How often do you wash your water bottle? And to what extent do you go about it? Do you keep the mold out of all those tiny little grooves in the lid? Clearly I should wash my water bottle daily or rinse it but I get busy and it sits on the countertop forgotten for a couple of days. I may put a small amount of electrolytes into the bottle which I’m sure doesn’t help but I have found little bits of black under the silicone of the lid portion, which I’m assuming is mold. It’s impossible to get out with a cleaning tool for water bottles! So now what do I do? Throw it all away? Which brings me to another question - what is your favorite water bottle? I must be so picky. I can’t seem to find one that fits all my requests: Around 32 oz Fits in my car cup holder, which seems to be a real problem after 24 oz to fit in my holder. They make the diameter larger with the water bottles Has a handle or strap to carry it No straw because that seems to breed mold worse Spout, better if the spout cap is easily removed and stays attached so I don’t drop it. a.co/d/54bfJolThat’s the water bottles I bought in July. I have liked the functionality. I don’t use the straw but it still has a lot of mold traps in the lid. And the handle has already broke with the screw coming out. I’m not bashing it around or anything.

My favourite are Contigo bottles. The older ones w a clip so I can attach it to my camera bag. The lid has to be the one you push a button to open th drink spout (not sure the official name lol).
I wash them every couple of days. I haven't had issues. I only use them for water.

I use two, from Simple Modern. One smaller narrow one that fits nicely into the cup holder of my car. Then I take a bigger one to school. Both have straws though. I only use them for water (plain and sparkling), and every few days I wash them. I soak the top in hot soapy water, and I run a straw brush through the straw. And I use a bottle brush to get into the water bottle itself. I don't ever see any mold in it.

I wash mine daily or every other day. I'm a fan of the Ozark brand at Walmart. They make a 32 oz. tumbler that fits in my car cupholder. It has just one silicone seal that is easily removed for cleaning. You can buy a separate handle. You can use a separate straw with the lid if you choose to. It might be basic, but it fits all my needs. We have several of them.

I'm not a fan of water bottles. I do however use a tumbler every day (Tervis or similar). I bought some flexible silicone straws on Amazon or somewhere and I love them, no more hard straws that can injure you while driving. I throw the straws and tumblers in the dishwasher. Nothing gets gross!

I use very simple style of bottle, no straw, with a flip lid. I use the same bottle for a couple of days, fresh water every day with a quick rinse out and I store it on the fridge overnight. I just wash it in hot soapy water and don't have any problems with mould. I think the fancier it is often the harder it is to clean.

We run ours through the dishwasher and disassemble the gaskets/lids. They get as sanitized as possible, but, we don't necessarily wash the water them daily.

I have sworn off Contigo bottles completely because the lids absolutely SUCK and once they break you can’t just replace the lid even though the bottle itself is still fine. I also had some mold issues with their silicone seals on some of the models because you can’t remove them for cleaning. And their “lifetime warranty” is a joke, after the first lid broke and I sent in a warranty claim they never even responded. So no thank you.
Since then DD and I have been using some 24 ounce metal Thermoflask water bottles that we got in a two pack from Costco for about $20, I think last year. One has a straw top and the other has a spout top. We have some of the bigger plastic ones too but they won’t fit in a car cupholder. The lids are much easier to clean and the insulated bottles keep water cold for a long time. The ones we have do have a handle, but you could also make or buy a water bottle crossbody sling if whatever bottle you get didn’t have one.
I’m also a fan of Tervis tumblers, I use a 24 ounce one at home every day.

I have 2 Owala water bottles I love. I’m going to get one for DS and his GF for Christmas.

I have a 32 ounce Owala freesip that I like. It doesn't fit in my car cup holder, but the sales clerk at Dick's Sporting Goods says she put hers in the cup holder upside down. I checked, and it does work.
There is a gasket in the lid that removes pretty easily for cleaning. I run the lid in the top rack of the dishwasher and the straw in the silverware section of the dishwasher every few days, and I hand wash the bottle. So far, no problems. I've had this bottle since the end of July.
