So for the most part the texts from candidate's surrogates have ended (there are still a few persistent ones) TG. But out of the blue, in the last week I've received probably 6-7 texts saying "hello <my name> do you own <insert address of my home>?" Needless to say they are deleted and reported as spam but man....I was looking forward to going back to regular texts from friends and family. Grrrr. I did a google this morning to see what's what, and apparently it's a thing :/ Do you get these texts? If so, how long has it been going on? And have they lessened over time for you?

I'm afraid to respond in fear that that might start happening to me. But, no, I haven't seen this happening.

No, I do not receive these kinds of texts.

Yes. Should you ever own a home in a very popular area or an area that is up and coming (like for flippers), you will be inundated with those texts and voicemails. Sorry. Even long after you sell the home. Companies buy lists of homeowners from local property tax companies and don't necessarily update them every year. We owned a rental home near Phoenix for several years. Sold it in 2021 and still get calls about it today.

Yes, we have received the ones asking if we want to sell our property. We get maybe on average, one a month. They have been ongoing for years now. And sometimes it is for property we have never owned, like for property our parents owned years ago.

Yes, I get them all the time. My 'favorite' ones are the ones you think are from someone you know and just didn't save their number -- like, 'Hey! lets go get coffee tomorrow after our workout'. I always delete them but I sit there and wonder if it is really someone I know or if it's spam.

We have been getting that type of snail mail for years. Texts…I don’t know. They get deleted.
The voice mails from the Debt Help people have been persistent, though.

I have gotten those, only they’re not for me. They’re for the person who decided to use my phone number to sign up for things instead of their own.
So now I know his full name and address from those texts. And he ended up a “person you may be connected to” when I ran a credit report last year complete with his email address and phone number. And that phone number is no where near mine so it’s not just a typo.
So be careful if you give a fake number to anyone. They may be getting a helluva lot of info on you that they could use against you.

I give very few people my cell number. It's a good reason to keep a landline.

No, I'm not getting texts but I regularly get random notices from people looking to buy homes.
It's a seller's market here.

No texts but we do get real estate calls. Usually from someone who I can't understand because of their thick accents. They must outsource. I cut them off and say that DH is a broker so if we sell, he'll be listing our home. Sometimes they say they will delete us from the lists.

Not those types of texts. But any unsolicited texted is blocked and the text is deleted.

Yes, I get unsolicited texts. Real estate and job hiring are the most frequent. The job ones are weird because I've never signed up at any job hunting sites but I get spurts of texts asking if I'm still looking and interesting in applying for whatever.

I don't, but DH gets "sell your house" texts quite often. DS19 also got some of those texts when he was home over the summer (not sure if he still does, if so, he doesn't mention them anymore).

I have a rental and receive a couple of "we want to buy your home" texts per month.
And a few days ago I got a text because they liked my online resume and they have the "perfect" job for me. BTW I never had a Linkedin account or anything like that and have been retired for 15+ years so I don't have any employment qualities that anyone would want!
And oh, the job was to review Temu items. I would be paid $200-$6000 per day! Yep, six thousand dollars per day to review $5 Temu junk!
Sure, I'm going to hand over my banking info for that one...

I get job offers and notices that my package can’t be delivered without further info. The are you selling your property are phone calls.

I got my first "do you want to sell your house" the week after it was bought. This was back in 2009 and still get them. Do you know you can filter your text messages so you don't get notifications about texts from senders not in your contact list just the same as you can filter out callers who are not on your contact list.

At least once a month with the "do you want to sell your house?" For years!
I somehow became conflated with an elderly woman in Florida. I've figured out that she has the same last name and first initial as my husband, and of course, I know where she lives.
I just delete the messages and block the numbers, not that it stops them.

I've noticed that, and also more random/fake account following me on IG. I think the scammer/bots are done with trying to muck with our elections, so they've gone back to their "normal" activities.

Yes, the real estate calls are almost never ending. One in particular would not stop calling ( I try to keep my cell phone incognito). Finally I answered and told him bids over 5 million would be considered. Of course that was an outrageous price for my mother's old home. He said "I am talking about the property at ___" I told him yes, that was my opening bid for that property. He quit calling.
Now that the interest rate has slowed the market somewhat, the calls have become fewer.
