I am so sad! I use this all the time for audio books. There is a way better selection than LIbby. Sigh.

Bummer! I use our Hoopla too. Books are much quicker through that than Libby.
I got one a couple weeks ago that had a 24 week wait on Libby, and was immediately available on Hoopla.

Right? And they dont have all the options either. Of course you can "request we purchase" but they never do.

I wonder if your state has a library that you could access? For instance I have three cards for libraries in the state of MD…

Oh no. I just discovered Hoopla snd love it. I use it for movies and binge passes. I would be so upset if I no longer had access and have only used it for 3 weeks.

I hope you can find another library that uses it.

I am so sad! I use this all the time for audio books. There is a way better selection than LIbby. Sigh. That's because Libby doesn't actually have any books... The books you borrow through Libby come from your own library. Hoopla is its own digital library service. My own library has never had Hoopla so I don't know what I'm missing since I've never used it.

Do you have the CloudLibrary app? It's another free app libraries use. I am in Southern Alberta too. The library system here only uses Libby and Hoopla (for now), but will check out CloudLibrary and see if I have access. Thanks!

Most of the libraries here require a local address, from my experience. I am going to check to see if I can get one from Calgary (if they arent part of this system).

They are happy to take requests to order in books, but out of all the 30ish I have requested, they have bought 2. The selection here is so vanilla. Sigh. And so very limited for audio books.

I'm lucky that my library does actually buy the books I've suggested in the past. And we do have a pretty good selection to begin with. Have you checked around with other libraries in your state? or with libraries in neighboring counties to see if you can borrow from them? Where I live we have reciprocal borrowing privileges with the DC library, and several Northern Virginia and Maryland counties. Plus, there's another one in Virgina that offers a card to any Virginia resident (Newport News). I only use these other libraries for Kindle books though, since I have no interest in driving all over the DC Metro area just for a book.

Oh, that's too bad - I love Hoopla! I've actually never used it for audio books or binging. I just read books on it and love that I can set it to dark mode for when I'm trying to go to sleep.

does your library district (or whatever you call it) have a reciprocal agreement with any other / larger library systems in your area? I live in a rural town outside StL and my library system has a reciprocal agreement with the St Louis county library system, so I got a StL library card for free. (otherwise it's something like $50 for out-of-district.)
