On Friday the 13th, 1970, a frenzied mob swarmed the cemetery in a crusade to slay the alleged beast. Two magicians, Farrant and Manchester, had each claimed that they would be first to kill the vampire inside. Graves were ransacked. Corpses were staked and beheaded.⁠ And, while no monsters discovered during the Highgate Vampire Sensation, Farrant was arrested with a stake and crucifix in hand.
