Just about every online Christmas gift suggestion list for Tween girls has a mini-fridge (to hold make-up or one or two soft drinks). Do tween girls REALLY like them? What is your best suggestion for a 12-year old girl?

Does she have a list? Does she like make up? Does she like to do her hair or nails? Does she like comfortable clothes?
Id poke around and see what she is in to. I think it's better to know than blindly buy.

My daughter is 12 and she has really been into Midliner markers (I think that is what they are called) and these coloring books that aren't like adult coloring books but not little kid ones either. They seem really simple to me but they are the most requested item on this years Secret Santa list in her grade.

I give my niece who is that age a gift card. I order a custom card version with her name on the front and a photo of her. Full disclaimer…I sell gift cards for a living…so I’m a little biased. But, she loves them.

I have two girls a little older than "tween", but they are like night and day. They did request a mini fridge for their room, which I thought was odd considering there are two full sized refrigerators nearby?

I would not allow a mini-fridge in my teen's room. And wouldn't have when she was younger either.
I think my DD's favorite things at that age were gift cards to places that she wanted to shop that aren't the usual places I would buy her clothes or makeup or something for a hobby.
I actually think that when she was 12 was the first year we did a "gift card shopping day", which now we look forward to. I was lamenting how "un-fun" gift cards are to gift and we came up with this. We each get a set amount of cash (like $40) in case a gift card doesn't cover the purchase, but we plan out the day based on the gift cards we have. We usually start the day with Starbucks and end the day with dinner. I get to see her be excited about picking things she really loves and we get time together. And now my DH throws a couple of gift cards in my stocking so I can join in too!

My 12-in-6-weeks granddaughter is not interested in make up, doesn't drink soft drinks and if she was allowed a fridge in her room, I don't think she'd want one. She is horse mad, Harry Potter mad and Lego mad. She also enjoys games like monopoly, cluedo or card games and jigsaws.

I just asked her and she said they are called bold and easy coloring books. When I search that on google quite a few come up. She also corrected me that the Midliner markers are for note taking. The coloring markers are Ohuhu markers or colored pencils. My dd had one of those desktop mini fridges because everyone talked about how great it was. She didn’t like it because she said it was too loud and she only drinks water so it didn’t really serve a purpose since she uses a water bottle. I think it was only in her room for about a week before she took it out. Other items I saw on that group list were soft, fuzzy blankets and also Jellycat stuffed animals.

My 13 year old DD is into the lego botanicals, bath and body works (gift cards are great!), Starbucks or Dutch bros (gift cards again), ulta (yep, gift cards). She really likes to pick out her own stuff.
You could do a super cute and easy gift card thing using a mason jar and her favorite candies with a gift card buried in the middle of it. It's become my go-to birthday present for my DD's friends.
I generally just give cash. It can be spent wherever they want, fits everyone, and it generally well received. If you feel that you want to give a gift, get something small- nail polish, lip gloss, etc and put it with it.
eta: thoughts on the fridge- nope. My kid can't keep her room clean, I can't even imagine what the inside of a fridge in there would look like!

My girls and I just went down a watercolor rabbit hole (almost 12 and 9) . I bought them watercolor workbooks on Amazon where you paint in the books. Yesterday we started and did a painting outside of the book that was from YouTube and just a fall scene. I’m excited to see where we go with this.

I’d say it depends on the tween. Our (now almost 19 y/o) granddaughter got one for her makeup several years ago and still uses it. Our 14 y/o grandson has one he keeps his Dr. Pepper in. Maybe hint around and see what kind of response you get?

We were joking about one of those teeny tiny fridges for my youngest's room awhile back and their comment was that it was cool-looking, but they couldn't even keep enough drinks cold to have few kids over, plus they'd want to come down to the kitchen for snacks, anyway, so they might as well just get drinks from the kitchen.

I gave my 10 year old my old mini fridge about a year ago. It's one of those that are only about as big as a shoe box and she keeps her skincare stuff in it.
In my daughter's circle of friends, they are all about skincare, makeup, Pokemon, cool pens, "preppy" style accessories, room decor.

We got that game based on recommendations here and honestly we didn’t love it, primarily because there are usually only three of us playing. It would be a better game for a bigger group of people, IMO. Just something to take into consideration, who/ how many would be playing it.

I got one for free years ago as a gift with purchase from somewhere and I thought it would be nice for my studio, but no. It might hold 2-3 bottles of water and maybe four cans of whatever. I still have it but have never even plugged it in. On a somewhat related note, what kind of skin care needs to be kept in a refrigerator? Especially for a kid? 🤔
