Those of you who love to read, do your reading habits change at all during October through January, when we have so many holidays back to back? I find that despite being more busy, I do tend to read a larger quantity of books during these months, BUT the books change from what I typically read. I tend to read far quicker/shorter/easier books, because I like to read books geared towards the seasons or holidays. Halloween is tricky for me, because I'm a baby about thrillers. So I've read some really campy fall books over the years. And I find it's far easier to find Christmas and Halloween books than Thanksgiving, New Years, Diwali, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, and so on, but I still do try. I find that I read more books resembling the stereotypical "Hallmark Movie" during these 3 months than the entire rest of the year combined. So, how does the last quarter of the year affect your reading, or does it not change it at all?

It's funny as most of the book podcasts that I listen to talk about "spooky season." I've never particularly read more thrillers/horror this time of year. And, I don't really read Christmas themed books, though I have a couple that I picked up during the year that I guess I'll read in December.
So, tl;dr - not really.

I read less during the holidays because I’m busy with other things. Our book club doesn’t meet in December for that reason.
I just read a nice Halloween book about witches but I don’t usually find holiday themed books that I enjoy.

I can be found reading a Christmas book in August, and a horror book in February. Unless I'm doing a themed reading challenge, it's anything goes any time of year. My biggest reading month is usually January, but December is up there because I like to start the year off without any half read books on my nightstand.
Last year I did buy myself a Christmassy book (we do jolabokaflod on Christmas Eve) and read it in the correct season. Go me.

I've never read "seasonal" books, I just keep reading whatever I want to read. And I don't really like horror books (or movies ) so that's not a factor. Although, I am in a book group on Facebook and we have monthly prompts, which often are somewhat seasonal, vaguely. lol.

This is the time of the year when I'm trying to complete my book challenges for the year so what I'm reading is generally either a specific book from a challenge or quick and easy reads to catch up on my pages read count, lol.
We do a book exchange in December so I'm guaranteed a new book right around Christmas and typically we spend that evening snacking and reading together. January is a big reading month for me.

My reading slows down some. Hopefully I will do better this year.

I read in bed, before I go to sleep (sometimes for 2 or 3 hours). That doesn't usually change, unless I am over-tired or not feeling well, then I go to sleep earlier than usual.
Occasionally I declare it's "lazy pajama day" and read in bed, during the day. If I am doing that, then I often have a cup of tea and sometimes a cookie or two.
I read the same type-genre of books throughout the year.

I don’t read by season. I definitely wouldn’t read any Christmas books in December, nor do I watch any Christmas movies ever.

I don't read by season or holiday. I find most Christmas movies overly sentimental, so not the stuff I'd want to read anyway if the books are the same. The amount I read doesn't change much either. It's just DH and I these days, and we live a long way from family, so I don't necessarily have much more to do - even presents are done early to be sent off in years we don't travel home. This year is a travel home for Christmas year, so I'll read more on travel days (24 hours transit time means lots of time to read) but less while I'm there, unless you count all the kid's books I'll get to read to grandkids.

My reading habits don't really change, I read horror and weird books all year. Last year I tried to read Christmas themed books for the whole of December and failed, I think I only read one that I really enjoyed and stopped trying to force it.

I've read a few Christmas books over the years. I'm not really in to those beach reads/Hallmark movie books.
I think I'm pretty consistent with my reading year round. With a bit more in the winter and by winter I mean October to April so that's most of the year, lol! Occasionally I will spend a "whole" day reading in the winter, I never do in the summer.
