Transitioning to the colder temperatures. I live in a mildly cold climate (southwest)....so not super cold. My arthritis must be getting a little worse, because my joints and bones are not happy. Takes me longer to get out of bed, then I hobble around for awhile. Once I get myself going, I am fine. I take ibuprofen for the ache. I've also stood in the hot shower for awhile (not into taking baths). Every morning for the past couple weeks, I've been saying to myself >> "good grief, when did I get old?". Just wanted to commiserate with anyone else feeling the "morning cold" aches and pains.

Ha. Yes! I am feeling the 'cold' this year more than normal. Or is this my new normal? I don't know. Either way, my joints hurts so bad when it gets below 40 degrees here.

So far we haven't had much cold, but I've always taken a hot shower in the morning to help get moving. I also find it helps to do a few stretches before I actually get out of bed if I can remember.

I don’t notice a difference when it’s cold, but I do stretches, so maybe that’s why? I do get stiff muscles if I don’t stretch my legs.

I am recovering from a cold at the same time CO got its first winter storm. Every time I go outside, and take a cold breath, I end up in a coughing fit. I have the upstairs and downstairs humidifiers (depending where I am) already running for the season. Thankfully, no seasonal aches. I used to get super cold, even in AZ, but menopause seems to have fixed that. I don't get hot flashes, I just feel "not cold."

Yup. My joints can predict the weather better than any weatherman.

I have morning aches regardless of the weather. But, lately I have been feeling warmer than usual in the house. I guess that is another effect of getting older. Most of the time it's ok but I might actually need to turn the thermostat down at night.

We just dug out of a three day snowstorm (with three bonus snow days as well). We had about 2 feet of snow. It hit us especially hard because last week we were sweating our nuts off in Costa Rica.
I haven't reached the part of my life where the cold is affecting my joints yet. Thankfully. I also have a dog that says "Snow? Let's go!" We were walking down the middle of the street in tire ruts with the snow over her head on both sides. Crazy.

I also have aches and pains in the am, but I think there is an element of truth to acclimating to the cold. To me, 50 degrees in the fall is freezing, but by the time spring rolls around, 50 degrees is almost short sleeve weather. I think it helps to acclimate if you spend a little time outside everyday.

Meloxicam has helped me a lot. I've been told by two doctors I have the body of someone in their late 60's and I'm late 40's.
