Upon further reflection, it seems to me that Kelce couldn't win in this case. The young man with the phone was clearly trying to film some attempt at "owning the libs" and make both Kelce brothers out to be weak. So a certain segment of the country was going to har har at weak Jason and Travis Kelce if that played out.
But if Jason turned and gave the kid what he deserved, then that same segment of the population is going to be mad and say he should have more self control.
Can't win.

I am a BIG fan of both Jason and Travis. Even though I don't love Jason's actions, I 100% support his defending his brother and Taylor. This punk ass kid was taunting Jason and he got exactly what he deserved. I am happy that ESPN is not punishing Jason, but I am sure they are talking to him behind the scenes. I agree that it is probably time for Jason to travel with more security and not make himself so vulnerable in public.

I totally get Kelce getting angry with that ADULT.. not young man, not kid. He is an adult. If he had committed murder, he would be considered an adult. Not a young man or a kid. Anyways, he pushed Kelce and also the expletive language. How long did this go on for? I mean, enough is enough at some point. If this person was following him and not leaving him alone for a long period of time, he's lucky that is all Kelce did. Even if it was just a quick moment..maybe Kelce got angry to fast? But yeah, this adult was put in his place and I don't blame Kelce for it. I did hear that Kelce said some expletive language back to him and I don't condone that. I believe the push happened after the first altercation, as the guy was trying to get the phone back. When it happened, I think Kelce psuhed him back and replied "whose the F**** now." I did see the 2nd video, I just can't remember.

Kelce needs to learn some self control. The kid was baiting him but trashing the kid’s phone wasn’t the way to handle the situation. If he wants to keep his job with ESPN he needs to learn to control his temper, he’s not on a football field anymore. That kid also needs to learn self control. What kind of person says those kinds of things to another human out loud? Jason Kelce. Additional video has come out showing him turning to the kid and saying “now who’s the ****”.

I did see the 2nd video, I just can't remember. The video I saw there was clearly a push in the back as Jason walked away. After he got up he turned around and swiped the phone and made the comment to the “kid”. ETA: I can’t find the original video I watched. When I went looking for it it appears the Kelce may have been pushed after he walked away with the phone and the “kid” continued to follow him. So the first video I saw may have stitched the two incidents together out of order. I could only find one article with the entire series of events and it indicates the push happened after the phone swiping.

Team Kelce all the way on this. If the kid would have just made the comment and done nothing else, I would say Kelce overreacted. Since the kid was being an ass, a broken phone is a lesson learned.

Jason Kelce. Additional video has come out showing him turning to the kid and saying “now who’s the ****”. Get back to us when he follows and taunts the kid multiple times while filming it. This is a toughie for me because I was a big fan of Jason's prior so I am/was definitely Team Kelce. However, most of the LGBTQ+ community is not giving Jason a pass on using it not once, not twice but 3 times. So now I am not sure I can be team Kelce knowing that those impacted the most by the word is not okay with Jason in this situation.

This was the video of the push which occurred after Kelce spiked the phone. The kid was completely antagonizing. i think he used great restraint esp after the kid pushed him. I wonder if he’s a member of the PSU Hockey team or just wearing a sweatshirt. www.tiktok.com/t/ZTFv2JYdk/

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him give the kid what he deserved, but my rational brain says, "Is this really what we're doing now?" A professional athlete cannot ignore a pencil-necked moron because of name-calling, even f----t. He was not physically harmed and THAT guy is not any threat to him. A physical response was wrong...fun to watch, but wrong.

Neither gets a pass from me. A college-aged person is old enough to know not to use that slur. He was intentionally trying to get a rise out of Jason Kelce. He was being an ass.
Jason did not act appropriately himself. And I think he used the same damn word! I get that he was angry, but he lost control. And in my opinion, I think he has a drinking problem. How many times have we seen him beyond intoxicated in public? I hope I'm wrong because I like him. But my God, the man has been sloppy drunk in public too many times.

While I wouldn’t say it myself, I don’t see him repeating the guys language back to him as being the same as saying it in the first place. Just based on this incident I don’t have enough info to say if saying that word is common for him or if he only said it to say it back to that guy.

I’m ok with it. That kid was a jerk, and he got a consequence. He figured that nothing would happen to him because he was filming, and he was wrong.

This was his statement: “I think everybody’s seen on social media everything that took place this week. Listen, I’m not — I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it and, you know, in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that that’s a productive thing. I really don’t.
I don’t think that, you know, it leads to discourse and it’s — and it’s the right way to go about things. And in that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. So I think the bottom line is: I want to live my life — I try to live my life by the golden rule. That’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and I’m going to keep doing that moving forward even though this past — even though I fell short this week, I’m going to do that moving forward and continue to do that. So, yeah, I think we got a game to focus on. Obviously, the matchup, I don’t think this is the platform to necessarily go into more detail, so. So, let’s get ready for this Chiefs game.”
I thought it was a good statement. I would LOVE to see the kid's statement. There is no way, IMO that he could spin it to be positive, at all. And I haven't looked, but I am sure he will be identified soon, and he will be facing the consequences of his actions in ways he wont ever imagine.

That is the best non-apology apology. I would be behind him 100% if he didn't use the slur against the college guy. But he showed remarkable restraint while he was being taunted but going against his brother crossed the line and I know a lot of people who would have had a strong reaction to someone shit talking people they love.

And as a know it all, you really need to arm yourself with knowledge.

I think, instead of all of us judging Jason's reactions, we should be pointing out the rude behavior of the young man and putting the blame squarely on HIS shoulders. When did we start putting the blame on "stars" who have normal reactions to instigators? When did we start putting them on pedestals and insisting they be perfect at all times?
If the young man had been doing that to someone not famous - what do you think would have happened? He probably would have gotten his ass kicked and some teeth knocked loose. Because we now expect "stars" to be perfect - we are making them easy targets for the unhinged stupid people we have in this country. The ones who feel they can say anything they want and do anything they want without repercussions. And then be able to sue the "star" because they somehow got hurt and public opinion agrees!
I was disappointed that Jason felt he had to apologize to everyone before MNF. It shows me that today, if someone is trying to start a fight with you, you have no right to defend yourself. We are letting the bullies of the world win. I would have stood up and clapped if Jason had simply said "he got what he deserved."

I find it incredibly sad that a young person would even use the word. Not that anyone at any age should use hate speech. But I feel like younger people have more acceptance, so find it really troubling. Racism, sexism, homophobia, no wonder we have politicians running on such hatefulness.
