I wrote a similar post 8 years ago and got comments like, “FFS I don’t think you know how grass works.”
I’m in agreement that dog owners shouldn’t let dogs burn brown spots into your lawn. I’m glad you are getting more helpful responses here.

In my neighborhood, there are either no sidewalks, or the sidewalk separates the homeowner's yard and the easement.
My neighborhood is mostly townhouses or patio homes, so using our own yards is not an option because we really don't have them. The easement is free rein. Some neighbors put up wrought iron fences if they have a small front yard space. TBH, i live in town and most people in my neighborhood don't really give a sh&*! what their grass looks like.
