Not just here. People claiming that TT 'didn't mean that', 'that's not what he meant'. Who wants a president representing them on a world stage who needs other people to decipher what he meant, who can't speak coherently enough to be understood, who needs other people to back track his statements to make them a bit more palatable?
Can anyone explain that to me, because as an excuse for his verbal diarrhea it's pretty bloody poor.

Asshole's "people" have been trying to "explain" his word diarrhea for the past 10 years. I don't get it either.

I've been saying that for.ever. If someone (anyone, not even just the narcissist at hand) has to be re-explained, excused because "what he really meant" and backsplained all the way, perhaps his communication skills are not qualifying for the job. 🤷🏻♀️

It is just good ol' fashioned cognitive dissonance. It is uncomfortable to acknowledge one's biases and contradictory beliefs. All of his "jokes" are couched in something he wants...sometimes these are nearly fantasies, but if given the chance, he will likely do those things.
And yes, just the fundamental question of: If he IS really joking, should I follow/allow someone to represent my entire country who continues to lie and "joke" about inappropriate things---daily? Seems to be too much to handle, so instead of really questioning themselves and their beliefs, they just lash out at those who make them feel uncomfy---we can't take a joke, too sensitive, creating "propaganda.", etc...

Biden's leaving office. No longer will he be representing us on a world stage needing someone to decipher what he said because he doesn't speak coherently enough to be understood. No longer will his staff rush to say that what he meant is the exact opposite of what he said. There was no way to make his Hitleresque Philadelphia backdrop in Philadelphia more palatable, no matter the media excuses for it.
You should explain how you put up with Biden for 4 years before asking why anyone would prefer an actual leader back in office.
Anyone who believes the nonsense of Trump being a dictator who will go after his political opponents has been blind for four years.

And in a shockingly short amount of time we shall see just what he has planned. I tend to believe people when they tell me who they are, and he has certainly told all of us of his demented agenda.

In addition to the cognitive dissonance, I think it's a signal of the vast distrust people have about politicians. "They all lie, and make campaign promises that they will break." People can apply it equally to the things they want and the things they don't want.

Create distrust of the media and confusion of the masses.

If no one knows what you are saying or what you mean, you can do whatever you want. They just didn't understand you. It is a win for Trump to be a moron.

If they REALLY didn't think he would do those things, what DO they think he'll do? if he didn't mean those things, then what DID he mean? And why would people vote for him? If you don't believe a candidate will do what they campaign on, then what difference does it make which one is in the White House?? If no one believes candidates will do what they say, then why not vote for Kamala Harris instead?
If it wasn't because they think he'll do what he says (which I still think it was), it must have been because they're as much misogynistic and bigoted racists as he is... None of those reasons are good.

Yes, I won’t mention his name - it has been mentioned already in this thread - tried it in Germany in the 1930s and managed to get us into a World War. It didn’t end well then and we can only hope and pray it doesn’t end as badly this time around.

Anyone who believes the nonsense of Trump being a dictator who will go after his political opponents has been blind for four years. Yes, Biden is leaving office, and he has his own set of issues. Cognitive dissonance is not ascribed to only one party or group of people. Some of Biden and Trump's issues are similar. They both seem to have some cognitive decline, tend toward rambling stories that don't make a lot of sense, and say and do some odd things off the cuff. I am not going to be one to say that Biden is some perfect president or human; however, they are not in the same category at all. Sure, anything can be turned into something nefarious if you are looking, but Biden's lies, strange moments and questionable statements/policy are not in the same universe as Trump's. It is the shear amount and outrageousness of his lies; it is the constant repetition of the stories, threats and actions that make it something clearly different than Biden or any other previous president, so yes, unquestionably and/or trying to explain away all of his constantly ridiculous statements shows signs of an uncritical mind.
