So I'm sitting here watching House Hunters International, and this episode has a woman looking for a house in Amsterdam. The American 'relocation specialist' who is helping her find a house was telling her that when she first moved to Amsterdam, she was craving pizza. She bought what looked like a margarita pizza, but when she started cooking it, smelled fishy. She said, with a look of pure disgust on her face, "It was a salmon pizza, that doesn't even exist in America!"
I refuse to believe that salmon pizza doesn't exist in the US. Tell me it's not true! I mean, anything you like can go on a pizza!
Following on from that, what are some of your favourite pizza toppings? Some of my favourites: Smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, red onion Lamb, pumpkin, goat cheese or feta, pine nuts Anything with anchovies..... lots and lots of anchovies so I get a bit in every mouthful
Last night we had pizza, and I ordered one of my favourites: Bacon, Cheese, Chicken, Chipotle Sauce, JalapeΓ±os on puff pastry. Yum!

I did a quick google search, and a lot of hits for smoked salmon pizza came up, so I guess it is eaten here in the US. I have never tried it. My all-time favorite is the dreaded pineapple and ham pizza. My other favorite toppings are sausage and mushrooms. And I like thick crust over thin. I like my pizza simple. π

My all-time favorite is the dreaded pineapple and ham pizza. Ha, I was actually going to ask whether people like pineapple on their pizza - it seems to be a very controversial thing! FWIW, I like pineapple on pizza. I like my pizzas to be a bit fancy, but every now and then I love a good Hawaiian with ham, cheese, and pineapple.

Id imagine that at a boutique type place, you could get all sorts of toppings you wouldnt find at a regular pizza place. Ive never seen salmon, but I also intensely dislike salmon, so Id just pass it by.
I do like pineapple on pizza and I think it is wild that people think that is "controversial" and want to argue about it.
I think plain pepperoni pizza is a waste of time, but Im not going to argue with anyone about it.

I have seen plenty of unique things on pizzas online and occasionally when traveling, but here at home, I don't know of anyone offering salmon on pizza.

I've never heard of salmon on pizza! My recent fave has figs, prosciutto, hot honey, and fresh arugula on top after it's baked.

The closest thing Iβve had to salmon on pizza is cream cheese, red onion, sliced lox style salmon and capers on pitta bread and that was all cut up in triangle pizza style slices. But it was served cold. I love salmon and cream cheese but I donβt know that Iβd want it on American style pizza crust.

I donβt ever remember seeing a smoked salmon pizza around here, but living in the tri-state area (NY, NJ and CT), you seldom see anything too crazy beyond a pizza with standard toppings, unless youβre at a specialty restaurant. Pineapple pizzas are suspect at best and anathema at worst. For red pies, we typically order a bacon, onion and spinach. For white pies, we like clam with bacon, onion and spinach. I love olives on pizza, but DH doesnβt so I usually forgo them. Also, it is a law that the crust must be chewy and have body. No crispy crusts like crackers that lacerate the inside of your mouth.

I have never heard of salmon or pretty much all the things you listed on pizza.
I'm in Canada. I'd say unless you go to a fancy restaurant all the pizza places have the same basic ingredients, ham, pineapple, salami, pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives. Sometimes ground beef, shrimp, basil, chicken. Sometimes a bbq or cream sauce instead of tomato sauce.

Up until 2 weeks ago I would have said that I too have never heard of salmon on pizza. But I did just have it in Alaska, and it was amazing.
I typically like my pizza with various meats and mild banana peppers, but I have to create this at home. When out I like Hawaiian Pizza or sausage and mushrooms.

Never had salmon on pizza but I'm sure I've been in places in the US where it could be obtained. Definitely saw it on the menu in Scandinavian countries when traveling.
I remember back when our kids were little and we had European au pairs that were surprised corn wasn't a standard pizza topping here (US). The au pairs (especially the ones from Germany) always wanted corn on their pizza.

Any kind of fish on a pizza doesn't sound appealing to me. I'm not a big seafood person in general, so there's that.
Pepperoni and pineapple is my go-to. I like to drizzle Mike's hot honey on top. So good!

Smoked salmon is very prevalent in the Seattle area but I have only seen it on a pizza menu a few times and Iβve never known anyone to order it.

I will pass on that.
When we have pizza, I order sausage, mushroom and green peppers on ours--on a thin crust.
I don't care for pepperoni as it is much to greasy for me.

Salmon is definitely not available at an average pizza shop in my area. Most common is a red sauce with mozzarella cheese. Meat toppings: Pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, bacon, chicken. Veggies: Peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, olives.

I have never seen a salmon pizza near me. Or pumpkin on a pizza. I like the basic ingredients: sausage, pepperoni, green pepper, mushroom, onions. A newish flavor of pizza by me is Dill Pickle. It has a white garlic sauce, dill pickles and mozzarella cheese. I would love to try it but DH doesnβt like pickles so I have to find someone else who wants to try.

Iβve never noticed it on a menu at a pizza place but I googled and found a place less than 2 miles from me that has salmon pizza on their menu.
My go to is a regular slice or a slice of white pizza. Iβll get a buffalo chicken pizza every know and then.

No thank you. I do not like fish on my pizza. Frankly, this is an assumption. Not one Iβm willing to test though.
I like my pizza crust paper thin. As thin and slightly crispy as possible. Cheese is fine as the only topping. The more, the better. Not real particular about what kind of cheese.

pumpkin is definitely an oz/nz item.. it is not savory here.. usually just a sweet. and we don't use squash either.
I like pineapple, red onion and ham. dh gets it so I steal one or two bites. it is not really something I eat anymore.
never have seen salmon on pizza, but wouldn't surprise me.

I'm sure it exists somewhere but it's definitely not something you find at the typical chain pizza places. I've never heard of it here in California.

I was in London in 1974. We were trying to decide where to eat and someone must have noticed looking and acting like tourists and pointed out a pizza place and told it was really good. We decided to take him up on his suggestion. Looking at the menu, we were in awe that they put ham and chicking on PIZZA! Back then it seemed like pizza ingredients were pepperoni, sausage, cheese, onion, black olives, bell pepper and maybe one or two that I can think of at the moment and only red sauce.
A few years after that, restaurants were attempting to grow business by offering different toppings.
We have a MOD pizza place here and they have a build your own pizza. They have 4 crust offerings, 7 sauces, 8 cheeses, 10 meats, 21 vegetables and 8 finishing sauces to choose from.

Here in Canada, pizza is pretty boring unless you go to a high end place ... even there I doubt you would see pumpkin ... smoked salmon maybe but I like mine cold so that wouldn't work. My go to from the local pub is a veggie with mushroom, tomato, onion and roasted garlic ... yum!

Pizza- all the meats, none of the veggies, all the cheeses. Pesto or red or white sauce.
I donβt mind pineapple on my ham pizza but I pick off and eat all the pineapple first because I love it. Then I eat the ham and cheese pizza.
Salmon does not belong on pizza in my world.
I did enjoy a grilled garlic shrimp pizza at CPK when we used to go there.

The nearest I've come to salmon on a pizza is in our lovely local wine bar where they serve tarte flambe which is super thin crispy dough with onions, cheese or creme fraiche and smoked salmon or bacon on top, no tomato/passata. Commonly we'd have 'meat feast' which can be a mix of pepperoni, spicy sausage, ham, spicy beef etc, Hawaiian with ham and pineapple (yum!) spicy chicken etc. I also love prosciutto, pesto and mozzarella, vegetables ones with mushrooms, chargrilled veg etc. So many lovely options these days I did just look on my 'posh' local supermarket website and they do one with prawns but I've never had it.

That sounds a lot like what we call 'flammkuchen' here - I believe it originated in the Alsace region on the French-German border. Salmon on pizza isn't common here in Germany, but one topping combo that is nearly everywhere (and available on frozen pizzas) is 'tonno e cipolo' or tuna and onion. Regular pizza sauce, tinned tuna and red onions. I was skeptical at first, but it is now one of my favourites. The au pairs (especially the ones from Germany) always wanted corn on their pizza. Corn on/in things is reasonably common on Germany, but I haven't seen it on the pizza menus of either of the places near us. AussieMeg - one thing I miss here is the variety of pizza toppings, especially at 'specialty' pizza places in Australia. I mean, we can't even get a decent BBQ chicken pizza here!

Iβve never seen/heard of pizza with salmon. Some places have shrimp but Iβve never tried it on a pizza. (I just educated myself about shrimp and prawns, which I always thought were the same things, just different names!) We have pretty basic pizza places around here.
Iβm a huge fan of pineapple and bacon on pizza. My family likes pineapple and ham but I much prefer bacon. I love buffalo chicken pizza and recently had chicken kabob pizza that had Greek seasoned chicken, feta, onions, sliced tomatoes and mozzarella. It was absolutely delicious!
