I will eat a big traditional meal the Saturday after when my extended family has chosen to celebrate. I am looking for ideas for 2 people. I’ve considered lasagne plus fixings and steak dinner. What are you traditional meal peas planning??

It's just the 2 of us for Thanksgiving. We've done: steak roast beef baked ziti ordered a pizza once - the only place open was a papa john's (do not recommend) an assortment of appetizers
I think one year we got take out from a restaurant to have as leftovers the next day and another we just went to the diner.
It's not a big holiday for us .

I would go out to a place that is serving their regular menu OR, if we stayed at home, I would make filet and shrimp or filet and crab cakes. Something a little more special than the everyday meals

My first thought was steak.

I’m German. Sometimes we have schnitzel and other German food instead. Last Christmas we did one night German for dinner and the other India (where my husband grew up).

My first thought is, woohoo, I don't have to cook!
Thanksgiving dinner isn't my favorite, and I can't remember the last time we sat down and had a Thanksgiving meal. My guess is 15+ years ago. We would typically travel during Thanksgiving week. Sometimes I would do a nice lamb dinner the week before for my in-laws.

What are you traditional meal peas planning?? We've done steak on the grill. One year it was really warm here in western NY so that's what we did. We did lasagna also. A good friend's DH and kids hate turkey so they did homemade pizza, kids stayed in their PJ's all day and each one got to pick a movie.

I'm traveling to DS's for Thanksgiving and I'm not sure what we are going to have. It could end up very non-traditional although I suggested going out. I'm watching all of these ideas.

We smoke a brisket along with the traditional turkey dinner. 3/5s of my people do not like turkey.
We've also done fondu, that was fun.

We've done brisket some years, and last year DH did smoked quail on the wood pellet grill.

If it is just immediate family we've done rotisserie lamb before (and maybe lamp chops another time?).
A pork loin roast surrounded by vegetables (carrots, potatoes, onions, beets) is the perfect two person meal, IMHO.
A small roast Greek chicken would also be lovely.
Personally I like something that looks more of a harvest meal than lasagne or steak.

It will be just 3 of us. I bought turkey legs for my husband and myself. My son doesn't like turkey, so I am picking him up Popeyes chicken the day before Thanksgiving to reheat- his favorite. Will still make mashed potatoes and stuffing. Buying a bakery pumpkin pie.

We are doing a big Thanksgiving get together the weekend before. So we may do Cornish Game Hens stuffed with corn bread dressing, pecans and using apricot brandy and apple juice. Basted with apricot preserves, butter and apricot Brandy.

Since it will just be two people, I vote going out somewhere or something you love, that is very simple. Mine would be tacos or enchiladas.

Homemade chicken cordon blue with Bernaise sauce. Mashed or scallop potatoes. Fresh veggies or salad.

I don't like any of the Thanksgiving foods so we have done many other meals for that day. One of my favorites is pork tenderloin, roasted potatoes and a vegetable. I do make DH is pumpkin pie of the year - all for him.

I've made acorn squash halves stuffed with either traditional bread stuffing or some sort of rice or quinoa pilaf. DH makes his delicious spinach/kale/portobello/garlic concoction to go with it.

We've had shepherd's pie before, as well as a pot pie. Not quite as large a departure as pizza or sushi, but still not your turkey and stuffing, either.

We usually do chili with cornbread or bread bowls and some simple sides. We were tired of cooking all day and then not getting time to enjoy the meal. We have a large extended family, so if they want a traditional meal they can cook it another day. And honesty, no one has complained!
