How is it where you live? So very dry and dusty here. The dust just hangs in the air. Sunrises and sunsets are beautiful, but you can see the dust in the air. My poor house! You can just see the dust on the floors! No time to do anything about it at the moment. I am hauling corn and the dust on the country roads is choking. When you pass/meet another truck or tractor & wagons the visibility is zero for a distance. Scary! Fire danger is super high. We open the headlands and immediately bring the tractor and disc and and disc the under to we can bring trucks in with far less fire danger. We keep the tractor and disc in the field incase we need a firebreak. We also have a trailer with about 300 gallons of water and a firehose attachment on it in case we need to put out a combine or truck before the FD can get there. The grain has dried down. Beans were too dry, but the corn for the most part has been about perfect. You shoot for 14% and we have been running from the high 13's to the occasional 15% load. Looks like we might get some light precipitation mid-week. That might settle the dust for a day or two. Harvest is close to finishing for us, so we really don't want a lot of rain right now! Just give us 3-4 more good days! I'm home for the morning, but back to trucking before noon. Elevator opens at 12! My days in the truck are 7 am to 8 pm. I'm pooped!

NTX, as is most of TX is in a drought. October is our second wettest month, and we haven’t had a drop. Thankfully, we are expecting a few chances this coming week. Fingers crossed!

The forecast here is for a late fall and early spring. We've had two good rainfall years so I'm dreading heading back into drought territory. It's still regularly sunny and in the 80s. It's looking like temps will drop next week but there's still no rainfall in the forecast.

I'm in northern PA. The area towns just put burn bans into effect within the last few days and we have a special advisory for wildfires right now due to the winds and dry conditions.
It was just a few days ago that it dawned on me that I hadn't even given the running water on our property a thought in quite some time, and in fact, I can't even see any water running right now. It's a creek bed full of leaves.
And while I'm relieved to have a break from flooding, the opposite is problematic as well.
To look outside it the yard and ground does not appear dry. The grass is green, the leaves are colorful. But that doesn't mean that the grasses and plants in area fields and woodlands can't catch if someone is burning these days.

My area of So Cal has not had more than .5 in of rain since March. In June, July, Aug and so far Oct there hasn't been any measurable rain (Sept there was 0.03 in). It has been a very dry summer and fall so far. In the 10 day forecast I see one day with rain, 0.02 inches, but it probably won't actually happen. In the San Diego area it is normal to not have rain in the summer. I looked up the averages and it is less than 0.01”. 😂 Our rainy season is usually late October until mid-April. This year, I was grumbling because I couldn’t put away the patio furniture covers until around late May or so. We kept having pockets of rain every 5-7 days or so. Yes definitely normal to not have rain at all in the summer. But usually we have several misty ish days by now in the fall and we've only had one. I looked up a website that had monthly totals for the last 4-5 yrs and this summer/fall so far is definitely the driest of them based on actual totals.

We had some lightening last night so I was hopeful but nothing came of it. Our last rain was the 6" we got from Hurricane Helene a month ago. Nothing is in the forecast.

I’m in SF - October is usually one of our best months…we’ve had very little rain. We’ve had a beautiful, sunny summer and fall.

Central CA foothills… we’re finally cooling off from the 100 days here! Not a drop of rain since April? May? And over 50 days of 100+ weather until earlier this month. October is usually pretty dry, we tend to get rain Feb-April for the year.
Being in CA, we are ALWAYS being told to conserve. Our water/sewer is around $300/mo so we do what we can.
ETA- wow! Just checked… 0.77” of rain since the first part of May! It doesn’t seem like we’ve had that much. It was in .01-.05 increments but it adds up! We had 1.26” on May 4.

My sunset views. This was a nice one, but not spectacular, as some have been. That’s a great shot! it sounds like so many parts of the U.S. are in a drought. Usually by late October the rains have started and leaves are washed off the trees. I’m most worried on the windy days because of the danger of forest fires and the thousands of acres of pine trees near my home.

It sounds as if we've had most of the rain that usually falls in the US.

It briefly poured and I got excited but it didn’t last even a minute. I was hoping for a bit more. It looks like we might get a little rain on sat night a whole.33 inches but it’s better than nothing. I’m ready for some rain.

Southern Ohio we are in extreme drought condition. We get our water from a spring-it is not producing. We are monitoring our water reservoir-we have 4 cisterns which holds 10,000 gallon total capacity, basically 1/2 a year of water. We may have to buy-water next week.

We are very dry. We had lots of rain in July and now we are dry. Hopefully it rains tomorrow. The local pumpkin patches have not been able to do bonfires. There are worries about farm equipment starting fires.

Also very, very dusty. We went out to a pumpkin patch yesterday. You could see the dust in the air. All the cars were coated with dust.

Are you able to water out there? So far they haven’t given us restrictions, and I imagine watering is essential for you. No water restrictions. There is actually some water running out of drainage tiles yet in spots. Creek and river are still running, but low. It was much worse last fall. We do have a burn ban.

Looks like more rain and possible snow is on the way this weekend.

It's even dry here in GA. I can't say I mind much, personally. A little rain would be welcome but it will probably rain half of November and there is nothing more depressing than November rain (just ask Axl). Cold, sad, misty, ick.

My sunset views. This was a nice one, but not spectacular, as some have been. I love when others post pics like this. So cool to see just open as far as you can see. I am surrounded about 80% by mountains and hills being in a valley. Only way I can see straight out is towards LA. On clear days you can see wat out that way. But a small hike up near Yucaipa and I can see the Mexican border on a clear day.

We had a good 30 min of heavy rain then another of light rain. Everything was soaked and the grass is still sloshy. Few puddles left too. Woke up to 41° temp. Felt so good after the horrible 100°+ long summer
