisters tag teaming me. My current NED status has them backing off a bit. That restaurant is awesome! We went to the one in San Antonio for niece's college graduation. One of my hilarious sis-in-laws thought the skewers of meat were a bit..... phallic, so there are some funny photos. I remember the salad bar was also fantastic, but don't remember the seafood. It isn't a huge seafood selection, but enough shrimp and salmon to keep me happy. People are definitely there for the meat.

It’s been a lazy day here except for grocery shopping this morning. I finished the book I started reading yesterday. I used to read a ton. My degree is in English and I remember reading 2-3 novels a week in college. I don’t read much anymore because I can.not.stop! If I enjoy a book I just leave life behind… it’s a struggle! Dinner tonight is Trader Joe’s orange chicken and vegetable fried rice. There will be fresh carrots and green beans as well. I needed a break from beef…tomorrow night will be rechauffe stew and stroganoff. lucyg…thanks! I’m so happy that you’re enjoying life and your gentleman friend! Sorry, I laughed when I read that dd is coming for a week every month! My oldest friend’s dh is living with cancer. He’s 2+ years in and they’ve kept him going but he’s failing. He’s only 64 and a retired LEO. She stopped working to stay home because, as we all know, you just never know how long you have. I’m guessing your dd doesn’t want to regret not spending time with you. Hugs.

bc2ca did you vote yet? We voted walking distance to the house and got right in. I didn’t know it could be this easy. If you haven’t voted yet please do. Your children live here and use and need our services (medical, transit, etc). We are going to the kids’ house in a while.

When my mother was going through her clinical trial it was at a major hospital near my sister's house. So, she moved in w/my sister for 2 months and they really had the chance to bond. I flew down there every week or so, as well. lucyg, your daughter will never say, "wow. I wish I hadn't spent so much time w/my mother". Instead, she'll know that there is never enough time to spend w/your mom. You did a great job and your reward is not only children who are thriving, but also children and a grandson who love you so much that they want to spend as much time as possible w/you. I would give anything in the world to have an in person chat w/my mother and also my mil. Your dd loves you. This is a great time for the two of you to really connect on a deeper level.
leannec, I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well today. I hope you feel much better by tmw.
This morning I was cooking up a storm. Ods wanted me to make his favorite chicken tortilla soup to eat while he's here this week. Also, I have chicken marinading for a new fajita recipe for dh. This afternoon I practiced my aria and scales. Now I'm about to settle into my game.

bc2ca said "This steakhouse is a set price, with no menu options, but DH & DS make up for my inability to get my money's worth. Costco gift cards give us a 25% discount which helps a lot." We walked in to see what it was like and were told that the *all-you-can-eat* was around $75 a person. We just weren't that hungry so said thanks and started to leave. Then the woman said *perhaps you'd like to order off the menu?* We had no idea and were so glad she said that because what we ended up eating was wonderful. The place and ambiance were amazing. Lots of different areas with a few tables in each area. Very intimate. And the couple nearest to us got engaged! 25% discount would be great!

pantsonfire that pumpkin farm sounds like so much fun! Love the photo, and I'm just imagining what papers I would use to scrap the photos if we had such a thing here.... blue (for the sky) and orange (for the pumpkins) is one of my favourite colour combinations. Ooops sorry, I thought I was on the GS side for a moment. bc2ca that restaurant sounds amazing! I have heard good reviews about Brazilian and Argentinian steakhouses both here and in Bangkok (where we've been twice in two years) but they are sooooo expensive! If I ever get up there to the US, I'm coming with you to your DH's favourite restaurant. Speaking of so expensive.... Sunday was the most beautiful spring day (finally!). I suggested to DSO that we head into the city and go to have a look at the State Library, then for lunch at our favourite restaurant. Our favourite restaurant doesn't open on Sundays anymore, so I chose two other possible Asian Fusion restaurants. On our way to one of them, we passed another one that I saw when I was googling, so we dropped in there instead. I wish I had read the menu first, because it was really expensive, and didn't have as many options as the others. We only had a couple of starters - we had a lobster roll each, and shared some peppered pork ribs. The photo is so you can see the size of the dishes (sorry no banana for scale). The lobster rolls were $24 each, and the ribs were $28 for five little ribs (we'd already eaten one each when I took the photo.) My mocktail, which was essentially blood orange and lime juice, was $13, and DSO's can of beer was $15. Add on the Sunday surcharge of $10, and our bill came to a whopping $114 for one and a half starters each! The food was absolutely delicious, but for that money, I expect to walk out full. I made lasagne for dinner, and as I was thinking what cheese to add to the béchamel sauce, I thought of scrappintoee and added the rest of the cream cheese in the fridge.

scrappintoee I hope you can make it to your parade. I would send my family to that kind of restaurant without me. They eat Asian food without me all the time because I don’t enjoy it. I let some stupid things my family has done the past few days almost ruin my weekend. Then Luke walked in and was so happy to see us I for got all about it. His parents are at the theatre so we’re having a sleepover. Made cavatelliand meatballs with salad for dinner.

I took a picture of my dinner and it was beautiful.
My son did an excellent job and DDIL herself held her own in the kitchen. It was awesome. The wine seemed enjoyable, too. I was driving home (and don’t like wine).
Dexter is mad I left him for a couple of hours. He isn’t as neglected as you would think. He has had a bazillion scratches, cuddles, kisses and treats, but he is mad that we just went out and wants out again.

DD and I like it, although DH knows I will patiently wait until they bring the filet mignon. I do love that the salad bar includes enough seafood options to keep me happy. We have three of those here but I have never been because I don't love red meat enough and I certainly cannot put away enough food to make it worth the money ... if they had fish and seafood I would be in there like a dirty shirt! Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Peas!!! Enjoy your time with family and friendsđź’ť Thanks so much! We are actually going to a steakhouse tomorrow (The Keg) to celebrate ... I don't roast turkey's anymore. I've just realized that I stated that I don't eat a lot of red meat and then turn around here and say I am going for steak tomorrow ... well, I order fish there, not steak! We only had a couple of starters - we had a lobster roll each, and shared some peppered pork ribs. The photo is so you can see the size of the dishes (sorry no banana for scale). I hope he was able to help you get some perspective on things and you are able to deal with them easily tomorrow
