Think back to trick or treating days. What was the candy you picked first when digging through your stash? Which was your least favorite?
I liked Goldenberg peanut chews and Payday bars.
Least favorite — York peppermint patties!
My siblings and I would put all our candy in a pile after trick or treating and trade with each other. Peanut chews and PayDay bars were always my first picks.
We always had pizza for dinner on Halloween night. As an adult, when my own kids were little, we usually spent Halloween with my sister and her kids. My parents would come over too, and it was a little party. Happy memories.

As a kid my least favorite were Mary Janes and my favorite were 3 Musketeers.
I used to go out with my dad & possibly a combo of siblings & my mom (depending on the age of my other siblings any given year) until I was about 9. We didn't have many other kids in the neighborhood then. I don't recall any specific rituals we kids did.
Then we moved and from 10 up I was in a neighborhood with tons of kids, so one parent from a few different families would walk with a big group of us, while the other parents stayed home to hand out candy. We used to stop at the corner market and they would let us choose a full size candy from behind the counter, which was the highlight of our night!
That was back when a lot of people asked for jokes/songs, and many people still had kids go inside to get treats.

My own kids always sort candy and trade. When they were small they went out with cousins, and a few of us adults would walk with them. When they were little they'd all want to take turns ringing the doorbells. It was this huge deal, LOL. If one or two houses didn't require ringing a bell, then we'd have to stop to remember whose turn it was. These days if I ask my kids for a candy, it's a Snickers or a Twix.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup was my favorite, and all 4 of my siblings favorite as well. Those never got traded.
I hated Mounds and Almond Joy. Didn't know back then I was allergic to coconut.

My least favorite were black licorice. I still can't believe that some houses tried to give those out for Halloween! My favorite was anything with chocolate. Didn't matter what kind. Now it's Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

Oh, and I wasn't fond of popcorn balls, either. They were impossible to eat, messy, and left me with hulls stuck in my teeth. Or fruit. In my childhood, apples and raisins were still common intruders in my evening of candy collecting.

Growing up, I was allergic to chocolate so that pretty much narrowed down the options for me. My parents would sort through my candy and pull out anything that would make me sick and I'd get the rest.
I don't have a sweet tooth to this day and I think that's why even though now I can eat chocolate.

Growing up, I had the perfect neighborhood for trick or treating. Plus, we knew everyone. I also remember fondly going door to door collecting money for UNICEF. With the little orange milk cartons.
Anything chocolate was my favorite. I really liked the popcorn balls, usually home made back then. Did not like the little hard, sticky things wrapped in orange or black.

Milky Way was my favorite, but I also loved the Peppermint Patties, Mounds, and Almond Joys and could usually trade for more of those.
Least favorite - any hard candy, black licorice, circus peanuts, and those weird tasting chewy things that came wrapped in black or orange waxed paper. Haven't seen those in years.
Kids these days don't seem to want chocolate. It's all sour this and gummy that.

When I was a kid - the homemade popcorn ball. One lady in town made hundreds of them, and everyone went to her house! She was the best! can you imagine getting a homemade treat now? Other than from family?
Least favorite: Candy Corn. To this day, it is nasty.

Do they even make those anymore. Another favorite candy but I don't ever remember seeing them too much for Halloween is the Neeco candies. I still love them.

I used to love candy corn! But I think maybe that was before the rise of high fructose corn syrup? because the candy corn from those days was NOT the same as it is now. (If I were to eat candy corn now, I'd probably vomit it back up.) Back in the day, Reeses peanut butter cups were my other favorites. Mary Janes were my least favorite.

I loved most chocolate candy/bars, especially Reese's PB cups and Kit Kats. Except Butterfingers.
I did not like most hard candy, except Sweetarts which I loved. And my sister and cousins who we trick or treated with did not, so I always got theirs.

As a child we didn't have Reeses and Twix, which would have been my answer. So, we'd go for The mini Mr. Goodbars and Hershey bars. Those were the best.
My least favorite candy was candy corn. I'm sorry, folks.

I am not a Snicker fan so I always traded for Mounds, red licorice, Reese's or anything cinnamon flavored.

I only TorT'd a couple of years as I was 10 for my first US Halloween. I remember just being amazed at the variety - so many candies and chocolates I had never seen before.
Favourites? hard to say but anything chocolate...I did love Mallocups and Oh Henry. I do remember liking the Mary Janes (orange and black wrapped peanut bautter taffy) but no one else seemed to so I got theirs too.
Least favourites? Necco wafers for sure topped that list.
Our tradition when my kids were small was to make the hotdogs stuffed with cheese and wrapped with crescent roll dough for Halloween before taking them out. I usually ended up with the Mounds, Almond Joys, and Junior Mints from their hauls. And of course, any Mary Janes, lol.
Today? my kids are all adults but we still have the crescent wrapped hotdogs on Halloween but we've added a witches brew (orange sherbet punch) and a veggie tray arranged like a skeleton. We rarely get trick or treaters - we had a couple in 2022 but that was the only time - so any of my kids at home get to snack on our candy stash.

I love them so I keep my eye out whenever I’m in the candy section of a CVS or 7-11 or an actual candy store. And occasionally in Target. Online you can order them by color - they seem to be popular in the wedding industry for use at the candy bar since they come in so many beautiful colors.

Favorite - Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, no generic ones will do, and Mounds. Least favorite - WHOPPERS. Who came up with this? They are seriously the worst.

Halloween was just not a big deal to me as a kid because we lived in the country and the houses were so far apart, it was boring. Lots of driving, then jumping out to run to the houses, more riding around. And it was always SO COLD! I usually had to put a big coat on over my costume. Also, I was never a fan of chocolate, even as a kid. Just not my thing.
Worst: I hated and still hate licorice, no matter the color.
Best: I'm the weirdo who loved candy corn. Still do!

I can't remember what my favorite was. Maybe Snickers or Reeses. I loved the chews with the dry peanut butter on the inside. Loved bit o honey.
Three Musketeers were everyone in my family's least favorite.
We would also line up candy and trade.
