Liz Cheney, J. Michael Luttig and other Republicans who are endorsing Harris inspire me and give me hope. There's been a lot of talk about young men supporting Trump. But, as this writer points out not as much talk about women supporting Harris. Two things have given me hope on a personal level. My DH is an independent but leans conservative. He doesn’t agree with several of Kamala's policies but he’s a never Trumper. He waited in line for an hour last week to vote and while he admits he wasn’t thrilled about it, he voted for Kamala. My SIL is a Southern Baptist Republican. I would guess that abortion is her #1 issue. My brother told me that she voted for Kamala this week too. I wasn’t completely surprised by my DH as he often votes Democrat for president but I was shocked by my sister in law. It gives me hope.

Not an invitation to rail at me… I am totally disillusioned with the entire electoral process. The way Maga has hijacked the Republican party. Divisiveness. Ugly rhetoric, thinly veiled, and not veiled, hate. Hate in general. Hate. Hate and hate.. Voting for policy that I absolutely am against (homebuyers, credits, small business, credits, money, money, money, money, money for everybody, but those that earned it.) Misinformation. Disinformation. Lies and more lies by nearly everybody in either party. Never-ending othering and finger-pointing. Distilling entire humans down into two buckets. Disregard for diverse, perspectives, experiences, and priorities. I could go on and on and on. I don’t feel any better about voting for Kamala Harris than I did for Joe Biden. It’s more than hold my nose. I also believe that the Democrats knew that Biden was weak, fragile, and unable to complete the election process much less another four year term. They hijacked our two party system with a candidate that did not receive a single primary vote. All that said, I knew who I was voting for Harris, but I viscerally did not want to. My state has early voting, and Michelle Obama’s speech gave me the strength that I needed to go in and cast my vote. For the record, her approach obviously didn’t change my mind. I knew how I was voting. But it made the shit sandwich that is our political system more palatable long enough to go fill out some bubbles. Too bad liberal warriors have chosen to be condescending, wielding their “superior, intellect” for months and months, rather than engage actual human voters as people. Republican does not equal maga. I hope Harris wins. I hope she is a fantastic president. Or at the minimum a president for all people. I don’t think that’s possible, but it’s better than the alternative. Glad to be done with it. |

2 Harris volunteers just showed up at my house here in NH to ask if we’re planning to vote. I’m taking that as a positive sign, I haven’t seen any Trump ones. We’re all registered as Independents because NH allows you to declare/ undeclare a party on the day of the primary.

It is positive to see principled Republicans taking a stand against Trumpism. It gives me hope that they may someday regain control of their party. I'd like to get back to a place where both sides operate in good faith and work together for the good of the country.
