naby64..my daughter in law's dad called her a libtard in a restaurant.. in public!! it is surprising she still talks to her parents. they do minimize their time with her parents.
we have been lucky that all our parents (the depression era babies) and now my generation, and my kids generation --all are on the liberal side.. more some than others. no conservatives at all.

Absolutely! If you don't want it repaired or remade for yourself, then reach out to a local quilting guild. There are a couple of members in mine who have businesses reworking old quilts into things like bags, pouches, doll blankets, etc. Thanks for your suggestion. That's what I was thinking. I just took a picture of it. There are 3 holes and several stains. I had it on my bed as a kid but haven't really used it in years. Shoot the photo didn't load. I'll try again. Didn't work again.

Welcome back christine58. It's nice to see you here. naby64, I'm sitting on the bench w/ jeremysgirl. My favorite Thanksgiving moments happened when I didn't spend it w/my family. Sounds like your mom needs to go eat a nice TG meal somewhere that you are not present! It's OK to change your plan. No one is entitled to be that hurtful to you and expect a nice meal. I don't invite people into my home who are abusive twds me. Those people can go to the drive thru. **GypsyGirl**, I'm really sorry that your dh's new place isn't good. That must be very stressful, just due to the fact that he might be moving, again. This puts so much pressure on you, too. I hope that things improve. Have you let the charge nurse or facility director know that the nursing care is subpar? The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

scrapmaven I am glad to hear that your headache is better. Hmmm, I have a feeling that when Stoic Scrapmaven says her headache is "so much better," it is still bad enough to have me groaning in bed! Dinner tonight is cottage pie. I’ve cooked the meat and vegetables, and just need to do the mashed potatoes for the topping. I will probably cheat and use a packet mix. Sue what is the packet mix mashed potato like? I have a couple packets of Deb in my pantry, but I bought it to use in bread making, not to make actual mashed potato. I bought a couple of packets of parmesan and roasted garlic frozen mashed potato on Saturday, as they were on sale at the SPC factory outlet. My mum says the frozen mashed potato is really good, so fingers crossed! **GypsyGirl** I look forward to seeing your quilt thread! I really like the 'Political Circus' quilt you posted. I'm sorry that your initial thoughts about the facility are not good. Hopefully things improve once he gets settled in. I totally understand your thoughts that it feels like a never-ending journey - it feels to me that it has gone on forever, and I'm just watching from the sidelines - I can't imagine how much worse it is for you both, having to live it. Big hugs to you and your husband. naby64 I am really sorry that you had to put up with that from your mum. Ugh. Thanksgiving sounds like it's going to be a blast. Depending on who wins, you might need to cancel. Or should I say, regardless of who wins, you might need to cancel! I like your piercing, it's a nice bit of bling! ntsf your block party sounds like fun! When I was a kid, we lived in a court (cal-de-sac) and almost every house had kids around my and my siblings ages. We had a park right next door to our house, and we had block parties as well, in the park. It was great.

We got to have our pork belly on Monday night. I took it over to MIL's house to do the final preparation. It's served with chilli caramel, cabbage and apple slaw with nuoc cham, and black vinegar. Everyone loved it, and MIL messaged me later to say that she wants that to be her last meal when the time comes! High praise indeed, from the best cook I know. MIL also made prawn toast, honey chicken, fried rice, and a crispy chilli pork noodle dish. There was not much rechauffe on offer, but I managed to get a small serve of the chilli pork noodles, with a bit of the honey sauce from the chicken dish poured over it. I am looking forward to lunch today! Everyone is enjoying a day off today, for the Melbourne Cup public holiday. Well, except for me. I have to work. At least I get a day off in lieu, on a day of my choosing.

You nailed it. I am waiting for 2 meds to be filled. Migraines can come w/restlessness and insomnia and this is day 13. Since I deal w/much bigger stuff, I tend to downplay the small stuff. Thank you. ((((HUGS)))).

Have any of you ever ordered beans from Rancho Gordo? I just picked up their cookbook at the library and I have to say, I'm intrigued to try some of their beans. I love their beans!
