Good morning dinner tribe! I’m starting the thread today on scrapmaven ’s behalf. Hopefully her migraine will lessen and she will feel better today. I have errands to run then hope to finish my book today. **GypsyGirl** , I hope you made some headway with the home health care set up. Do you think Nov 22nd is a reasonable timeline? sueg , I hope your appointment at the Oral Clinic went well. leannec , I’m glad the prescription is helping with your foot and the sciatica. ntsf , how was the dinner boat cruise? The Birdhouse Lady , when you finish The Good Wife, you can start The Good Fight. bc2ca , good luck with your 2 appointments before you head off for your crop this weekend. stormsts , how lovely that you got to meet your YDS’s girlfriend. I’m sorry you have to make another trip to SC this time of year. kelly8875 how are you liking Gilmore Girls? Believe it or not, DH watched the entire series with me and only rolled his eyes a handful of times. jeremysgirl, I miss you. Check in when you're up to it. naby64 how are you doing? Dinner might be rechauffe Chicken Noodle Soup. What’s on your menu? I wish everyone a peaceful day.

I miss you. Check in when you're up to it. Hi, Friends. Taking some time away helped me reset myself. I've added two threads to the board this morning so feel free to join in. We all have to take the opportunity to shape this board the way we want it to be. I encourage all of you to chime in with new threads talking about things that matter to you too. I'm sorry I've missed some of what has been going on in the dinner thread. I see scrapmaven still has a migraine. I'll send her a message but I'm starting to become really concerned. Yesterday, I decided I would finally treat myself to a Lodge Cast Iron Enamel 6 qt Dutch Oven. I have never had one and I'm trying desperately to get my sourdough starter successful. In addition I have decided that I need to return to plant based eating and this will make it easy to cook full pots of beans at a time. Tonight's dinner will be lentil stuffed peppers. I really like that recipe.

Good evening all, I was up and out early today. The Oral clinic is a walk-in clinic, so I wanted to be there as early as possible. No need to worry today - there was one other person waiting for registration when I got there, and by the time I was in the waiting room for the doctors, they had already been called through and I ended up being called only about 5 minutes later. The doctor I saw today was more inclined to surgically remove the cyst thingy than previous doctors have been. He did do an internal ultrasound of the cheek, but said it didn't give much more info than we had. As it hasn't grown since I was last in, back in July, and as I'm off to Australia in a month for Christmas, I chose to once again go with 'wait and see' - I'll go back in February, and then decide if it's worth getting it cut out. As I was already in the city, I decided to do a bit of shopping. I hit the craft store to get something for Sophia, the Asian grocery for ingredients for Friday's dinner and the bookstore, for calendars - I'll give calendars with nice pictures of Germany to family for Christmas. jeremysgirl - it's good to see you back. Thank you for some non-political threads. I've been staying away from the board except for this and the craft thread, as I've had enough US politics to last a lifetime! scrapmaven - I really hope you get lasting relief for your migraine soon. Dinner tonight is going to be spinach and ricotta cannelloni.

leannec , I’m glad the prescription is helping with your foot and the sciatica. It's helping a lot but I need to know what is going on! I'm sorry you are out of commission again scrapmaven! I'll check out your threads jeremysgirl! I have no real plans today other than to go to the grocery store ... my mum is coming over for dinner tomorrow but I feel like shopping today I'll find something there to have for dinner tonight as well ...

Happy Tuesday!
Sending good thoughts to those who need them.
My parents are having their carpets cleaned so my mom came over to work on her cards while my dad stayed home. It was a bit of a cluster getting them all packed up and furniture moved. My mom is a diabetic so we had to also get the supplies to change her insulin pump and her sensor. My sister is out of town for work so I've got primary parental duty and it's a lot! Luckily, I'm not too busy with work so I can help out with what is needed.
Dinner tonight will be spaghetti at home. I took them out last night and I've got a short rib meal in the refrigerator from TJs that I'll give them for dinner tonight. I need a night to myself!
Hope you all have a great day!

Thank you cadoodlebug I am here. I am hanging on and going about my daily business. There are a couple of issues at home but as we have a wedding in 6 weeks, I am focusing on that. We are civil at the moment and that's about it. Thanksgiving is coming up and my DD is loaded for bear. My mother has also been invited and we all know how my visit with her went. I think tonight dinner will be a roasted potatoes and a cuban sandwich inspired sausage I found at Walmart for H. I am thinking of making charred cabbage with a tomato sauce and chickpeas. I hope you enjoy your Dutch Oven jeremysgirl. I only have the Lodge skillet and griddle pan. I have had so many dutch ovens. At the moment I have a large one from Amazon Baics, a smaller one that is a Cuisanart and a brazier that is the Tramontina brand. I had a Martha Stewart one and the enamel started to crack and chip. That was disappointing. You also reminded me I have a dried starter that I need to get going. I may wait until the new year to work on that.

Hi friends! We're back from vacation, and we did quite a bit, but already want to go back to see things we didn't get to. I copied this straight from another post, so ignore my laziness.
🍂 Friday - Philipsburg Manor - Old Dutch Church and Burying Ground/Sleepy Hollow Cemetery - Kykuit (Rockefeller estate)
🍂 Saturday - West Point Museum - Olana (didn't tour, just walked the grounds) - Martin van Buren NHS - New York State Museum
🍂 Sunday - Saratoga NHP - Lake Placid Olympic Museum
🍂 Monday - Vanderbilt Mansion - Walkway over the Hudson
We drove exactly 1,244 miles; walked 40,592 steps; paid lord only knows how much in tolls (haven't looked that up yet); and I took just shy of 400 pics, and I'll have to see how many DH took.
Dinner tonight will probably just be pasta because we didn't want to get but so much at the store this morning.

Morning Ladies! Thanks for starting us cadoodlebug ! scrapmaven I do hope your migraines take a hike soon! naby64 I'm coming to your house, love a good Cuban sandwich! I was so busy last week I hardly checked in here. And well pretty depressed after the election results. But I do hope everyone is well! One good thing this week, my friends husband is coming over this afternoon when I get off work to get all my Christmas tubs down from our backyard storage building and he will also put up my icicle lights on the house. Ready to make it looks like Santa's most flamboyant elves just had a disco rave all over my house! Bring on the Merry! After that dinner is lasagna soup that I put in the crockput before I left this morning. With cheesy garlic bread of course.

My H is a born and raised Floridian and we all love a good REAL Cuban sandwich. It must must be on Cuban bread. When we go back to visit, I buy loaves and stick them in the freezer. I saw these sausages and have no idea what they will taste like so we will see. But it lists all the tastes of a true Cuban. I'll let you know how they are. And you making lasagna soup reminded me I have lasagna noodle to make soup and never got around to it. I need to look for another cool weekend and give it a try.

Happy Tuesday dinner friends! Yesterday I read the post, typed a reply and work distracted me before I could post, I found it sitting there waiting this morning. Work is painfully busy right now, but slowly, I'm getting thru this renewal season. Once we get to December 1st, busy shifts from prep to troubleshooting. This time of the year, everyone is counting down to the holidays, I do so as well, but for an entirely different reason- the wrapping up of He**iday season. Rather than Holiday season. :-) scrapmaven sending healing vibes, jeremysgirl I agree, I'm getting concerned too. cadoodlebug Thanks for stepping in to start the thread. Chicken noodle soup sounds yummy, I wish it would cool off here, I'm so ready for soup season. naby64 I'm sending you peaceful vibes, my DH can be a LOT when it comes to politics too, I totally sympathize with you. jeremysgirl I'm going to check out your posts. I agree with sueg I'm so over the political posts on this board. a couple of days ago I counted 13 posts on the front page labeled political. It's too much!!! I may have mentioned that I have an office/sewing room upstairs, but since we got the puppy several months ago, I've been working downstairs at the kitchen table when DH is in town with her. It was driving me crazy, I hate the house being a mess and packing it all away everytime they leave. I'm not ready to let her have free range upstairs, so I brought a small table downstairs and set it up in a corner of the living room, now I can just unplug my laptop and take it upstairs when they leave. I feel much better about this set up. I don't foresee working full time in my office/craftroom any time soon. She also majorly cuts into my craft/sewing time. I wish I could be more adaptable to all of the changes that the puppy has triggered, I love her dearly and her adventures. DH had been asking for fried Chicken, so that was what I decided upon yesterday. It was a nice change in our normal. Today is Taco Tuesday at our local Mexican place. easy peasy! I tried a sourdough starter a few months ago, I was successful with the starter, but the bread didn't turn out good, I abandoned the process, you ladies are making me want to give it another attempt. Have a great day everyone!!

I have a few minutes before taking off for yoga and errands, so thought I'd check in early. No appointments today, but LOTS on the to-do list. I know DH arrived home in the wee hours of the morning because his bag is on the stairs, an assortment of treats (Smarties, Coffee Crisps and Cheezies) on the island and smokies in the fridge. Another worried about you scrapmaven, and hoping you check in later. I put the chicken in the freezer yesterday so will either call a fend for yourself night (knowing 2/4 family members will be happy with smokies) or maybe BLTs if we have bacon in the freezer. I picked what might be the last of the tomatoes yesterday.

Happy Tuesday! cadoodlebug thanks for starting today's thread. scrapmaven sorry you can't kick your migraine. jeremysgirl I will check out your threads. naby64 my business partner is from Miami. She makes the best Cuban sandwich! rymeswithpurple that sounds like a great trip. Nothing much happening here today. I am teaching a class tonight. I must start Christmas shopping. There are a couple of local shops I want to get to. Maybe tomorrow. Tonight is more rechauffe from the weekend.

Thank you so much for starting the thread cadoodlebug. This thing came back really strong. I have 2 messages into my neurologist, because the new med he prescribed didn't help and now I'm woozy on top of being in pain. This can happen w/migraines. It even has a name. Please don't worry. It just has to run it's course. I want to respond to everyone, but I'm going back to bed to rest, since I was up all night. Enjoy your day and your week, my friends. naby64 , I am wishing that you'll find happiness as the wedding approaches. ((((HUGS))).

I tried a sourdough starter a few months ago, I was successful with the starter, but the bread didn't turn out good, I abandoned the process, you ladies are making me want to give it another attempt. I have tried making a starter over and over again without any success. I bought a sourdough book and I'm giving it another try. I really want this to work. I buy a loaf of sourdough every week at the market. Jeremy tried to bring me home a loaf of "sourdough" last week from his stupid grocery store and it had a mile long list of ingredients. I had to tell him, sourdough is flour and water. my friends husband is coming over this afternoon when I get off work to get all my Christmas tubs down from our backyard storage building and he will also put up my icicle lights on the house. The loaf that I buy from Aldi is just starter, bread and and water. It is really so so good. However, it is 45 minutes away and I don't always make that weekly trip. I used to think the one from Trader Joe's was good but after the Aldi, it's not. We don't have a bakery around that has a good bread. And my tree and Harry Potter candles went up Saturday morning. I never took my Nutcrackers down last year. Nor did I put away my 3 tinsel trees. They were, however, in the front room in a corner that is not seen so much and one tree is on a timer just to add some light up there. This weekend, I hope to get the decorations for the tree in and on it.

Good afternoon from the east coast! I have been "off grid" in the jungles of Guatemala for 10 days...Our AMAZING team of MD's RN's and anesthesia staff (and multiple others) did 90 surgical procedures in 5 days!! Long days for sure but the most satisfying work!! After the work was done some of us took a side trip to Tikal and explored the National Park there....all those Mayan temples...so interesting and just amazing!! Yesterday was a long travel day getting up at 330am to shuttle to Flores to get the first of three flights home. I finally crawled into my own bed at 230am...and it was heaven!!! It was an amazing adventure. I am booked to go back in February for another mission....Good to be retired so I can make these trips. Today I need to get groceries...So dinner is a big question...All I know is there will be a baked potato.... it could very well be loaded baked potatoes...we shall see. Looks like I missed a lot....don't have time to go back and read. Fortunately all of us on this mission were on the same page re: results...many were tempted to just stay in Guatemala. Wishing you all well💝💝

Good morning! It is still morning on the wet coast. Today I have to go get a flu shot and do some grocery shopping. The pharmacy I am going to is in a grocery store. Dinner hasn’t been thought about yet. It could be something with chicken though. Something that’s weird is we’re going to have another storm pass through town. It’s really nice outside now but later today isn’t looking good. I hope everyone especially scrapmaven had a great day!

Good afternoon!! It's another cold one here today and we have ice fog!! I LOVE a foggy day. Ice crystals get stuck on the tree branches and well, everything, it makes it like a winter wonderland!! I am not sure what dinner is going to be tonight. I am in a dinner rut. Everything that sounds good is stuff we don't usually eat. A protein and a salad sound soooo boring! The Birdhouse Lady , when you finish The Good Wife, you can start The Good Fight. cadoodlebug, I know!!! I'm excited to see what that show is all about. Is Alica Florrick on that show? karenlou Thank you for sharing about your mission trip. What kinds of surgery do you guys do? Glad you had some time to wander about and see the sites!! Hi there jeremysgirl. I will check out your new threads. I have basically been just on the dinner thread. rymeswithpurple Sounds like your trip was a lot of fun!!!

cadoodlebug I’ve only watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls so far, but I know I’ll like it. Not sure why I didn’t watch it back in the day, but I probably had something to do with having small kids at the time. There was only so much time to watch tv. Whew, today was busy. My coworker is on vacation, and today was payroll day. We have a pretty intense payroll with daily time sheets that are manually entered through our office. And of course the program was glitching out, so it was a struggle. But, it’s done, and people should see their money tomorrow! Dinner tonight will be leftovers probably. I have some pork left from 2 nights ago. DH left for out of town this morning, so I’m going to get into my pajamas asap, and watch Gilmore Girls, Married at First Sight (my guilty pleasure show), and be very happy work got handled today! Happy Tuesday!

Went into the city this morning and got DH a Christmas present. Every year he ends up buying exactly what I plan on getting him for Christmas. Same thing happened this year. He talked about getting new ear buds and I was going to buy him Apple ones for Christmas. Nope, he ordered himself a pair from Amazon. Then I mentioned a black puffy vest would look good on him and he found one on sale today that he wanted to buy. I lost it and told him not to buy anything before Christmas. So if you can’t beat them, join them … we went to town, he tried on the vest and I bought it. Merry Christmas!
Grabbed the boys off the bus then hustled home to get dinner. We are having grilled chicken and sweet potatoes for me. DH is having hard boiled eggs with his along with cheese and olives.
Loved Yellowstone last night, can’t wait for the next episode.

the dinner cruise last night was nice.. the food was pretty good, even if half of it was not on my eat list. the sunset was nice not spectacular. but we didn't care. we sat on the top of the ship and just took it all in. we love being on the water. very windy here.. windy day and night.. like gusts to 30 mph.
we are debating about dinner tonight. probably will walk into town for something. we have a snorkel trip tomorrow morning.. we need to leave here about 5:30 am to drive cross the island. the boat goes out at least an hour before any of the others. I finally had a good night sleep last night and didn't wake at 4:30 am.
reading my book about the 19th century economics of textiles and people's rights. it is dense but interesting.
had an hour talk yesterday with my friend who is a major democratic fundraiser. that was interesting. she is taking a break from work after last week. she is already thinking about who will run for CA governor next time.
more vacation to come!

Hey all - if you can, find someone who already has a starter and begin that way. It's way easier than getting a starter to start, at least that's what I've been told. I've had mine since covid days. They're pretty hardy once they're established. I'll throw it in the fridge for a month or more and then bring it out and feed a few times and it's roaring to go again. I made a lot more sourdough when the kids were still home - now it's a every few weeks typically.
Taco Tuesday here! Take care all!

I have rechauffe ribs and a Smokie, there are vegetables for roasting and salad which I am looking forward to.
This isn’t a pattern nor a habit yet, but I haven’t needed late night snacks for at least a week. Three weeks is a habit, right? I am not a snacker of any kind. This is a new bad habit.
I was in Save On today and they had 12 different kinds of butter. I got stick kind because I can monitor how much we use but there were 11 other kinds to choose from. You don’t know how happy I am to have found this out. I am seriously excited and can go back tomorrow to get another pound. The European style churned pound (not in stick format) sounds pretty exciting!
