When I was first voting, I remember being one of the only one of my friends' group that cared about voting. I've voted in every presidential election since 1985 and quite a few local elections too.
The past years have shown just how important everyone's vote is with our close elections. Everyone I know votes and I don't have any friends/family who don't vote. I can't imagine not voting but I'm sure there are those who don't care even though I can't imagine it.
Do you know anyone who hasn't or won't vote in this election?

Voting was/is VERY important in my birth family. I was shocked and speechless when my step son said he didn't vote. I could not respond because there was no way I could hold my tongue and be civil. This was probably 40 years ago when he was of age to vote. His excuse was, "I don't want to be called for jury duty." I remain appalled that he had that attitude.
He did vote at least once since then.
His wife is glued to Fox News so I know if she votes it will be DT. I am afraid to ask if they vote or not.
They would be the only ones not voting in my circle.

Quite a few people. My son registered this year, for the first time- but has since lost steam. I doubt he’ll vote.
My sister doesn’t vote. I have several colleagues who say they didn’t vote and don’t plan to (based on team call where boss said to make time in the weeks leading up or day of, just block it on the calendar for voting. I live in a state that leans heavier than the tower of Pisa…. So a lot of people don’t bother.

Voting is very important in my family, too. My nephew turned 18 this year and registering him was a priority.
The only elections I missed in my life were a couple local ones. At the time I didn't understand how important the local ones were. I don't miss any now.
I'm sure there are tons of people who don't vote and it drives me crazy.

At the very least, I'll cancel out one of the other side's vote.

One of my co-workers is not voting. She says it's because she doesn't like either candidate. I think its because she's just too lazy to go out and do it.
I will be voting tonight after work.

As far as I know I don't know anyone who does not vote. I live in a very politically active bluest-of-the-blue areas of a usually blue state. I suppose there might be people who I run into regularly who aren't voting but honestly, I can't imagine it.

Same here. In NYS, if someone doesn't have 4 hours to vote outside of their work hours, employers are required to give 2 hours of paid time so they can vote. She's working the full day since she isn't voting but her husband is leaving work early to sit at home as he's not voting either. She said she doesn't like either presidential candidate which I get but local elections are so important. Have a voice in your community!

I am 79 years old. The only election I have ever not voted in (since I was eligible to vote), was a city council election and the vote was on a Saturday in May and I just forgot it was voting day.

I finally got my DH to vote this year by convincing him that even if CA goes blue anyway with out him we need him for our local races. I even told him he doesn't have to vote for prez but vote in the local races. He did vote on everything except some for our water district cuz he has no information on it.

DH only voted (he did not vote for president as far as I know) because I told him he needed to set a good example for our kids. I then made a big point of showing the kids DH ballot before I dropped it off at the ballot collection box.
We live in a blue state (but in a purple county) and he doesn't think it matters.

Our lake neighbor is currently staying with us while she recuperates from a heart attack in September. She is a registered Republican who voted for Trump in 2016 but didn’t vote for either candidate in 2020. She has said previously that she wouldn’t vote for either candidate for president this year. Since she isn’t in her home state (IL) and hasn’t requested an absentee ballot, she won’t be voting at all this year. If she did vote it would probably be for down ballot Republicans, so it’s probably best that she’s not voting since so many of the R candidates are MAGA now and they need to GO. #sorrynotsorry

My daughter’s boyfriend. He doesn’t feel like his vote matters or will make a difference. We don’t know him well enough yet to have a conversation about the importance of voting.

My daughter’s boyfriend. He doesn’t like either candidate so won’t vote. They live in Massachusetts so it might not matter, but still.
Another person I know in Florida “doesn’t get involved in politics”. I judge that. 🤨

I know people who don’t vote. It drives me nuts. The things people went through to secure votes for others . . It’s as bad as ignoring the sacrifices the military make imho. I know you mean this election but it irks me here too.

I'll admit I haven't always been a big voter. I have always voted in the presidential elections but have skipped many a primary and local.
My kids are much more active than I am. That said my youngest will not be voting this time around. She's currently in Spain and said it was too much work to figure out how to vote (her vote by mail ballot came after she left) and she's not thrilled with Kamala because of her stance (or lack of stance) on the Israel/Hamas conflict (she would not have voted for Biden for the same reason). We live in California so really her vote doesn't matter on the presidential race, but I would have liked her to vote on the local stuff.
My middle kid just moved back home. He's not registered locally (and didn't receive his mail-in ballot before he moved) so it's unclear if he'll want to stand in line today with his sister and me to do a provisional ballot.

My YDS, who is in the military. He just doesn't. I have asked, begged and pleaded. My ODS didn't but I think he is voting in this one.

I don't think so. Just texted DS who said he and his GF are going to vote at 3. So 2 for Harris/Walz!

I know for sure of one. He says they're all the same anyway, why does it matter? I don't argue with him, since if he did vote, he wouldn't vote "my way." And DD has one friend who was all gung ho (just turned 18 a couple of weeks ago), but I don't think she managed to get out and early vote. DD was going to forcibly drag her one night, but they were running too late to get there. I don't know if she'll vote today or not - I have a feeling she wants to, but won't get around to it.
And I'm sure I know others, but the circles I run in tend to have pretty conscientious people so most of them will.

Yes, unfortunately I know at least 2 people who are sitting this election out. And both are very anti-trump, which makes it an even bigger disappointment.
