Good morning.
Today will be low key. Later I have my voice lesson. The headache is there, but so much better.
What is everyone up to today?
Dinner will be rechauffe Chinese noodle soup for dh.
leannec, how are you feeling today? I'm thinking of you and hoping that that antibiotics are working well.
What's everyone up to this week? I'll be catching up on everything I missed over the past week. At some point we're planning a mall trip. Apart from that, it'll hopefully be a normal, calm week.
May this week bring all of the good stuff for everyone. Be happy and fulfilled, my lovelies.

Happy Monday!
I'm busy with reporting today as I'm off tomorrow. We get a day off for voting but since I voted last week while DS was here, I went ahead and took the day tomorrow.
Dinner tonight will be rechauffe beef tips and noodles. My parents didn't come over to watch the game yesterday so I've got lots of leftovers.
Hope you all have a great day!

Tearisci, have fun tmw. You get an entire day off for voting? That's a pretty good perk. I vote by mail. Then I just get even more annoyed w/political flyers.

Good evening I am still fighting the cold that attacked me on the weekend, and so far the cold is winning! I was meant to meet up with a friend this afternoon but had to cancel, as I just didn’t want to leave the house, quite apart from not wanting to infect my friend and a train full of people getting there and back. So I’ve been rugged up warm drinking lemon ginger tea and knitting. If I still feel horrible tomorrow, I’ll call my GP to see what she recommends.
DH finally made it to Barcelona 2 hours late last night, but at least he’s there. He said this morning he was in a conference hall, about 5,000 people, and an emergency alert for heavy rain came through. Now these alerts are sent out through the phone towers, so every phone within range gets them, and they override any silent/do not disturb settings as well - you can imagine the commotion.
Dinner tonight is cottage pie. I’ve cooked the meat and vegetables, and just need to do the mashed potatoes for the topping. I will probably cheat and use a packet mix.

sueg, I hope that w/home rest today you'll feel much better by tmw. Such chaos must have been quite stressful for all of those people. I hope that all is well for everyone.

We get 8 hours to use toward voting but I voted when I was off last week when DS was here. I figure if we have it, I'm going to use it and take a day off!

Today will start with AquaFit then this afternoon I have Creative Crafters where we'll be making small Douglas Fir wooden blocks holiday décor. I hope mine turn out as cute as the host's picture! We might have gumbo for dinner. Fall turned into winter way too fast!

The headache is there, but so much better. Well I'm glad you are feeling better, however, it's annoying it's still persisting a bit. At some point we're planning a mall trip. Apart from that, it'll hopefully be a normal, calm week. I'm hoping my week is too. We get a day off for voting Me too. I'm taking a four hour shift tomorrow driving people to the polls. I'm going out to a suburb and it will probably most likely be elderly people. Our city bus system lets people ride for free so they shouldn't need me inside the city. In the morning I will go for blood work and then vote myself. I should be back home by 2 pm tomorrow so I'll have the rest of the day to myself. I don't know what's for dinner. My only meeting today was cancelled. Things have slowed right down for me. I like that so much prior to the holidays. I'm going to do a quick run to the library. I've got a bunch of books to drop off and only one (a cookbook to pick up). I have some books I bought at the bookstore right now to read. I just hit this weekend 44 books which was what I read last year. I don't set goals so it doesn't really matter at all. But I thought it was kind of nice I exceeded last year.

I forgot to add that we are supposed to get big storms and possibly tornados today. Being this far south, we'll probably just get some good thunderstorms and Oklahoma and way North Texas will face a bigger threat of tornados.
I'm hunkering down on the couch with my dog and will enjoy the weather from inside as I don't have any place i need to go today/tonight.

Good morning! Today I'm home trying to get things back on track around the house after my escape to the Quilt Festival. It was a good year with lots of shopping, good classes and great quilts to enjoy. Best of all was meeting up with austnscrapaddict on Thursday! It was like we'd known each other forever and she is just the sweetest thing! We are definitely going to have to plan another meetup in the not too distant future! This morning I am waiting on the a/c repairman. I already had my fall service call scheduled for today and then on Saturday during a storm it seems our fan motor shorted out, so no a/c since Sat. evening. They should be able to repair that while they are here. Not sure what dinner will be tonight. There are some leftovers in the fridge if nothing else. He was moved Friday night. That was a fiasco. They just sent a regular van to transport him at 5:30 pm when he needs an ambulance for a stretcher. By the time they got one and transferred him the 15 miles it was after 11 pm when he got in his room. So far the nursing staff is subpar in my books, but the PT seems good. We are willing to give them this week to get it together but my hopes are not high. May end up bringing him home and doing home health care, which we were really trying to avoid. The kicker is that this is one of the higher rated SNF in town! I'd hate to see the lower rated ones. Just feeling really down right now about ever getting him back on his feet so would appreciate any positive thoughts and prayers on what seems to be a never ending journey. In honor of our election tomorrow, I want to share one of my favorite quilts that was on display last week. There will be a quilt thread, just running a bit behind on that. Working on packing for vacation tomorrow, going to enjoy a few days in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg to see the Christmas lights and then spending the weekend in Kentucky having Thanksgiving with my mom's side of the family.

Today was my monthly chair ballet. It's so ridiculous, mostly no exercise at all, yet for whatever reason I love going to this low-stakes activity. DH and I joined a local gym; now all I have to do is get myself over to it.
Yesterday I made vegetarian chili and froze the leftovers. Tonight is leftover pasta and chickpea meatballs.
Only one more day of political commercials. Yay!!!!!

Glad your headache is better scrapmaven , but with it was nonexistent. sueg staying home and being cozy while knitting sounds wonderful, sorry it's because you still have that darn cold. Cancel cancel Tearisci we have had enough tornadoes over the weekend up here. The sirens went off Saturday at 4am till almost 530am. No more I'm done! Normal workday here for me. I'm making chicken Verde enchiladas for dinner with Mexican rice and elote corn.

Y'all!! I've missed you. It's been a whirlwind weekend. I had some things to do Friday, Saturday was spent birthday celebrating with our ODS, and Sunday was shower day for YDS' bride to be. AND I spent Saturday night, 7pm to Sunday 3PM with my mother. When I say I didn't understand the no contact thing with moms, I do now. My the time I went to bed Saturday night I was almost in tears. I tried several times to converse, add something to the conversation and there was complete shutdown as she interrupted and went on with another rabbit trail of a story. Then Sunday morning just before leaving the house for the shower, she wanted to bring up the election and who she hoped would win. I said mother, all I will say is DH and I do NOT discuss politics in this house for our own very good reasons. However, if you vote for that person, you are voting against your granddaughters, your medicare and your social security. She just looked at me. "So, let's just let it go." Well, if Harris wins, she will be as terrible Pres as she was a VP. I just lost it. I told her in no uncertain terms the VP has no power to set policy. Just as Pence did not, just as Biden did not, just as Cheney did not. That was just all Bull&*%t talking points from the only news she watches. It was loud and my DH heard me. I think she looked like she was going to cry. I did not care in the moment, I had to leave the room. I went to the bathroom and shook for about 5 minutes. Tried not to cry as I didn't have time to redo my makeup. After about 10 minutes she was eating skittles and talking about dogs. Afterwards, I found out from DH that she said my brother would have to clean up and empty out her apt after she died because I wouldn't come over. Well, my sister in law would have to as my brother as dementia and just lays in bed all day. Couldn't be further from the truth. He has bad days due to a bad back. I had planned on a week's vacation to clean out the utterly stuffed from Southern Accent magazine apt. She also told my DH that all he does is sit in his office and watch TV. Why hadn't he filed for disability, social security, etc. He could probably get $1000s of back draw. Of course, he said he didn't tell me any of this to make me mad( but I was PEA livid), to not contact my brother and relay any of this(which I am still forming what I should say). He is already very pulled back from letting her into their lives. This will be the tip over I should think. Oh, and she is spending Thanksgiving with us. I know it is not the solution but there will be drinking and possibly other imbibing. Whew, thanks for that vent. I need it in writing to remember it all.
Dinner tonight is a kale/pasta salad from Sam's. It is soooooo good. If your Sam's has it, you should definitely try it. And now, I will go back and read everyone's day.

I also did a thing on Friday afternoon. I finally got my conch piercing. I have been "rewarding" myself after recent mental health challenges. This is the latest of those. I told the girl I had a wedding in 2 months and needed to know healing time. She said I couldn't change it for 6 months. So I went with something sparkly. Because we all need sparkle! I will say I will NOT be getting the other done. This piercing hurt like a mother!! And this coming from a person with a very high pain tolerance.

Big hugs naby64 . Let me tell you the solution I'm implementing: Thanksgiving table for 2. I don't care if everyone else is offended. I'm having a *nice* holiday. Your mother is a pill. This is part of the reason we have switched from going to her side of the state for the past several Thanksgiving, is due to her and my brother's thoughts on politics and guns. Don't get me started on that one. My niece is gay and I think everyone knows except for my mother. I believe N is waiting on her passing to fully be out, so to speak. My brother has called me, my DD and my N looney libtards. How do you call your own DD that? Trying not to defend him but other than that he is the biggest teddy bear and defender. Both of us would go to the death mat to protect the other sibling. Always have been. But I don't need to be around the other toxicity, nor does my very well educated on all the subject and can go toe to toe with anyone on all things politics. She will not hold her tongue any longer. So we have been doing Thanksgiving with a few close family members and we all laugh and have the best time. It works out very well for us. With my DD getting a new house, she thought it would be nice to invite her grandmother. Well, it is too late to put the horse back in the barn and it will be after the election so I am hoping things just won't be discussed. And for my mother, well, she hasn't always been this way. I do think there is projection of dementia. I won't even go into the things she said about my father fighting cancer in 2008 and how she was angry at him going through chemo and radiation when "there was no hope at the time of his diagnosis". And all the things she said about money after that. That came up Saturday night also. So for now, I would appreciate all the prayers, positive thoughts and whatever other joo-joo can be done. My DH is very worried about me at this point. He has called me twice already this morning to check on me.

Happy Monday dinner friends! scrapmaven - I can't remember the last time I went to the mall. I occasionally go to Dillards, but I park outside and run in that one store and leave. **GypsyGirl** I'm so sorry for the chaos and disappointment with DH's move, I hope things smooth out for you both soon. I'm sending good vibes and prayers for you and DH. I look forward to your quilt show post. I hope your classes were all great! naby64 I'm sorry you had a stressful weekend with your mom, no fun! Politics are such a taboo subject in so many homes, mine included. Vent away anytime! leannec I hope you feel better soon! I had a great time at the quilt show, my friend was challenging, but overall my creative cup was filled. I went to the grocery store this morning, I was low on a lot of items and picked up a few things in preparation of baking season. I bought a really nice looking piece of Salmon and some asparagus for dinner, I also have a few small red potatoes that need to be used. I hope we can get some cooler temps soon, I'm in the mood for vegetable soup. Wishing everyone a great day!

DH and I made a trip into the city to have a chicken sandwich from our favourite take out restaurant. They have a special on Mondays. We needed another reason take the drive so decided to grab some groceries as well. Home now and I can’t get my walk in due to rain so I’m snuggled in the recliner with my book.
Supper will be grilled striploin steak, baked potatoes, grilled asparagus and Caesar salad.

Today was my monthly chair ballet. It's so ridiculous, mostly no exercise at all, yet for whatever reason I love going to this low-stakes activity. This made me chuckle. I have seen chair yoga but not chair ballet. **GypsyGirl**, big hugs. This has been a true rollercoaster and I hope it was just a transition glitch and things will go smoother as the week progresses. I'm glad you were able to get to the quilt show and look forward to more fabulous photos. naby64, I'm so sorry that family causes so much tension in your world. DH is dealing with all sorts of half remembered stories/truths from his mom(91) along with the drama loving members of his family. He is going to visit next weekend so tensions are rising around here in anticipation. It doesn't help that election tension and my PET this week are also adding to the stress. Dinner tonight is going to be easy cheese tortellini with a marinara sauce. Probably spinach and/or Caesar salads on the side. DS wants pizza tomorrow and in discussing choices we've decided to create a fusion half Jamaican/half Indian option. The Jamaican side will be jerk chicken and I'm trying to decide what will go on the Indian half.

**GypsyGirl**, I hope everything gets sorted for your DH and you don't have to bring him home before he's ready. I have several friends who were at the Quilt show and have been posting lots of pictures. One of my sorority sisters from LSU owns a quilt shop. The quilt you posted was great! I have a ratty wedding ring quilt that is at least 80+ years old. Our dog chewed a hole in it when he was on my bed when I was a kid. I often wonder if a quilter would like to have it to maybe restore parts that don't have holes. I hate to throw it away.

If you don't want it repaired or remade for yourself, then reach out to a local quilting guild. There are a couple of members in mine who have businesses reworking old quilts into things like bags, pouches, doll blankets, etc.
