Let’s hope so. Rumor has it trump will declare himself the winner about 2am tonight. Like that’s going to make it so.
I’m checking out for today and maybe tomorrow. No news, no twitter just streaming British Mysteries.

I wish I could check out...but I know myself; I could never do it. I will be glued to the TV around dinner time and hope (PRAY) for a situation that will have Kamala declared winner before bedtime. A big ask, I know...but a girl can hope!

In 2016, I went to bed thinking that Hilary Clinton was going to be the next President of the United States. She was ahead when I went to sleep around 9pm. We all know how that turned out.
I won't rest until Kamala Harris is officially announced as the winner.

I said the other day that I was exceedingly calm. I remain in that mode. Will I watch, yes, but there is little I can now.
I will prepare, if necessary, for the aftermath in a few days.
I'm just glad my friend's DS does NOT have whooping cough!

Yes, we will have a democracy after today. I am certain of it.

I'm not even American and I want to know the answer too! I'm hoping that the orange toddler's latest rally is a reflection of how many people won't be voting for him. I'm going to keep an eye on the news before I head off to a Coldplay concert in the evening.

After today? Yes. After Inauguration Day? Maybe not.

I can only hope. Of course, my mother and DH all think my grumbling and worry is for nothing. "he won't do any of what he says" geesh, ok sheep.
I work at a church and in this town, that makes it a precinct. So there is no getting away from it. I see all the people pulling in to vote and it makes my heart so proud. I live in a predominantly blue town in a very red state. I will get all the calls today: are you open, when do you close, are you precinct such and such. So I don't expect a lot of actual work to get done. I did bring my tablet and will have West Wing on all day. Ya know the time of civil discourse and when gov't actually got something done, albeit not real.
Once I get home, I will be making tacos. And what goes with tacos? Margaritas. I would like to think I will avoid any news but danggit, I won't be able to help myself. I will be nail-biting, tissue twisting and Xanax taking all day just to get through.

I won't rest until Kamala Harris is officially announced as the winner. I was up late trying to write a paper for class. It was horrific seeing the numbers come in. Horrific! Basically sat there in utter disbelief, trying to compose my thoughts for the paper, writing a sentence or two, then back to the results. I was up until 4 am. This year, I will not check the news or anything. I will climb into bed and read. It’s a reread of 11/2?/63 (?) by Stephen King. That was a happy accident. At present, the pup and I are having outside time. Was going to go vote before work. But, he and I haven’t done this for quite awhile. So, after work, then back to town for a market run.

He has said he will announce he won tonight.
He has plans to go to the courtroom. He is fighting to stay out of jail as well as be in the White House.
Remember, he only wants to be a dictator for a day. hahahh (except not funny).
I pray that he loses and is removed from the news ASAP.

I spoke of my mother in the dinner thread yesterday. It was a bad weekend with her. She votes on what the "news" channel tells her. She has no thought process behind it. My DH, well god love him and for the most part he is a good man, but he is a "R". Always has been, always will be. He's not a trumper but he still holds out hope for the old party. Doesn't make it any better but I have to live with him. There have been too many arguments in the last few years for me to try and change him. I just bring up our DD, our future DIL and my niece. But yes, I do know what you speak of and it does boggle my mind. Again, if you only watch one channel...

I'm nervous but I have done all I can do and I know it's out of my hands now. Awhile back we booked a 4-night cruise for Veteran's Day weekend since it's a holiday for DH never realizing that it would be around election day. We're leaving to go down to Galveston tomorrow and cruise on Thursday. I'm anxious about the election and the storm in the gulf and I can't do anything about either one. HCR had a great post on Facebook yesterday or the day before about previous times of adversity in our history and how we survived. And I do believe that we will. I can't let myself believe anything else. Hopefully, today is a day of celebration. If not, we keep fighting.
One thing that gave me hope no matter what happens- I was on Threads last night and there were thousands and thousands of women all across the world showing support and encouragement to American women. It was amazing. We are not alone.

I can only hope so too. My 24 y/o DS is in line to vote right now and he says there are a ton of people there. My 22 y/o DS has said he won't vote (too many stupid reasons to list here) and my 19 y/o DD, who just voted in her first election from overseas, sent him an amazing text pleading with him to reconsider and vote for Harris for the sake of his sisters, his LGBTQ+ friends, his diabetic father and so much more. I'm so proud of her. I also think she's going to try very hard to not come back to the US if the orange clown wins.

If he won't do any of what he says, why are you voting for him? And do you have the same confidence that a potential president Vance won't do any of that stuff? I am just so tired of our real fears and concerns being dismissed. My husband, my family ... it's all there, there, don't worry your little head. It won't be as bad as you think if he wins. Smacks of "just lie back and let it happen" to me. Disgusting.

He may declare himself the winner early to keep voters in the west from voting. And then it will also set up his followers to believe the election was rigged if he ends up losing. Trump has nothing to lose at this point.

There will be a peaceful transfer of power unlike the last election when trump was president. So trump can threaten whatever he wants. His supporters can try to do whatever they want. It won't be like last time. They won't be free to wreak havoc on the Capitol. Biden will shut that shit down ASAP! I will bet he will have the National Guard on high alert until after Harris is sworn in.

Curious question ... on Jan 6th, 2025, will Harris, who will still be the VP, be the one presiding over Congress and counting the electoral votes? I know Pence did as VP, but he wasn't running for President. Does it matter if Harris is on the ballot?

Yes, I am also sure we will all be okay.
In 2008 when Obama won it was supposed to be the end. It wasn't. In 2012 when he was re-elected it was supposed to end. It didn't. In 2016 when Trump won it was supposed to end. It didn't. In 2020 when Biden won it was supposed to end. It didn't.
So no I don't subscribe to the fear mongering going on by both parties. I like to believe there are more normal people in America than the extremists on both sides.

I’m telling myself that the long karma game wins. Not only will democracy be preserved, but Trump finally goes to prison, MAGA breaks down, and the Republican Party regroups. The past 8 years have been exhausting, and there needs to be some kind of relief at the end.

But I have heard since she is on the ballot, the President Pro Tempore would then break the tie. Patty Murray of WA currently has that job, I think.

Unfortunately or fortunately it will depend on the outcome of the Senatorial races... The new Senate will have been seated by the 6th..THAT is why the race is so important!!! Who wins the majority .
