Does the ice cream truck, still come around your neighborhood?
I hadn't seen or heard one in forever, until today....when I saw one today. at the gas station. Reminds me of childhood. when it was a daily occurrence. Boy, the prices have gone up! LOL!!
Thinking back, my Grandparents and Mom were generous with the daily ice cream truck money, in my youth. But, I recall one crotchety old Aunt, always trying suck the fun out it with her "aren't there popsicles and a big bucket of ice cream in the freezer"?? Aargh!!,it's not the same!!.... as those little sundae cups, an Italian ice, an orange creamsicle, that ice cream that had a gumball at the bottom of it, or all the other "fancy" ice creams that were available . LOL!!
My favorite was the Italian ice. What was your ice cream truck favorite?

No truck here. I used to get the nutty buddies when I was little.

Sometimes I see one. Or hear one. I am kind of boring. I like ice cream sandwiches. Nothing too fancy for me.

We have an ice cream truck that comes daily in the summer - he even came today! My son loves strawberry shortcake bars, I loved chocolate eclair bars as a child and still like them today.

We didn't have an ice cream truck in podunk WV, but my Grandpa had a houseboat we would spend most of the summer on and at the marina they sold all of those types of ice creams. My favorite looked like Mickey Mouse. The face was vanilla ice cream, the ears were chocolate ice cream and were also dipped in chocolate. I haven't thought about that in years and years. Thanks for the memory!!

Yep. We see one in our neighbourhood weekly in the summer. My work even arranges one to come to the office on Wednesdays and we all get free ice cream
I love summer.

My DH, who is 50+ and diabetic, will go running out of the house and down to the curb at the first hint that the ice cream truck is around. Seriously! He just loves the memories of getting ice cream when he was a child. He will gladly buy for almost everyone who shows up when he does, just so the truck will come back. The funny thing is, he only eats a bite or two of whatever he buys; being diabetic, he just can't handle the sugar.
To him, it's all about the memories.

In NZ we get Mr Whippy ice cream trucks.....it was an occasional treat for us as kids.
When ever I see a Mr Whippy truck now, it is only at A&P shows, Easter shows etc (shows that pop up for a weekend only)

I hear them a few times a week. I always got an ice cream sandwich. Whenever I hear one the ice cream man I think about the pea who shared the story about how her parents told her that he only played music when they were out of ice cream, and it makes me laugh, every. single. time.

We haven't had a truck in our neighborhood for several years now. My favorite was always the Toasted Almond bars.

It's pretty hit and miss, but since the drive by so quickly it really doesn't matter My favorite is the strawberry shortcake bar.

Yup... at least once a week. He will purposely pause in front of our home because he knows we have kids. We were buying every other week for a while but since we've cut back on sweets a lot we rarely buy. He still does a long pause in front of our house though.

Our's is hit or miss as well. Haven't seen it much this summer. We usually buy something like Drumsticks. DH likes the giant otter pop type things.

Daily but we only get stuff once or twice each summer - banana splits for the kids, a soft serve for DH. We also have a tinker who drives through once a week ringing his bell.

I haven't seen one in about two years. I always kept change in the garage so the kids could get to it easily and I wouldn't have to dig around for money. I love the ones that have the gumballs for eyes. My kids liked the sour ones. Good times. I hope one comes through soon.

Yes and it is annoying as hell. All you hear for a couple hours (it feels like it anyway) is the damn annoying music as it circles the surrounding neighborhoods.

LOL! I'm so old that the ice cream truck wasn't even a truck. It was a bike with a freezer that was ridden through our neighborhood.
Occasionally, an ice cream truck will drive through our neighborhood, but not very often.

When we lived in Delaware one would come to our neighborhood sporadically during the summers. This was 4 years ago.

Yes, we still have them. They come through the neighborhood almost daily. They have gotten kind of sketchy over the last couple of years. They are not the cute ice cream trucks from years ago, usually someone with an old bread truck or van.

I think the one that comes around our house is selling something other than ice cream. It's just an odd truck. It doesn't come around much in the Summer . But it comes by every night in the winter. It's the strangest thing.

We live on a long cul-de-sec with lots of kids. We have 3 trucks that come by two and sometimes 3 times per day. They play annoying out of season tunes like "In your Easter Bonnet" or "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". Drives me crazy as sometimes one will barely turn the corner off our street & another one comes in. We also have 2 push cart vendors wandering through selling Mexican ice cream treats. Their jingling bells just add to the cacophony. It is such a relief when school starts and the noise level subsides.

I was sitting on the porch yesterday when one came by. He was going pretty fast. Maybe he knows there aren't many kids on my street or a man like Marcy's husband!!

We have one that will come around out neighborhood a couple times a week. I haven't purchased anything from them yet. DD just asked if we could buy something when the ice cram man comes next time. I guess I'll be finding out how much those ice creams are now! As a kid, I only recall my dad buying me something once. I don't remember what it was, just that it was a special treat. I recall wanting one of those red, white, and blue rocket pops. It's a happy memory.

We have one that comes about every other day. If DH grits ice cream he usually buys for any of the kids that are out too. I just wish ours would stop with the christmas music, that drives me nuts.

We have one come by every night around dinner time. When I was a kid we had a ding dong cart which my favorite was a circus ?? It was sherbet on top of this plastic shape which you didn't know what it was til you finished. When I was younger we also had mr. Softee which was soft serve.
Funny how they could be a block away and you hear just a bit music (each had different one) and you would send one sibling out to stop the truck while the other hounded mom for money. Ahh great memories.

It used to come around a couple times a week in my old neighborhood but I haven't seen it since I moved. When I was a kid our favorite treat was called a Doozy Bar so we always called the ice cream man the Doozy Bar Man!

Yes, we still have one come in the summer. We haven't run out for it since the kids were little. I always wanted the chocolate eclair bar. I know it is in the supermarket, but I would never buy it just for me.

We have one...it's the old creepy van kind. It comes after 8:30, so I usually don't go check what they have and it's usually too late for my niece to eat ice-cream. Our truck when I was young had these ice-cream sandwiches that were oatmeal cookies on the outside, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice-cream inside and dipped in chocolate. Those were the best.

We still have the ice cream truck come around the neighbourhood. Last weekend my husband went and stood at the end of the driveway because he wanted a drumstick! I wish I had taken a picture . My kids are grown now but I used to let them buy from the truck on the weekends. It was overpriced then, wonder what it's like now!!!
