Hi everyone! I'm still feeling pretty crappy because I have various infection throughout my body ... awesome. The antibiotics should be kicking in soon though ... I also have a bunch of other topical meds to use so my illnesses should be taken care of within a week! Today will be a day of playing on the computer, watching TV and reading ... I don't have the energy to do more than that and I'm still in pain ... This is what I posted on Facebook today ... it is fitting: Dinner will be whatever I can scrounge up ... not much appetite so it could be a crumpet with peanut butter ... yum! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

I am still feeling a bit under the weather from a heavy cold that set in on Thursday - probably not helped by being outside in the cold and mist for Trick or Treat. I was feeling a lot better yesterday afternoon, enough to feel OK to go out for dinner, but when I woke up this morning, I was so bad that DH suggested that I not go to church and I agreed - we have a lot of little ones and many elderly (including our priest) in our community. I have pretty much spent the whole day on the sofa knitting and watching knitting videos. DH headed to the airport after lunch to fly to Barcelona for a conference, but the horrible weather Spain has had this week hit Barca today and so he was delayed nearly 2 hours. I hope all will be fine for him to get home on Thursday.
Dinner tonight is rechauffe from last night. We had dips and pita, then ordered the meat platter for two, knowing it would be too much food, so I have most of a pork kebab, a lamb burger and a pile of gyros meat, as well as tomato rice, tzatziki and aubergine dip to eat. I probably won’t eat it all tonight either!

That's a fitting meme for you right now leannec. Hopefully you feel better soon. I was up at 4 today 🙄🙄. I feel exhausted. I haven't slept well in like 5 days now and that's hard on my mood. I wish I could nap. I'm just about to make some lunch. I don't have a clue about dinner. Jeremy's off golfing and I have a crochet hook in my hands. Might put some Friends just because.

leannec as someone who gets sick a lot I love the idea of crumpets to eat. I love them with Bonne Mamman jam myself. Just really take it easy. I was that sick once and it was rough. Playing on the computer in bed sounds perfect.

Happy Sunday!
Today is all about football! Hopefully, my Seahawks will do well but they haven't been looking good lately.
I'm off to brunch at our local Tex-Mex place and I am getting ready to put dinner in the crockpot. I'm making beef tips with beer over noodles and we'll eat after the game.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning. leannec . Today your job is to do all that you can to make yourself comfortable. Grab your blankies, your pillow and your Nextflix and feel much much better. What did the doctor say about your foot? Gentle ((((HUGS)))). teddyw , how is your dd2? Is she resting at home? What a scary moment for all of you. Mama and baby need some rest and extra love today. ((((HUGS)))). Ya'll have been so kind to me. I do feel better since the edge is off of the headache. It's lightly there and I was up w/it last night, but it's much more tolerable. jeremysgirl , Relaxing w/some crochet and Friends sounds like a great idea. I hope you feel much better by tmw.
I'm pretty tired from being up for several hours last night. I'll knit and wish I was sueg and could knit so beautifully. Speaking of our friend, sueg , I hope that your cold will subside and that you feel much better by tmw. Dinner is Chinese noodle soup w/fresh broth. Take good, loving care of yourselves, tribe and have a relaxing day. AussieMeg , wishing you an easy day at work and a nice night.

Hi all,
Just popping in to say I hope everyone is on the mend soon from all our various ailments. Even though I haven't been posting I care about my tribe (are we supposed to use that word still? Anyway, my peeps! Sending good love and healing thoughts).
I am grading today, trying to get caught up and distract myself from election stuff. My anxiety is over the top. We've done all we can do on our end so I just hope things work out.
Dinner is pot roast with carrots, onions over mashed potatoes. I may bake some this afternoon.
We have a friend coming to spend Tuesday night with us. He is bring a favorite pizza from Indy up with him. It was always my (superstitious) tradition to have Donatos pizza and a cherry dessert to watch the returns, but we don't have that chain here. I miss it! So he will bring it with him. We will have chili (cream cheese, melted cheese) dip, queso, tortilla chips, and a veggies tray. I may make chocolate chunks cookies and cherry pie bars. It won't all be for Tues, but I suspect my pal Bob and I will be up stress eating til very late.
We went to my favorite cake decorating g supply place yesterday and I did some major damage. I can't wait to play with my fun stuff!
Feel better soon, everyone!

leannec , may your meds do their job in a hurry.
tmarschall, we are indeed a tribe. We were named by our dearly missed desertgirl. Your baked goods sound scrumptious, as usual. Do you ever enter baking contests?

DH and I decided to head to a lake about 10 minutes from us just up the hill. There were lots of swans, ducks, geese, etc. It was a lovely, brisk walk. Don't know if I've ever mentioned it but I have vivid, wild dreams almost every night. Last night I was awakened by a voice yelling *the last person into the bonus room is in trouble!* I jumped out of bed, ran to the bonus room and realized no one was there. THEN I realized it had been a dream. Dinner will be Jalapeno Chicken Poppers. Big hugs to everyone who is sick and/or in need of hugs.

scrapmaven my dd is just sore today. Otherwise fine. She’s sees her OB tomorrow thanks for asking. The 3 yo’s parents don’t get home until after bedtime. My sil always books the last day of trips to take the last flight home. My dd hates this because she still has to prep for the eork week. You know laundry, groceries, chores… stuff he doesn’t do. We are the complete opposite. First flight out so no chance of delay and we can recoup for the week. Luke is ready for his mama and done with us lol. Dinner is up in the air I didn’t plan ahead. Possibly eggs with veggies. Your lake looks so pretty cadoodlebug.

Every once in a while I'll scream at someone in my dream and wake both dh and myself up. One time I dreamed that dh was cheating on w/me some unknown person. He was being a real jerk to me in the dream. So, I woke up screamed "PIG" at him and slapped him in the arm. For the next week he kept telling me that he was going to wear a football uniform to bed. Dh couldn't have been cheating IRL, cause he telecommuted and we spent every waking hour together in the house.

I've won ribbons at the state fair for pies, cakes and cupcakes, and once I entered something at a fall festival (didn't win). I'm not really competitive, although now living in a different part of the state I do think about entering some things in the county fairs up here. They all have different rules/procedures (yes or no to cream pies/cream cheese frosting, enter the day of, enter in advance) and they all hit around the same time as school is starting for me. Every year I think this is the year but nope it was not, lol.
I also did the Bake magazine competition during the pandemic, but that's really just about online voting and raising funds...that year it was for No Kid Hungry I think. I made it to the quarter finals before I got knocked out.

My sil always books the last day of trips to take the last flight home. My dd hates this because she still has to prep for the eork week. OMG, this is DH and it drives me nuts that he also books out of LAX which adds another hour to drive home. Usually it is so late/early morning hours so traffic is reasonable but he might get home at 2am and head out to work at 5. It is always cheaper which is his main criteria. I'm all about time of day, direct flight only, etc. Glad you have diagnoses and a treatment plan, leannec. Sorry you aren't feeling well, sueg. The rechauffe sounds lovely. tmarschall, your election night dinner plans sound great, too. DS was asking if we were having pizza. I was enjoying hanging with my peeps and now they've all dispersed (one for brunch, one to donate plasma and one to a meeting) for a while so I'll tune into the Ali Edwards Daily December Prep class for a while. I hate using earbuds while watching/listening so prefer to do it when no one is home and then I can also half listen to whatever football game is on. We will have roasted chicken thighs and drumsticks along with potatoes, carrots, green beans and broccoli for dinner. Just need to decide on the seasoning, but feeling like it will be Herbes de Provence and olive oil with Balsamic glaze to finish.

I will be making quiche with bacon and caramelized onions today (at whatever point I feel like it, but just had breakfast). Normally I order pizza on election night, but I just had pizza last week so maybe I’ll make something my sister loves instead. She’ll be here biting her nails. Chili rice or chicken spaghetti or Italian beef. leannec, I missed yesterday’s thread but I’m sorry you have so many things going haywire inside you. Hope you’re feeling better soon. teddyw, eeeek for your DD. Glad it wasn’t worse. Hoping everyone who’s under the weather starts feeling better fast. bc2ca, your chicken dinner sounds easy and delish. I need to copycat your recipe.

dinner is I don't know.. probably takeout.
beautiful day. we are going to a block gathering in someone's driveway at 2. (our driveways are steep slopes.. 10-15 ft long.). I really need to go clean in the basement. I was lazy yesterday. I woke at 5 am.. oh well.
we did get to sing a fav choir piece for church this morning. No nobis domine. one friend in church who is a retired pastor and is 89, expressed his profound fear about the election, the future and the division. it was something we were all confronting outloud.

The kids are coming for dinner and someone is cooking salmon. I am having kebabs. I just made a mix berry crisp/crumble and I don’t eat it but I did make 1.25x the recipe for topping and my mom used to do that, too. The kids will obviously take dessert home with them. They can have it for breakfast tomorrow.
I have gotten out of going to the store but could go tomorrow. I will work on it. I break out into a sweat while I am in the store and I don’t want that. I just showered and am clean. I don’t know why it makes me feel that way.

We had family pictures last night. I can't wait to see them.
Dinner will be rechauffe from our dinner out last night.

A crumpet with peanut butter (or Vegemite) is always good when you don't have much of an appetite. I hope you start feeling better soon leannec . sueg I hope you get over your cold quickly too. Even though I haven't been posting I care about my tribe (are we supposed to use that word still? Anyway, my peeps! Actually, I think the correct word for here is Peaps. Whatever the word, it's nice to see you. Enjoy your new toys, and please share a photo of what you make with them. Gorgeous photo cadoodlebug , so much blue! I am laughing about your dream and consequent sleep walk run to the bonus room - hilarious! My sil always books the last day of trips to take the last flight home. My dd hates this because she still has to prep for the eork week.... We are the complete opposite. First flight out so no chance of delay and we can recoup for the week. I'm with your SIL on this one. We always take a late flight home, to make the most of wherever we're staying. Luckily for us, flights out of SE Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore etc) are always around 9:30pm, so we can still have almost a full day. Paying for a night's accomodation when you're leaving first thing feels like a waste of money to me. Unless it's a work trip of course, then get me on that first flight home! Interstate flights I like to leave by about 4pm-6pm, so we can get back to Melbourne then drive home at a reasonable hour.

I babysat this afternoon for a few hours while DS and DDIL were working. The grandboys are grounded from their electronics and they had difficulty finding something else to amuse themselves. I suggest reading a book so they quickly got out Lego.
DH took the oldest out into the bush hunting squirrels. They didn’t see even one!
Supper is rechauffe chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and beans.

When we went out for Greek on Saturday night, I had warned DSO that the saganki was $19 for one piece, so we wouldn't be ordering it. I had two slices of Kefalograviera in the fridge at home, and I would make it for him on Sunday instead.
I asked DSO what he wanted for dinner, and he suggested pork belly. I foolishly decided to make our favourite Red Spice Road copycat recipe, even knowing that it usually takes a minimum of six hours (making the master stock, cooking the pork in the master stock for around 4 hours, cooling the pork, then cutting it up and frying it). I got back from the supermarket at about 2pm and got started. I also made a mac & cheese for DS. I finally gave up on the pork belly at 7pm, and we all just had mac & cheese. I will take the pork belly to MIL's for dinner tonight, and finish cooking it there.
Oh, and yes, we had the saganaki at around 4pm - late lunch? Early appetiser?
Side note: Why oh WHY does my MacBook always autocorrect the mac in mac & cheese to Mac with an uppercase M? It's so annoying!

taylortroop, not the dreaded electronics timeout? That was our normal punishment. They both grew up just fine and learned to respect boundaries, mom and dad. It was hard on us, too, because we're all gamers.

The time change always messes with my appetite as well as my sleep, both spring and fall. In addition, we had a very busy weekend and so a lot of the mealtimes were already off. We went to an anniversary party yesterday and ate sort of late afternoon-ish, then just had a very small (takeout) dinner.
Today, DS & I had a big late lunch and DH has been snacking off and on all day...consequently none of us are really hungry for dinner. Anyway, we have plenty of rechauffe to choose from in the event someone is hungry before bedtime...which will definitely be early tonight! I'm wiped out, both from the time change and anxiety/stress about the election and its aftermath.
Get well soon to the peas who are under the weather!
